Pilots don't get to pick their call sign. They'd usually get assigned one by their squadron mates based on some embarrassing incident or character quirk which they would initially hate but eventually grow into. HC on how the AC pilots got their call signs:
- Trigger: A quirky hothead. Easily 'Triggered' in battle. Fired guns instead of dummy missiles during a training flight and the name stuck.
- Count: Canon that he got his callsign when trying to convince people that he is connected to royalty.
- Cipher: Flew under a different call sign when in the Sapin air force but got his current one upon joining the mercenaries (wiping old IDs clean). Started off with a heavy Sapin accent and had to be "deciphered" over radio a few times.
- Pixy: Like Cipher, got his current call sign when starting clean with the mercenaries and after landing successfully with only one wing. A reference to a popular Belkan fairy tale where a Pixy escapes from a life-and-death-situation even after getting one of its wings plucked out. Belka is basically Germany and if you read Brothers Grimm, their fairy tales involve burning people alive in ovens and cutting off hands.
