Aluminum climbed to the highest in more than a decade after a coup in Guinea fueled concerns over raw material supplies, with futures holding gains even after the head of the junta urged miners to keep operations running.
Guinea has the world’s largest bauxite reserves. According to the United States Geological Survey, as of 2020, the country’s bauxite reserves are about 7.4 billion tons, accounting for 24.67% of the world’s total reserves; the annual output is 82 million tons, accounting for More than 22% of global production.
