do u want to hear my infodump abt cervidia, my mlp deer kingdom? ofc u do <3

earth deer tend to come in more muted or natural colours, n most have pointy antlers though some are more palmate. practices earth magic, mostly plants n fungi. for the most part they are middle sized but giant elk are a very rare kind n theyre Huge

a lot of reindeer have lighter palettes, but even if not their neck fur is always the palest colour of their body. practices both water + ice magic. usually the biggest kind of deer (aforementioned giant elk are exceptions)

perytons come in a lot of colours n can be v bright. small antlers but long fangs. practices celestial + weather magic. the smallest kind of deer, n are based off small fanged species eg muntjacs, tufted deer

thinking abt terminology: saying "bucks & does" would be like saying "boys & girls", while "hinds & stags" would be like "ladies & gentlemen". i think hind is generally a term for red deer but im using it. cant think of good neutral terms atm 😔 tho "fawn" is used for young deer of any race n gender

for rulers: each deer race is seen over by a king or queen, n these 3 rulers work together in a council to plan stuff more easily. current rulers:

earth deer: king cherry rosewood

reindeer: king north wind & princess frostbite

perytons: queen angelfire

theres a capital city in each part of cervidia n the ruler of each race lives there. im so bad at coming up w place names tho </3 earth deer city is in a huge broadleaf forest, reindeer city is in a huge conifer forest / tundra n peryton city is on floating islands n clouds

that being said deer from any race can be found anywhere in cervidia. theres even a ground level in the peryton city for non flying folk to live in or visit. theres a good train system for travelling

lastly cervidia is also home to populations of cows, sheep n goats - their homeland is next to cervidia. other ungulates such as camels, alpacas n llamas can also be found. most just visit from their travels but others live there permanently
