I moved quickly through Omist (only 41 solar systems) and on to Feythabolis region. I was told later that the penalty for losing a Rorq imposed by the alliance was extreme. I was surprised to see just one Rorqual on dscan the entire time I was in the region. I spoke to some of the local inhabitants and learned that logistics can be tough and the rent is high, but one of the directors I spoke with seemed to think it was a decent place for his corp to build up their wallet and ships. Most of the region is owned by the Kids With Guns alliance and rented out to small corps. I pushed South from Tenerifis into the region of Omist. though our campaigns against PL/NC and Fraternity during 2018 resulted in my visiting 80 percent of these regions with various fleets.įor this year's walkabout, I just slipped out the back door and finished visiting every system in both regions in short order. We were busy with campaign after campaign through the Summer, so I never really explored all the nooks and crannies of our home region or the neighboring region of Tenerifis. My corp joined Evictus alliance in 2018 and moved to the region of Immensea. The idea of a small gang fight club is appealing to me, but QFC is obviously more about Imperium having someone to farm close to their home region than it is about gud fights. and these guys had a pretty sizeable chunk of space in the region. I couldn't help imagining them as a pack of angry barking chihuahuas.Ĭurious, I looked up S.R.'s killboard stats and confirmed what I suspected: definitely not a hardcore small gang pvp alliance. They chased me into every system that was in "their" space and didn't stop pursuing until I left their constellation. Most people don't even bother trying to catch a solo interceptor - especially one of the four types that is immune to bubbles - they're just too slippery and don't pose much threat to anybody. They had a neat ring of 5 solar systems and, feeling a little evil and cocky, I started just burning around and around their ring. He was soon joined by a thrasher, and then a sabre and a hurricane. Nothing says elite pvp like a purple and yellow birdĪt first, a crow kept trying to catch me on gates as I made my way through their constellation. This continued until I hit the sovereign space of Stellae Renascitur alliance. I saw several super-carriers on dscan as well as the usual assortment of Rattlesnakes and VNIs. Moving on, I figured I would surely run into a roaming gang, but system after system was either empty or had a handful of miners and/or ratters in it. He didn't seem bothered by my presence on grid at all and was actually friendly in local and we had a nice chat. Instead, I found a rorqal mining sleepily in an ore anomaly. Thus, as I entered the first system in Querious by way of Catch, I half expected to run into a gate camp with fast lockers and high alpha DPS. According to the rules of QFC, sovereignty of a solar system is won by controlling a medium POS on the last moon in that system. I'd read that Imperium had attempted to set the region up as a haven for small gang PvP and named it "Querious Fight Club".Īlliances wishing to live and participate in QFC must get Imperium's approval to do so. So, I turned my super-cruise Stiletto West and headed into Querious region in my quest to visit every solar system in New Eden. I blazed through the regions I wanted to travel in this year's walkabout a lot quicker than I expected and decided I wasn't quite ready to wrap it up.

Beyond Frontier left for PH, and slowly rebuilt themselves over the next few months. CO2 had a serious hate-boner going on for us, and we were skeptical about the trustworthiness of TEST, who had abandoned us in the very region we were moving to 2 years earlier. We had a rough relationship with Legacy to begin with. In reality we had decided to moved down South, with TEST and CO2 as members of Legacy Coalition. On February 10th a Move OP was announced with no destination. With PL still nearby and constantly harassing us though, this was short lived. We took Cloud Ring with ease, and holed up in the system of 9-4RP2, with one of the best ratting pocket systems in Eve, XZH-4X next door. The writing was on the wall though, and we needed to get away from PL, so on January 13th 2017, the invasion of Cloud Ring was announced. We failed to destroy the first one, but during the OP for the second one we managed to hold back the entirety of PL's supercapital/titan forces while a few HAW dreads destroyed the structure. They anchored an astrahus in our staging system, which we successfully destroyed. Our resident Rooks and Kings member, Neutral Shock, also planned and successfully executed a Pipebomb on a 120 man Pandemic Horde hurricane fleet during this time period.Įventually, Pandemic Legion (and especially Doomchinchilla) decided to start a proxy war against Brave because of an old grudge Doom had with Cagali. We developed our Capital force, and things began looking up as time went on. So we created an "armada system." Basically every day all ratting and mining would be confined to one system, in an attempt to keep our ADMs up and allow for easy defense. Our location meant that while there was no shortage of fleets to fight, money making was incredibly difficult. Our staging at the time was DO6H-Q (which we lovingly called DOG-HQ). We owned a single constellation and lived in the middle of a super-highway surrounded by neutrals. On August 17th, the call was sent out that we were moving to Fade, which our friends Beyond Frontier had taken control of during WWB and handed over to the rest the alliance.įade was a time of heavy PvP. We led a final stand against the Fortizar in early August, which led to our over-100-man tempest fleet getting absolutely massacred, and morale plunged. This action sort of marked the beginning of the end of our time in Querious, as an increased enemy capital presence effectively shut down our ability to make money. (At the time my stupid newbro self made a panicked post on the forums about it here: ). We also had an incredibly good ratting pocket (U-H), and for the most part life was good.Īround early-mid July, an alliance known as Broski North (the complete and utter definition of cancer) anchored a Fortizar in nearby 9CG under the name _PL/NC Staging Area_. We were among the leading members of the Querious Fight Club, a newer coalition whose goal was to remain neutral to eachother but come together and defend eachother when needed. Our staging structure was a little astrahus until we finally placed our first Fortizar without issue. We were based out of the system of I1Y-IU, and at the time we had just under a dozen systems under our control. When I joined Brave in March of 2016 we had recently moved to Querious. Members can only install the following structures: Astrahaus, Fortizar, Raitaru, Azbels, Territorial Claim Unit (TCU) and Infrastructure Hub (IHUB). Members can own sovereignty within the region. Member alliances may not split apart or dissolve and remain members of QFC without an individual application and review for that alliance. All member alliance applications will undergo an individual review for worthiness to join QFC on their own merits. Membership is only granted by applying to the administrators of the program (QFC Management). Member alliances can expect a review of performance to be performed on a monthly or quarterly basis depending on the current nature of conflicts within the region. If at any point in time it becomes clear to the administrators of the program that a member alliance no longer operates within the expressed purpose of QFC, they will be removed from the program and expelled from the region. Intra-QFC hostility will cease during mutual defense operations. If Querious is invaded by external forces, all members will actively participate in mutual defense operations for the sovereignty of the region to repel all invading forces, including the defense of other member’s sovereignty. Members must remain combat proficient by engaging in sovereignty warfare within the region and developing internal strategies which align with other members and The Imperium for mutual defense operations inside the region. QFC serves a strategic interest to The Imperium by maintaining control of the region from any and all external forces which may attempt to invade the region or use the region as a beachhead for launching attacks further into Imperium controlled territories. Querious Fight Club (QFC) is a coalition of alliances authorized by The Imperium to obtain and manage sovereignty within the region known as Querious (the region), excluding the non-contiguous areas of the region known as “Fake Querious” or “Fake Delve”. In The Imperium, we’re lucky to have probably the best stocked markets outside of highsec and after a week in forward staging this normally clones over to wherever our people are wanting to buy. In the Imperium, most of the staging market and contract stocking is done by individuals. The simple math off the top of my head would be something along the lines of (Projected Losses over X days + 20%) with X being the number of days it takes to restock the reserve. HP: How do you calculate how much materiel is needed at staging?Ĭ: Having the right amount of resources in staging is less about how much you have and more about how fast you can replenish your reserve. If you’re going to NPC Nullsec or somewhere hostile you don’t really care about the hostiles feelings, right? If you’re going somewhere in sov null you’re usually going to fight someone hostile to your friends, in that case they’re happy to see you and offer up any assistance they can. You don’t really need to pick a staging system based on political alignment. HP: How do you pick staging systems? Is it more of a political or military decision?Ĭ: Staging systems are exclusively picked for their strategic value. The coordination team works collaboratively these days, a lot of discussion about tactics and strategy goes on in the coord channel followed by more of a primary coordinator supported by the other coordinators structure for the actual engagement. HP: As a follow-up, how do you work with them? Is there some sort of joint committee, or is it more ad-hoc than that?Ĭ: Depending on what we’re doing and who we’re doing it with we’ll be using text chats like Jabber and Discord combined with voice comms as required. The next day we could simply have recon watching a blue Fortizar online with FCs ready to respond if required. We basically work with any entity that can be a strategic asset in whatever campaign we are working with, when QFC is under siege we work closely with them to not only provide support fleets where requested but also supply them with a bit of mentoring and intelligence. Coordination works closely with Recon, Scouts and GSOL to pre-stage assets and resources in a way that will improve the likelihood of a successful operation. These tasks can be as simple as destroying a hostile Raitaru anchoring in NPC Delve or as complex as taking a whole region. The coordination team receives directives from the Skyteam or Imperium directors and enacts them. Hopeful Turtle: What other groups do coordinators work with when planning campaigns?Ĭhiimera: Coordinators are the second level of what I would call The Imperiums’ strategic division with the ‘Top Men’ being the Skyteam followed by coordinators. To shed some light on this subject, Crossing Zebras caught up with Chiimera, a member of The Imperium’s Coordination Team, analogues to a real life general staff, and asked him a few questions. However, once this decision is made, there is still preparation to complete before embarking on the process of a major conflict.

In the previous piece, we examined the decision process which led to war, seeing how alliance leaders used the full powers of their bureaucracies to generate effective information and make clear decisions (at least, in theory – we cannot dismiss the possibility of wars starting with less rigorous examination).
