For several years back in the 1970s, the Minneapolis Public Library created a series of advertisements which broadcast on KBEM, a radio station operated to this day by Minneapolis Public Schools. The brief ads promoted library services in a quirky, humorous fashion. Some highlighted pop culture and trends (like Mission Impossible and astrology and the occult), or the library’s variety of genres (like westerns or how-tos), while others addressed everyday needs (like knowing your public officials and career counseling), appealing to both readers and non-readers alike. The voice for these ads was KBEM station manager Warren Christy. In addition to these, the station also played a song about the library written and sung by local folk musician and historian, Charlie McGuire.

An ingenious combination of radio advertising and outdoor advertising wins the Radio/Audio Grand Prix
I wrote about this campaign when it broke last October, but I've only just now heard some of the resulting radio ads. The great idea and great writing come through even as regular people volunteer as the "talent."

The Enduring Power of Traditional Marketing for Small Businesses
In a world dominated by digital marketing, it’s easy to overlook the value of traditional marketing. While it may not have the same popularity as it once did, traditional marketing remains a crucial element of a well-rounded marketing strategy, especially for small businesses. It encompasses all marketing efforts that aren’t online, and depending on your target audience and what you’re selling,…
I’m trying to remember the name of this company that I’ve been hearing advertised on the radio; I may genuinely want to engage their services.
But I can’t remember their name. I’m super glad that my mental ad-blocker is so good that it is even preventing possibly useful ads from registering in my memory, but I am amused by the irony.
when i was a kid the sponsor for the weather/traffic segment on the radio was only paying to have the announcer say their name over the air
then they started to have them say a slogan and then include the sponsor's phone number and then their website and now the radio person is having to read the copy of a full 30-60 second commercial before telling you what the weather is going to be or where there are car accidents
at this rate we can expect the traffic/weather sponsorship message on most radio stations to be indistinguishable from the Home Shopping Network by 2040

I keep hearing this commercial about "the early signs of Alzheimer's Disease", and every time I hear it, I just laugh. The commercials are all about some older lady and how tiny changes to her daily routine are "warning signs" that she probably has Alzheimer's Diesease. Like, according to the commercial, basically anyone with memory problems, people who need to ask directions to nearby places, or people who get frustrated all have Alzheimer's. Don't believe me? Let's take a look at the official Alzheimer's Association "ten early warning signs" list.

Measuring ROI in Radio Advertising: Metrics and analytics tools.
Measuring ROI in radio ads is essential for offline advertising agencies, optimizing campaign performance and budget allocation. Key metrics include reach, frequency, and response rates, tracked through call-to-action responses, website visits, or sales inquiries. Advanced analytics tools provide insights into listener demographics and behavior, enabling targeted adjustments. Cost per acquisition (CPA) and return on ad spend (ROAS) metrics quantify effectiveness, guiding future strategies. By leveraging these metrics and analytics tools, advertisers can assess the success of their radio ad campaigns, justify investment, and refine tactics for maximum impact and ROI.
