Chhattisgarh National Lok Adalat settles 4,72,177 cases

The Chhattisgarh National Lok Adalat (Nandyal) settled a total of 4,72,177 cases on September 9, 2023. The cases were settled in a single day through mediation and arbitration.

The Nyaya Panchayat complex in Raipur was the venue for the Lok Adalat. The Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court, Justice P.R. Ramachandra Rao, was the chief guest. He addressed the gathering and stressed the importance of mediation and arbitration in resolving disputes.

The Lok Adalat was organized by the Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority (SLSA). The SLSA is a statutory body that provides free legal aid to the poor and marginalized sections of society.

The cases that were settled at the Lok Adalat included civil, criminal, and family disputes. The total value of the cases settled was over Rs 100 crore.

The success of the Lok Adalat is a testament to the commitment of the Chhattisgarh government to providing access to justice to all. It is also a reflection of the growing popularity of mediation and arbitration as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
