VERIFIED | Xika vs the Disinformation | Short Film | English from Clubcamping on Vimeo.
After the pandemic, our studio, Clubcamping, felt compelled to create a signature short with a Latin American flair, addressing the pressing issue of disinformation in our 'post post-truth' age. As we navigated through a sea of information, our narrative began taking shape, emphasizing the distorted effects of disinformation. With our team being 90% female, our heroine naturally emerged as a young girl, standing as a symbol of truth amidst a landscape of deception.
Our creative challenge was twofold: depict the transformative power of disinformation without causing offense, and design characters representative of the disinformation crisis. This task became smoother when @veroinstituto in Brazil partnered with us, integrating our short into their larger campaign against disinformation in Latin America.
In collaboration with @veroinstituto, we expanded our narrative universe, spotlighting the dangers of manipulated truths. We're excited to share more about our journey and the broader campaign. Giovanni Simeone and fellow debutant Gonzalo Martinez scored on their bows in the absence of Argentina superstar Lionel Messi in LA. Giovanni Simeone marked his debut with a goal as a Lionel Messi-less Argentina outclassed Guatemala 3-0 in an international friendly. Messi was not included as the five-time Ballon d'Or winner and Barcelona superstar reportedly considers his future following Argentina's tumultuous World Cup campaign, which ended in the last 16.Jorge Sampaoli lost his job as a result but interim boss Lionel Scaloni fielded a new-look line-up and reaped the benefits, albeit against minnows Guatemala in Los Angeles on Friday. Debutant Gonzalo Martinez, Giovani Lo Celso and Simeone – the son of Atletico Madrid head coach and former Argentina midfielder Diego – scored their maiden goals in a one-sided first half at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Mauro Icardi and Paolo Dybala were on the bench for Argentina's first match since their loss to France at the World Cup, with Simeone, Martinez, Exequiel Palacios and goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli making their bows.Argentina and Guatemala were separated by 135 positions in the FIFA rankings and the gulf in class was evident as the South American giants dominated. Ramiro Funes Mori spurned a great chance to open the scoring in the 15th minute when his powerful header sailed wide of the post, while Cristian Pavon and Polacios also came close for Argentina. Argentina eventually made the breakthrough approaching the half-hour mark thanks to Martinez, who stepped up and converted a penalty after Lo Celso's shot struck the hand of Elias Vasquez. It was one-way traffic as Lo Celso – on loan at Real Betis from French champions Paris Saint-Germain – made it 2-0 with a powerful and low effort from outside of the area.Simeone got in on the act a minute before half-time after Guatemala were dispossessed and the 23-year-old stepped away from his opponent before firing a shot across goalkeeper Paulo Motta. There were multiple substitutions in the second half and it unsurprisingly impacted the rhythm and flow of the match, with Argentina failing to add to the scoreline. What it means: Tougher challenges await but cause for optimism Ranked 146th in the world, Argentina were always overwhelming favourites to see off the CONCACAF nation. It could and should have been more for Argentina but more importantly, Scaloni's men looked like a unit, which has not always been the case. Pat on the back: Scaloni brings Argentina together The Argentina national team has been a difficult place to be in recent months but former international Scaloni restored some calm on Friday. Despite plenty of new faces, Argentina gelled and played with a purpose.Boot up the backside: Argentina lack killer instinct It is hard to be too critical of this new-look side but if there was anything to mention, it was Argentina's winning margin, which should have been greater given their dominance. Up next: Argentina will face a much sterner test when they play South American rivals Colombia in New Jersey on Tuesday, while Guatemala are scheduled to meet Ecuador in Illinois.

Sergio Aguero named in Argentina squad despite injury
Sergio Aguero has been included in Argentina's squad for upcoming friendly matches against Italy and Spain even though the Manchester City striker is currently injured.
Aguero revealed at the weekend that he would be out for two weeks with a knee injury, meaning he will not feature for City again until after the international break.
It would also appear to make his presence doubtful for the matches against Spain on March 23 and Italy four days later.
During yesterday's training I had a discomfort on my left knee. The club's doctors told me I'll be back with the team in approximately two weeks. Now it's time for a full recovery!

Franco CERVI, Gio SIMEONE, Alan FRANCO and more named rumored for Argentina call-up
More names are being rumored to get called-up to the Argentina squad.
Interim Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI reportedly has more names in mind that he wants to call-up for next month’s friendly matches. As we reported yesterday, Geronimo RULLI, German PEZZELLA, Ramiro FUNES MORI, Leandro PAREDES, Santiago ASCACIBAR, Matias VARGAS, Mauro ICARDI and Lautaro MARTINEZ are all set to make the team for the matches against Guatemala and Colombia.
However, per TyC Sports, there are more names. Franco CERVI of Benfica, Giovani SIMEONE of Fiorentina, Alan FRANCO of Independiente and Fabricio BUSTOS also of Independiente are expected to make the squad.
Furthermore, there are 9 players from Argentina’s World Cup squad which should also make the matches next month. Sergio ROMERO is the 9th player but that would depend on his recovery.

Argentina coach SAMPAOLI has 34 of 35 World Cup names, no Mauro ICARDI
While the deadline to submit his 35 man squad for Argentina’s World Cup campaign, a report is suggesting that coach Jorge SAMPAOLI already has a large part of that list ready with Mauro ICARDI’s name reportedly not included.
According to TyC Sports, Jorge SAMPAOLI will be travelling to Europe in the next few weeks to speak with a large number of players. He has already started speaking with players based in the domestic league. Independiente duo Fabricio BUSTOS and Maxi MEZA were the first two players to speak with SAMPAOLI and the next day it was the turn of River Plate duo Enzo PEREZ and goalkeeper Franco ARMANI.
As we reported prior to the two friendly matches last month, Franco ARMANI’s name was being rumored as one that could potentially make the Argentina squad for the World Cup. Up next for SAMPAOLI are Lautaro MARTINEZ (of Racing Club) and Boca’s Pablo PEREZ and Cristian PAVON.
In Europe, SAMPAOLI will speak travel to Spain where he will speak with Lionel MESSI, Gabriel MERCADO and Ever BANEGA. In France, it’s Giovani LO CELSO and Angel DI MARIA while in Holland it’s Nicolas TAGLIAFICO. The large part of the list comes in England where he will speak with Sergio ROMERO, Willy CABALLERO, Nicolas OTAMENDI, Ramiro FUNES MORI, Marcos ROJO, Manuel LANZINI, Erik LAMELA and Sergio AGUERO. In Italy, he’ll speak with Federico FAZIO, Lucas BIGLIA, Diego PEROTTI, Paulo DYBALA and Gonzalo HIGUAIN (no Mauro ICARDI). And finally in Portugal, Eduardo SALVIO and Marcos ACUNA.
He will NOT be travelling to Mexico but will speak with two goalkeepers; Nahuel GUZMAN and Agustin MARCHESIN. As is the case with Mexico, he will not travel to Russia but Matias KRANEVITTER, Emiliano RIGONI and Leandro PAREDES all expected to get the call with veteran Javier MASCHERANO joining the Mexico and Russia based players in the call-ups.
This would mean SAMPAOLI has 34 out of his 35 players ready:
Goalkeepers:
Sergio ROMERO (Manchester United) Franco ARMANI (River Plate) Wilfredo CABALLERO (Chelsea) Nahuel GUZMAN (Tigres, Mexico) Agustín MARCHESIN (Club America)
Defenders:
Fabricio BUSTOS (Independiente) Gabriel MERCADO (Sevilla) Nicolás TAGLIAFICO (Ajax) Nicolás OTAMENDI (Manchester City) Ramiro FUNES MORI (Everton) Marcos ROJO (Manchester United) Federico FAZIO (AS Roma)
Midfielders:
Maxi MEZA (Independiente) Enzo PEREZ (River Plate) Pablo PEREZ (Boca Juniors) Ever Banega (Sevilla) Giovani LO CELSO (PSG) Ángel DI MARIA (PSG) Manuel LANZINI (West Ham United) Erik LAMELA (Tottenham) Lucas BIGLIA (Lazio) Diego PEROTTI (AS Roma) Eduardo SALVIO (Benfica) Marcos ACUNA (Sporting Lisbon) Matías KRANEVITTER (Zenit St. Petersburg) Emiliano RIGONI (Zenit St. Petersburg) Leandro PAREDES (Zenit St. Petersburg) Javier MASCHERANO (Heibei Fortune)
Forwards:
Cristian PAVON (Boca Juniors) Lautaro MARTINEZ (Racing Club) Lionel MESSI (FC Barcelona) Sergio AGUERO (Manchester City) Paulo DYBALA (Juventus) Gonzalo HIGUAIN (Juventus)

Argentina squad for March friendly matches – Paulo Dybala and Mauro Icardi left out
Gonzalo HIGUAIN makes his comback to the Argentina team, having been left out of the last three squads (the four final World Cup Qualifiers as well as the two friendly matches). With Mauro ICARDI and Paulo DYBALA left out, it could be an indication that Lautaro MARTINEZ would receive his first Argentina call while Cristian PAVON of Boca would continue to be included.
Interesting to note that Marcos ACUNA and Eduardo SALVIO have been put under the defenders list with Javier MASCHERANO put under midfielders.
The domestic based squad will be announced at a later date.
