Ramiz Raja wishes cricket had lie-detectors to catch corrupt - Times of India

Ramiz Raja wishes cricket had lie-detectors to catch corrupt - Times of India
Tumblr media
LAHORE: Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja wishes cricket had a lie detector which could determine which are the players who could be involved in match-fixing in any form.
Raja’s statement comes after Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) banned wicket-keeper batsman Shafiqullah Shafaq from all forms of cricket for a period of six years. Shafaq accepted four charges related to breaching of the ACB Anti-Corruption Code, the board had said in a statement on Sunday.
Speaking on his Youtube channel, Raja said: “I wish there was an instrument to calculate this intention, just like the temperature taking tools being used for the COVID-19. We could easily red flag players who could go on to become fixers.

“A lie-detector test could be used. Just as random samples are taken for dope testing, we should also conduct random lie-detector tests. We should do that in a regular season to find out if players have ever been involved in match-fixing.
“This is an outside-the-box idea,” he further said.
“The solution to this problem is very confusing. We have rules, laws, regulations and player education programs but if a player is intent on fixing then no one can stop them,” the former batsman added.
“Fixers can usually attack in two important parts of a career. They can attack at the end of someone’s career because they have nothing to lose. They can also attack at the start when a player is starting out because their minds are impressionable at that stage.”

‘I feel he will no longer play for India unless...’ - Aakash Chopra on MS Dhoni future - cricket
https://www.liveindiatimes.com/i-feel-he-will-no-longer-play-for-india-unless-aakash-chopra-on-ms%e2%80%89dhoni-future-cricket/
Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra on Sunday said that he feels MS Dhoni might have quitely moved away from Indian cricket. Speaking to Pakistan legend Ramiz Raja in a Youtube video, Chopra said that Dhoni might have played his last match for India in Manchester at the World Cup. “MS Dhoni has not told anyone anything. He has a different story. What almost everyone think is that he might return to the Indian team if he performs well in the IPL. But I personally feel he played his final match for India at Manchester against New Zealand,” he said.

“Since then, he has not made himself available to the team. He has not been dropped. I feel he has made up his mind that he is no longer going to play for India,” he added.

Chopra added that Dhoni could still return to play for India if he receives a call from BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, or coach Ravi Shastri or skipper Virat Kohli, to help the team out in the upcoming T20 World Cup. “Unless, of course, Sourav Ganguly, Virat Kohli or Ravi Shastri pick up the phone and tell Dhoni to help the team out in the T20 World Cup. If they tell Dhoni that they want him to play the World Cup, then there is a chance he could return,” he said.
“Otherwise, in my opinion, Dhoni has made up his mind that ‘I am not going to play, I don’t need a farewell match. I came quietly, I will leave quietly’. He doesn’t need grandstanding. He is not that kind of player,” the former batsman added.

‘Jitna uske sar pe baal nahi hai, utne mere paas maal hai’: Shoaib Akhtar to Virender Sehwag - cricket
Tumblr media
Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has hit out detractors for claiming that he praises the Indian cricket team only to acquire more subscribers and earn money. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Akhtar said that he is an unbiased analyst of the game and that he speaks on things that he believes are right. “Just tell me one Pakistan YouTuber who does not praise India when their team does well. Ramiz Raja, Shahid Afridi all praise the Indian side when they do well. Tell me one thing, isn’t it right that the Men in Blue are in fact the number one side in the world, isn’t it right that Kohli is the number one batsman in the world,” Akhtar said.ALSO READ: From NZ to NZ: Shami’s remarkable transformation is a stunning story“I have played 15 years for Pakistan and have got all my fame playing for Pakistan. YouTube has not given be fame, Shoaib Akhtar was the fastest bowler in the world and people love me for that. Not only in India, traffic comes to a halt in Bangladesh, I have fans even in Australia,” he added. The flamboyant pacer also spoke about Virender Sehwag and said that the former India opener speaks in a carefree manner, but then his comments on him trying to pander to Indian audiences do not make much sense.ALSO READ: Why Prithvi and why not Mayank ? I’m saying this in a very funny way, take it as a joke Viru,” Akhtar said.“I do not understand what is the problem people have when I am giving my opinion on matters related to cricket. I have played for Pakistan for 15 years, I am not famous for just doing the YouTube thing. I was the fastest bowler in the world,” he added. Read the full article

Asia Cup 2018 Final: Rohit Sharma resumes captaincy as India recall five rested players
Facing Bangladesh in the final of the Asia Cup 2018 on Friday, India decided to bring back the five players who were rested for the dead-rubber clash against Afghanistan earlier this week. Skipper Rohit Sharma resumed captaincy for India while Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal all returned to the side in place of KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Deepak Chahar, Siddarth Kaul, and Khaleel Ahmed.
India decided to drop Rahul in spite of the 27-year-old scoring a half century in the only game he got to play in the tournament. Against Afghanistan, the right-handed batsman opened the innings for India and stitched a 110-run partnership. Rahul also made his contribution with the bat as he scored 60 runs.
Speaking to former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja after winning the toss and electing to field first, Sharma said that the team selection was made as the situation demanded. “All five guys who missed out in the last game are back for the final. I can understand the feelings of the guys who are missing out after just one game, but we have to go with the demands of the team,” he said.
Bangladesh made only one change from their virtual semi-final winning team against Pakistan. Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza said at the toss that Nazmul Islam has replaced Mominul Haque in the team. “Today is another big match but we have to take the pressure off, play hard, and fight it out till the last ball. Mominul is not playing, left-arm spinner Nazmul Islam comes in – we’re going with 5 bowlers today,” Mortaza said.
India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma(c), Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni(w), Dinesh Karthik, Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah
Bangladesh (Playing XI): Liton Das(w), Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Mithun, Mushfiqur Rahim, Imrul Kayes, Mahmudullah, Mehidy Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza(c), Nazmul Islam, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman
