The future of national women's football is resolved like a daisy trying to flourish in times of COVID-19 . While the RFEF awaits the completion of the action protocol announced by the CSD for non-professional competitions (the issue of the PCR tests remains to be fixed, which is not trivial), it seems that some clarity is already emerging regarding the competition format.
The Primera Iberdrola (First Division) would keep the single group despite having gone from 16 to 18 teams this season and would play roundtrip in 34 fixtures. The date currently set for the start of the competition is October 18, although it could be brought forward if the clubs unanimously agree to do so. Only Rayo Vallecano had refused to advance the deadlines given that it has not even started training, although it seems that a formula could be found that would accept to start the competition on October 4 or 10. The RFEF hopes that at the beginning of next week the final date will be decided and immediately afterwards the date of the draw will be set so that the clubs can plan trips and organization.
Where there are important news is regarding the Reto Iberdrola (second division), which will go from having two groups to four subgroups . The North Group will be divided into two: on the one hand there would be Friol, Oviedo, Sporting de Gijón, Racing, Parquesol, Pozuelo, Atlético de Madrid B and Madrid CFF B; and on the other Athletic Club B, Alavés, Osasuna, Zaragoza CFF, Barcelona B, Espanyol B, AEM Lleida, Seagull and Collerense. The same happens with the South Group: on the one hand there would be Cáceres, La Solana, Pozoalbense, Granada, Málaga, Granadilla B, Juan Grande and Córdoba; and on the other Villarreal, Almassora, Aldaia, Levante B, Valencia B, Fundación Albacete, Alhama, Real Unión de Tenerife and Femarguín. The best four of each subgroup would play a promotion play-off, without facing each other but maintaining the points of the previous phase, to subscribe the two promotion places. In this case, the start date is set for October 18 and the possibility is not open to advance it in any case.
