Myers Cocktail vs. Traditional Supplements: Which Is Right for You?
In today's fast-paced world, where stress levels are soaring and energy seems to be perpetually low, many individuals seek solutions beyond conventional methods to boost their health and well-being. Two popular options that have gained traction in recent years are Myers Cocktail and traditional supplements. Both claim to enhance vitality and provide a myriad of health benefits, but which one is the better choice for you? Let's delve into the details to find out.
Myers Cocktail, a renowned intravenous IV therapy, has been making waves in wellness circles, particularly in metropolitan areas like Washington DC. DC IV Therapy centers offer this cocktail as a potent blend of vitamins and minerals, administered directly into the bloodstream. The concoction typically includes essential nutrients such as vitamin C, B vitamins, calcium, and magnesium, among others.
One of the primary advantages of Myers Cocktail in Washington DC is its rapid absorption rate. By bypassing the digestive system, nutrients enter the bloodstream quickly, allowing for maximum absorption and utilization by the body. This can lead to faster results compared to traditional supplements, which must first be broken down and absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract.
Moreover, Myers Cocktail is customizable to suit individual needs. Whether you're looking to boost immunity, improve energy levels, or alleviate symptoms of certain medical conditions, IV therapy centers in Washington DC can tailor the cocktail to address specific concerns. This personalized approach ensures that you receive the precise combination of nutrients your body requires, potentially yielding more targeted benefits.
On the other hand, traditional supplements have long been a staple in health regimens worldwide. From multivitamins to herbal extracts, these oral supplements offer convenience and accessibility, allowing individuals to support their health goals from the comfort of their homes. However, the efficacy of traditional supplements can vary depending on factors such as absorption rates, ingredient quality, and individual biochemistry.

While traditional supplements may offer a wider array of options and are generally more affordable than Myers Cocktail, they may not always deliver the desired results. Factors such as poor absorption, inadequate dosages, and the presence of fillers or additives can diminish their effectiveness. Additionally, some individuals may experience digestive discomfort or difficulty swallowing pills, limiting their adherence to supplement regimens.
When considering Myers Cocktail vs. traditional supplements, it ultimately comes down to your unique needs and preferences. If you're seeking rapid results and personalized support, especially in a bustling city like Washington DC, DC IV Therapy centers offering Myers Cocktail may be the ideal choice. However, if convenience, affordability, and a broader range of options are your priorities, traditional supplements may suffice.
In conclusion, both Myers Cocktail and traditional supplements have their merits, and the best choice depends on factors such as your health goals, lifestyle, and budget. Whether you opt for the instant boost of nutrients provided by Myers Cocktail or prefer the convenience of traditional supplements, the key is to prioritize your well-being and choose the option that aligns with your individual needs. Consultation with a healthcare professional can also help you make an informed decision tailored to your specific circumstances.

Hi could you talk more about caves what you said on that post is really interesting
Sure thing!
First of all, it was an amazing cave I worked in. You never forget that. I'll pick one of my favorite topics,
the FALLOUT SHELTER AGGRAVATION TAX.
Clears throat.
Limestone caves are literally stone libraries in the geologic record of the world. Twice a year the airflow would change and then you'd smell smoke from decrepit old torches dating as far back as 1812. People made saltpeter in these caves, they were natural mines for things that went boom, and one of those 'requirements' meant airflow so you wouldn't suddenly and embarrassingly, drop dead of too much Underground. This is why the coal miners were eternally bemused and asking us questions like airflow. Sometimes you gotta canary. Sometimes you are the canary. This often led to predictable questions that was these old gents trying to be polite, but what they really wanted to know was,
'why the hell are you being paid $10 a trip plus tips to walk us 1.1 miles underground up to 3 times a day and no one has a mortgage gun aimed at your head?'
To which I would say, 'it wasn't quite that bad. If no one shows up at all we get paid $10.' ...Dear Saint Barbara, Chango, and the Gods of Deep Mystery, the things we tell ourselves. $10 a day. Crap. Thank goodness I had Granny's House, dad was paying the property tax, the water was on a well, and garbage was less that $20 a month. A shame we can't afford a TV, but hey, we can stay busy digging up that quarter-acre garden that will keep us fed plus the road kill Deer in the fall.
But the conditions that created saltpeter (I'll go into depth on that later if people are interested) also convinced some weird-ass people in Washington DC that caves were the perfect place to do a DR STRANGELOVE and people could go hide out in the caves, free of...well, nothing, really, because radiation = straight lines +caves, air, irradiated air and water, and everything goes down into the caves...
Look. It made people feel safe, ok? And it wasn't the worst decision the Pentagon ever made, considering they were telling the scientists working with HOT RADIOACTIVE MATTER to stay safe by sticking the stuff on a long pole so they wouldn't have to touch it.
Everybody knows about the bomb shelter President Kennedy was prepared to run to with his family in case of Cold War. It was in the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs (I prefer to think of it as the HIDDEN FIGURES birthplace). FYI everybody who lived here knew where it was. There are only so many power stations one measly little resort that cries that it can't afford to pay for its own water bill can keep.
[insert sniffle boohoo sobbing of the pro-confederates who run that place and while I can't be there for you, try to imagine the joy I am stockpiling for the day when we have another traitorous uprising and this time, the resort doesn't get a GO PASS GO by dangerous romantics and is finally burned to the ground.]
Anyway, the important people like the President, his family, his Secret Service, his staff, cook, maid-in-waiting, bootblack and et al got to go bunker down in the luxurious bomb shelter at the resort, which probably wouldn't be very resort-y after a certain point of Castro going, 'fuck you, you whippersnapper Irish Dog' or Khrushchev throwing a little more than his shoe around. I'm not convinced it was that great of a place to hide, really. I mean...they have lightning rods on the trees over there, and believe it or not, cavers in that country have been hit by lightning while underground. Because. Lightning. If it can bake entire acres of potatoes in the field, two subterranean surveyors with metal measuring tape haven't got a prayer.
I want you to know that I can't at this point go into detail (space restrictions) on the importance of all these caves to Union Sympathizers, slaves on the Underground Railroad, and the Far-Righter MAGAS called Confederates. Trust me when I say, if you didn't know where these caves were, you had absolutely no right to know.
In Appalachia, limestone caves were listed on properties and handed down because of their value. Thomas Jefferson made a point of making sure there were lots of caves to provide nitre for the Gunpowder Committee. I don't know if landowners had to pay taxes for having saltpeter caves (probably), but when the Cold War came around, they definitely and cheerfully sold the access rights to the government because...it was the government. I am not in the least bit joking when I tell you there are people over there who are still pissed off over George Washington's Whiskey Rebellion.
If you really want to get into the psyche of Appalachians, go read up every scene Terry Pratchett ever wrote about Lancre in his Discworld books. Just give them more libraries and a LOT of coffee stations.
Oh, dear. I forgot all about the owling and the Prohibition.
Owling = the practice of moving your herds of cattle from one ridge to the next to avoid a higher payment when the taxman came a-calling.
Prohibition = The Second Oldest Profession.
These days, many of the Fallout Shelter caves are being used for...modern needs. Meth labs, if you're a sensationalist, but if you aren't, bear in mind that hiding out stolen cattle and horses still requires big places out in the middle of nowhere. But when Mr. Gov't Man came around and offered cash for the access rights to grand-daddy's old saltpetre cave? Goodness gracious, we know we aren't supposed to take people's money from them because that's a sin, but...taxes...you know how it is... (most of the mountain folk had no real quarrel with Kennedy despite his heathen dog Catholicism because it wasn't his fault he was brought up Catholic, but when it came to the government...well, it was the principle of the thing).
In short order papers were drawn, and shelters were built and good god, they were ugly. Clapboard shantytowns, I swear. They were stockpiles whacked together with off-brand plank and tenpenny nails for where the selected few could bunker up in the cozy, damp, dripping, chilly, dusty, sneezy, probably-warm-from-stray-radiation environs. I have no idea who the Pentagon hated enough that they would send them to these caves. They had a bottleneck opening for easy defense, yes, but there was no defense against puking yourself to death or accidentally taking off your own skin with your uniform at the end of your shift.
YOU THINK I"M KIDDING?? YOU THINK IT IS A COINCIDENCE THAT CLASSIC DR WHO SHOWS DALEK HISTORY IN AN OLD STONE QUARRY? WELCOME ABOARD!
A fallout shelter's stockpile generally consisted of
*High-quality medical equipment, even though some of that stuff had a shelf life of three minutes.
*Radio Equipment. Which was probably a real belly laugh to the folks running the NARO satellite dishes up in Green Bank, because families in the most rural portion of WV (Pocahontas County) spent their evenings parsing Latin and teaching the young lads and lasses the wonders of shortwave and how to rig up your own crystals in case you needed to jackleg your own.
*Food. God. Awful. Food. It was designed to keep you alive, but you can't say anything more charitable about it. Honestly, I'm surprised nobody tried to corner a government contract on dehydrated water.
*Water. Potable water for drinking, but, I should say, I couldn't find any means with which you could make a potable distillery. Or, how much of this potable water was going to be used to rehydrate the ghastly awfulness of the dehydrated food, or the canned goods that included stuff the military couldn't wait to forget. Go ask your grandparents how much canned horse Circa WWII they ate while they served, m'kay?
*Candy. High energy, easily digestible candy. Flavor optional, at the discretion of the same government that made the WWII Chocolate Bar.
*The containers themselves. Yep, they counted. They were heavy metal barrels and tough buckets or small drums, plus the amazingly dense metal and plastic containers for medical kits, candy, and misc. I'm not sure if they had a requirement other than impervious, waterproof, and on sale. In fact, the smaller drums/buckets were supposed to be lined with the plastic used to wrap the other goods, and convert into a toilet.
Cold War comes and goes. I'm sure what happened next is shocking:
1) medical supplies goes missing in the dead of night.
2) Electronics follows. That probably makes the electricians feel good, because...what good would they have done in the wet, dust-filled atmosphere of the caves?
3) Candy. Candy, did you say? I don't remember seeing any candy..?
4) The gradual disappearance of the food rations is mysteriously in proportion to camping trips multitasking with double-dog-dares. Who needs a frat pledge if Freckles here has never been introduced to the joys of Dehydrated Ketchup?
5) If you think the backyard blacksmiths are making forges with tire rims, do you think metal containers stand a chance?
This leaves the barrels of water, but who would want to drink that stuff? It's been sitting around for how long? Ew. And the boards for those shelters...cripes.
This inadvertently makes up a tiny little side bonus for the hard-working tour guide. Because these shelters are usually ridiculously close to the entrance of the tour caves. You have to take your tour group in stages, see, and once they finish gasping and wheezing their way through the first 300 steps, you have to take their minds off how miserable they are and pause at the shelter with your flashlight, and describe this little chapter of history. By this time the bats are hanging off the boards (your chance to remind them of the exorbitant federal fines for hurting these little mosquito-hunters), the occasional lost salamander, and the beginnings of the Dreaded Cave Cricket (ten minutes with these little monsters and you'll never think pink is an effete color ever again).
And the mold. There are patches of mold the guides have been watching for YEARS. Some of them have even bothered to look them up, because...tourists. They love to stump the guides and use it as an excuse for not tipping you because you haven't taken a Master's in The Encompassing Topic of Karst Everything and are clearly a dumbass, hah-hah I'll spend my money in the overpriced gift shop, peasant.
But no, folks. If you ask them one more damn time if they're sure all the candy and drugs are gone...we're too tired to take your bleeping bleep bleep tip anyway.

Space Station 20th: Music on ISS
ISS - 20 Years on the International Space Station (ISS) patch. May 12, 2020 It was December 1965 and the crews of Gemini 6 and 7 had just completed the first rendezvous between two spacecraft, a critical step on the way to the Moon. Shortly after the two spacecraft separated, the following exchange took place among Walter M. “Wally” Schirra and Thomas P. Stafford aboard Gemini 6, Frank Borman and James A. Lovell aboard Gemini 7 and Elliott M. See as the Capsule Communicator (Capcom) in Mission Control in Houston: Gemini 6: We have an object. It looks like a satellite going from north to south, up in a polar orbit. He's in a very low trajectory, traveling from north to south. It has a very high [fineness] ratio. It looks like it might be [inaudible]. It's very low; it looks like he might be going to re-enter soon. Stand by, One. It looks like he's trying to signal us. [Stafford and Schirra play “Jingle Bells”]. Gemini 7: We got him, too! [Laughter]. Gemini 6: That was live, Seven, not taped. Houston: You’re too much, Six. If you listen to the audio of the conversation, you can hear the sounds of an 8-note Hohner "Little Lady" harmonica and a handful of small bells, the first musical instruments played in outer space. Both are on display at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC.
The first musical instruments played in space: a Hohner harmonica (above) and a set of bells (bellow). Credits: NASM.
Above: Ivanchenko plays the acoustic guitar aboard Salyut-6. Middle: McNair on the soprano sax in Challenger’s middeck. Bellow: Flautist Ochoa on Discovery’s flight deck.
As spacecraft grew larger and missions longer, the size and sophistication of musical instruments in orbit increased. Many astronauts and cosmonauts were accomplished musicians and brought their talents to orbit. Although the music from the instruments sounded the same in space as on the ground, playing them in weightlessness provided the musicians with challenges unique to each instrument. The first acoustic guitar in space is believed to have been aboard the Soviet Salyut-6 space station, first played by Aleksandr I. Ivanchenko in 1978. Guitars have provided musical psychological support for crewmembers aboard space stations ever since. Ronald A. McNair played a soprano saxophone during Space Shuttle Challenger’s STS-41B mission in 1984. Space limitations in the Shuttle precluded flying McNair’s favorite tenor sax, so he learned to play the smaller version of the instrument for his space flight. Once on orbit, McNair encountered unexpected effects of weightlessness: the water that normally accumulates inside wind instruments on Earth resulted instead in unwanted bubbly effects. The Shuttle cabin’s dry air had unwanted effects on the instrument’s felt and leather pads, requiring several minutes of “rehydration” before proper playing. Ellen L. Ochoa had to use foot restraints while she played her flute aboard Discovery during STS-56 in 1993 as part of an education demonstration. The small air current coming from the flute exerted enough force to impart translation motions on her.

Russian space psychologists realized that playing music on orbit improved the well-being of cosmonauts on long-duration missions and ensured that an acoustic guitar made it aboard Mir as early as possible. Cosmonauts Yuri V. Romanenko and Aleksandr I. Laveykin enjoyed strumming the strings during Mir’s second expedition in 1987, as did many cosmonauts throughout the space station’s lifetime. During STS-74, the second Shuttle-Mir docking mission in 1995, Canadian astronaut Chris A. Hadfield brought along a specially modified collapsible SoloEtte guitar that he donated to the Mir 20 crew onboard at the time, after recording a duet with European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Thomas A. Reiter. The guitar stayed on Mir until June 1998, when it returned to Earth on STS-91 after 942 days in space. Following the example set aboard Mir, psychologists concerned with the well-being of crewmembers aboard the International Space Station (ISS) included musical instruments as part of the overall support program. The August 2001 STS-105 mission, in addition to launching the Expedition 3 crew, brought the first musical instrument, an acoustic guitar, to ISS. An electronic keyboard accompanied the Expedition 4 crew to orbit in December of that year aboard STS-108. Expedition 3 Flight Engineer Mikhail V. Tyurin and Expedition 4 Flight Engineer Carl E. Walz played an impromptu concert for their crewmates.
Above: Lu (right) playing the keyboard. Middle: Coleman with two of the four flutes she brought to ISS. Bellow: Pettit playing his home-made didgeridoo.
Many crewmembers on ISS enjoy playing the instruments already provided; others bring their own that suit their playing habits best; others still make their own while on-orbit. Edward T. “Ed” Lu during Expedition 7 in 2003 provided his own rendition of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata on the ISS electronic keyboard. Astronaut and flautist Catherine G. “Cady” Coleman brought four flutes to ISS during Expedition 26 and 27. In 2011, she played a duet with Ian Anderson, flautist and frontman for Jethro Tull, she aboard ISS and he on Earth while on tour in Perm, Russia. As one of his private science experiments, during Expedition 30/31 in 2012 Donald R. Pettit built a didgeridoo, an Australian aborigine wind instrument, from a vacuum cleaner hose and with the help of Daniel C. Burbank demonstrated how the sound waves emanating from the end of the instrument disturb droplets of water.
Above/bellow: Noguchi playing the ryuteki and Yamazaki playing the koto in the Kibo module.
Marking the first time that two astronauts from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) met in space, in April 2010 Expedition 23 Flight Engineer Soichi Noguchi and STS-131 Mission Specialist Naoko Yamazaki performed a musical duet of the traditional Japanese song Sakura, Sakura (Cherry Blossoms), using the JAXA Kibo module’s airlock as a stage. Noguchi opened the performance on the ryuteki (a bamboo flute) he had brought along for his 5.5-month mission, then switched to the electronic keyboard to accompany Yamazaki playing on a koto. Normally six-feet long, Yamazaki had a miniature version of the stringed instrument made for her spaceflight, which changed the quality of its sound.

Space Oddity - David Bowie - Performed by Chris Hadfield
Shortly before returning from his six-month Expedition 34/35 in 2013, Hadfield recorded his version of David Bowie’s 1969 hit Space Oddity. He announced this first-ever video shot on ISS on Twitter and posted it on Youtube where it has received more than 45 million views. Responding on social media, Bowie called Hadfield’s cover "possibly the most poignant version of the song ever created." On June 29, 2013, one month into his 6-month mission as Expedition 36/37 Flight Engineer, ESA astronaut Luca S. Parmitano took part in a concert by French musician Didier Marouani and his band spAce playing in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium. Watched by fellow crewmembers Fyodor N. Yurchikhin and Karen L. Nyberg, Parmitano played the ISS electronic keyboard while the band, including Yurchikhin’s 11-year-old daughter Elena as a guest performer, played the song Magic Fly.
Above: Lindgren plays the bagpipe in the Kibo module. Bellow: Pesquet with his birthday present alto sax.
The honor of being the first to play bagpipes in space belongs to NASA astronaut Kjell N. Lindgren. In November 2015 during Expedition 45, Lindgren played Amazing Grace on the pipes custom made for him by McCallum Bagpipes in Scotland to pay tribute to his friend research scientist Victor W. Hurst who had suddenly passed away. For his 39th birthday in 2017, ESA astronaut Thomas G. Pesquet’s Expedition 50 crewmates surprised him with an alto saxophone that they had conspired to be delivered to ISS and had somehow managed to keep hidden from him. The sax remains onboard ISS to this day and astronauts occasionally take it out for a spin.
A jam session comes together on ISS. Far right: AstroHawaii jamming session aboard ISS (above to bellow) Feustel, Artemyev, Arnold, Shkaplerov and Tingle.
What do you get when you put several musicians in a room together with an array of instruments? A jam session. True even on ISS. Calling themselves AstroHawaii, in April 2018 the crew of Expedition 55 took a break from their regular work to hold a zero-g jam session, with NASA astronauts Andrew J. “Drew” Feustel and Scott D. “Maker” Tingle on guitars, Russian cosmonauts Oleg G. Artemyev on the pan flute and Anton N. Shkaplerov on the Irish flute and NASA astronaut Richard R. “Ricky” Arnold on the drum (actually a Russian KTO solid waste container). No recording is known to exist of this epic jam session.
Above: Gerst playing his iPad, projected behind Kraftwerk in Stuttgart. Bellow: Parmitano projected onto a large screen as he DJs a cruise ship party.
Expedition 56 Flight Engineer ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst took music on ISS to nerd level off-scale high. In July 2018, Gerst participated in a concert taking place in Stuttgart, Germany, with pioneering electronic band Kraftwerk. Jamming live on their 1978 song Spacelab, Gerst used an iPad loaded with a touch control app backed by synthesizer software, configured by Kraftwerk’s Henning Schmitz and coordinated with ESA who manifested the iPad on a SpaceX cargo vehicle. Kicking it up another notch, Parmitano became the first person to DJ a party from space. In August 2019 during Expedition 60, using the name DJ Astro Luca, he played a 12-minute set from ESA’s Columbus module using an iPad loaded with DJ software to 3,000 party-goers on a cruise ship anchored at the Spanish island of Ibiza in the Mediterranean Sea.
Above: Meir playing her high school piccolo. Bellow: Meir on sax in the Cupola.
During a TV hookup with school kids from her hometown of Caribou, Maine, in November 2019 Expedition 61 Flight Engineer Jessica U. Meir played the Star Wars theme on her high school band piccolo. In addition to piccolo, Meir also played flute and saxophone as a child, so it was only natural she would take the alto sax on ISS out for a spin before returning to Earth in April 2020.

Is high income associated with high life expectancy?
After reading through the codebook for the Gapminder study, I have chosen life expectancy as main topic of my research. The codebook provides several factors that could be included (e.g. breast cancer rate, HIV rate, suicide rate). Depending on literature I’m planning to take a selection of these factors but for now I will consider all of these variables and include them in my personal codebook.
I use life expectancy (i.e. 2011 life expectancy at birth; the average number of years a newborn child would live if current mortality patterns were to stay the same)  in different countries to begin with, however, I will still need to decide which related factors are worth investigating. Suicide rate (i.e. 2005 Suicide, age adjusted, per 100 000; Mortality due to self-inflicted injury, per 100 000 standard population, age adjusted) is clearly linked to life expectancy, with high suicide rate resulting in lower life expectancy. Factors like breast cancer rate (i.e. number of new cases of breast cancer in 100,000 female residents during 2002) and HIV rate (i.e. 2009 estimated number of people living with HIV per 100 population of age group 15-49) also implicate higher mortality.  Secondly, after taking into consideration the implications of health conditions on life expectancy, I would like to investigate the relation between high income (i.e. 2010 Gross Domestic Product per capita in constant 2000 US$ ) and life expectancy across the different countries.
Current research comes up with various factors that impact on life expectancy and often explores just a restricted amount of countries if not a single one. Here are some relevant conclusions and how I will use them for my hypothesis:
- Preston, concludes after investigating life expectancy in relation to regional income data with different techniques that between 1930 and 1960 ‘some 75–90 per cent of the growth in life expectancy for the world as a whole over these three decades is attributable to factors exogenous to a nation's contemporary level of income.’(1) He excludes improved nutrition and higher literacy as relevant factors. (1)
That said ‘the cross-sectional relation between income and life expectancy remains strong’(1) and among lower income countries changes to income levels were related to changes in life expectancy. An aspect that interferes with this relation is income distribution, i.e. mortality in countries with huge differences in income like Venezuela, Mexico, and Colombia differs from expected levels. (1)
Income distribution may explain outliers among low-income countries, but the article also states that higher income is related with higher life expectancy, in particular in lower income countries. I will not cover the aspect of how life expectancy changes over time and the period (1930-1960) that Preston investigates is out-of-date. However, Preston’s assumptions are still reflected in newer research and seem to be relevant.
- Newer research criticises Preston stating the opinion that economic development, which includes higher national income, clearly brought improvements in medical and public health and hence, higher life expectancy.(2)
This may be reflected in the higher life expectancy of high income countries, i.e. countries with a certain level of economic development.
- Sub-Saharan Africa, a region with low-income countries, had the lowest levels of life expectancy in 2017. High-income regions had the highest life expectancy in 2017; According to Samuel Preston’s research one third of decreased mortality is due to growing income per capita, one third is due to better educational attainment and one third to improvements over time driven by technological progress.(3)
This states again the positive relationship between high income and high life expectancy. Nevertheless, lower mortality is not only driven by high income, there are other factors such as educational attainment and technological progress that need to be taken into consideration.
- Behavioral factors such as physical exercise and obesity play a role in the differences between high-income-countries, but it cannot be exactly measured how these factors have an impact on differences in longevity due to interdependencies (’e.g., obesity can lead to lack of physical exercise and poor health but poor health can also lead to lack of physical exercise and obesity’). (4).
This may explain differences in life expectancy between high-income-countries. I will not include behavioural factors in my research as the Gapminder study doesn’t measure them.
- At a national level, higher income was related to higher life expectancy in the United States between 2001 and 2014. However, it differed per area and income group as a result of different health behaviours and local area characteristics. (5)
This indicates high life expectancy is linked to high income.
- At a steady level of real income life expectancy grows over time. Also countries with growing income don’t show an increase in life expectancy at the same proportional level. This means economic development cannot be the only factor that drives life expectancy. The relationship between high income and longevity is shifting and one assumption is ‘scientific understanding and technological progress makes some very efficient public health interventions – such as vaccinations, hygiene measures, oral rehydration therapy, and public health measures – cheaper and brings these more and more into the reach of populations with lower incomes.’(6)
This demonstrates again the impact of economic development on life expectancy but includes technological progress as factor. I will not look at changes in life expectancy over time but I take this article as an interesting outlook that life expectancy in higher income countries will not always be higher than in low income countries in the future as it currently may be.
Research concludes that high income is associated with higher life expectancy but other factors need to be considered as well such as technological progress, income distribution, educational attainment, behavioural factors. Due to the limited data set that I have available as per Gapminder codebook I will focus on the positive relationship between income and life expectancy. My hypothesis is higher income is associated with higher life expectancy. Factors such as breast cancer rate, suicide rate and HIV rate will be investigated in addition to explain differences in life expectancy in countries with similar income.

Last weekend I was in Washington DC for the Overnight Walk Out Of The Darkness for suicide prevention. I rode up with 2 friends, Nick and Judy, and we met Maria in DC. Judy graciously drove the entire way.
Along with our friend Robert, Team Chattahooligans was able to raise $6,969 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention with donations from our friends and families.
The Walk started with registration and a touching Opening Ceremony on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. The picture (above) with the Washington Monument in the background is the staging area, next to the drained reflection pool.
The walk started with thousands of walkers walking along the Potomac River. The first monument on our path was the Jefferson Memorial. As you can see from the picture, I was already losing a lot of water. I was drinking water and refining at every rest area.
I was walking with my friends Judy, Maria and Nick. They were kindly walking slow to match my slow pace. Nick was filming us at each mile marker for his vlog, The Overnight Journey. We ran across a number of people who knew Nick from his vlog. When we were notified that Chattanooga FC won their game with Nashville we made a video in front of the Capital.
Soon we reached Capital Hill, which is an actual hill. I slowly climbed trying to drink as much water as a could. Somehow I missed the picture with the 5 mile marker. I kept plugging away but was still losing a lot of water. The last mile marker picture on my phone was Mile 6. You can see that I am soaked.
My body started shutting down and I was basically shuffling. My teammates were amazing and fellow walkers were checking on me, even giving me their water. I stated feeling nauseous and sat down on the stairs in front of a townhouse. The owner came out and offered to help. The transportation staff, walkers and medical staff were all so caring and helpful. They kept me in the medical tent giving me water and electrolyte drinks trying to cool me down and rehydrate me. Eventually, they put me in an ambulance as I was still nauseous. They took me to GW Hospital and my nausea, how do you say this, reached it’s natural conclusion all over the ER floor while strapped into the stretcher. I didn’t tell many people about the ER, as I wanted my teammates to finish the race and didn’t want any of that focus on me. The team stopped by the Hospital and tried to see me. As I mentioned, everyone was wonderful. I tested well, was feeling better and I was released from the hospital in a few hours.
The next day I mostly slept, I think we went to Union Station. I was improving and the day after I was able to walk from Georgetown to the White House. Along the way, we passed the hospital (pictured).
I feel bad about not finishing the 16 Mile walk but I am glad that others on my team finished and got to attend the closing ceremony. I also proud that we raised $6,969 for AFSP and that my friends contributed more than a thousand if that. I also take solace that I can try again next year and that when I looked at a tracker, I saw that, even though I didn’t finish the walk, I ended up walking 24.1 miles that weekend.
Once again, thank you to everyone who contributed. The donation pages are still open at www.theOvernight.org/participant/Bill or you can go to the Team Chattahooligan page and donate to the team or others on our roster. I would like to thank everyone who helped me successfully reach my fundraising goal (if not my physical goal).

21.08.17 After last nights late night bicycle ride back through the city we had an extended snooze in the bed of dreams this morning. Besides, we had nothing in for breakfast and most eateries in the area we are staying don't seem to open until 10ish. Once up and ready (with half of last nights leftover pizza packed in to the rucksack) for our day ahead on the Toronto Islands. We walked first to Bunners to collect some breakfast muffins. I had a carrot and ginger muffin and Owen had a blueberry oatmeal muffin and let me tell you, you can't say nuffin' bad 'bout those muffins! We walked to one of the local fruit and veg shops (yes, there is more than one, more than one on a street!!!) and bought some fruit and then headed to the ferry port! We walked for what honestly felt like hours because of the hot hot heat. It was only once in downtown Toronto we remembered that we had our 24hr city bike pass left from yesterday afternoon and could have cycled down instead. Doh! We arrived at the ferry port and were greeted with a rather long queue which Owen clearly didn't have time for as within a couple of minutes he had bought the ferry ticket online and we were exiting the queue and heading down the express lane and straight on to a ferry. The journey across the lake was quick and we could see the entire skyline of Toronto. It reminds me of Seattle but I think that's mostly to do with the CN tower and the space needle being a similar shape. We disembarked the ferry and began our walk around the island, quickly moving past the sign and the direction of the 'clothing optional beach' I mean, if that's your thing, go knock yourself out, but nahhhhhhhhh thanks, not for us, not today! We walked for a while until we got to the a lighthouse where we found out that it's first keeper went missing and that his skeleton was later found under mysterious circumstances. It was pretty cool, the lighthouse isn't working anymore, but still pretty cool. Soon after leaving the lighthouse we heard a loud CRASH and looked ahead to see that a girl had just fallen off her bike. From where we were stood it looked like she had fallen under the wheels of a truck but as we got closer it turned out she had just crashed in to the back of a stationary vehicle. She was ok, I gave her 3 baby wipes that were wrapped in tin foil (cos, how else are ya gonna carry yr baby wipes around that you need to clean your feet with all the freakin' time when you are on holiday cos you can't stand the dirt and grime that gets all over them all the time without taking the whole massive pack around with you? right?) and made sure she was ok before moving on. Shortly after this we veered off to the right and sat by the edge of the lake by some sand dunes. We sat and watched people swimming in the lake and we wished we could do the same while rehydrating with some of that refreshing Canadian tap water that you've all heard so much about. It's really quite impressive, wet, clear and cold! Yum! We walked further on to a park area which would become our lunch spot - we laid our blanket out, kicked our shoes off, counted and resisted scratching our numerous mosquito bites that we acquired while watching Twelfth Night in High Park last night 😫😫😫 and collapsed in two sweaty heaps! As soon as we had regained a small amount of energy we ate some leftover apiecalypse pizza and some fruit while watching the world go by and wondering if the partial eclipse that we were supposed to see had happened yet! After lunch we walked around some more of the island, through some pretty gardens, past a small scale theme park and towards a viewing point that looked out across the lake to the city. The skyline is super impressive from here. We watched some ferries come and go and even saw some flights taking off and landing across the skyline from the city airport that is based on the lake front. We decided to get the next ferry back to the city as the heat had worn us down more than any other day. We got off the ferry, grabbed some cold brew coffee and sauntered back to the apartment to cool off. Once showered and refreshed we got our nicest clothes on (haha) and went for a couple of drinks in a bar down the street. We wrote postcards as we drank and probably couldn't have looked any more like tourists if we tried! After a quick trip to the supermarket to stock up on supplies for our train journey to Montreal tomorrow we returned to the apartment, ate dinner and packed our bags ready for an earlyish get up in the morning to start the next leg of our maplemoon! P.s. I have just scrolled back through the blog from America and it would seem it's exactly 2 years since we were in Washington DC and were also being attacked by mosquitos until my legs looked like a particularly gruesome dot to dot. They are so gross and make me so sad! N x

Top 10 Xmas Event Invitations Templates
A wedding rehearsal dinner is a little event that is performed on the evening before the wedding and also this most of the time observes the wedding practice session. On this celebration she was more especially the centre-point to which everyone is actually eyes were guided; for (to my girl's secret annoyance) she used her terrific birthday celebration found, which shrouded all the rest-the Moonstone. Cheaper compared to a supper as well as often occurs coming from 4-7 PM. It could be performed with style as well as design. New Heights disregards attractive Rock Spring Park, in the facility from Washington DC, near the Omni Shoreham Resort. After arriving at your campsite for the evening, steam up some water for tea or soup, as well as make some added to rehydrate supper. Below are my top ideal Thanksgiving holiday dish cookbooks that I consistently make use of for prepping a Thanksgiving holiday supper every year. Overlooking the lovely port, it is actually the excellent location to see the sun collection and also take pleasure in the sparkling port lightings night. A few of the dinner foods and club sandwiches are a small amount costly compared to those located in other alright eating spots, having said that, they are most definitely worth ever added cent coughed. Permit them decide where to conceal this and then see their contentment as they perform something pleasant for other people. And, obviously, you do not possess 7 or even 8 people in order to help you obtain dinner with each other, so this offers you a wonderful justification-- you can inform your household that you have to perform the job of eight individuals in the kitchen, thus merely shut up and also consume.
