Day 5 of @chowderweek asks “What shark-related (NHL or animal) purchases has Chowder made? Does he regret it?”

I’ll start by saying that only a small fraction of his shark-related belongings were bought by him. Every Christmas and birthday he gets a large haul of merchandise because a lot of people can never think of anything else to buy for him.

Now, I’m a believer of the view that Chowder doesn’t really like the animal, he just gets mistaken as such because of his obsession with the team, so most of the purchases he’s made personally have been NHL merchandise, or bought with the team in mind. The exception to this is when he buys sharks to feed into an inside joke he develops about it with Cait (because I do think she knows he isn’t fussed about the animal). So, they spent ages trying to win those sharks at the Big E (yo @tobyflenderson) and he doesn’t regret that, because of the memories from that day, even though now he has a random not-SJSharkie styrofoam shark in his bedroom.

Mostly he’s only regretted his purchases when they were more money than they were really worth (like the goalie helmet Bluetooth Speaker which he can’t actually wear during a game and which... seemed like a good idea at the time). For the most part, though, it does make things a lot easier when he knows what is his based on which plate/bowl/glass/pen/towel has the Sharks logo on it.
