This was an absolutely insane entry I made for a Victini contest. For context, Victini had failed to be the chosen pokemon many many times. Even when it had a 3/4th chance of being randomly spun. All the pokemon at the top were pokemon that got chosen over it, and art styles of the winners! Replicating the styles was definitely the hardest part. I won 2nd Place in "Wild Card".

I’ve been really nostalgic for PMD lately and kind of been hoping for some kind of news related to a new game or a switch port on Pokemon Day (oh well)… so I drew this! I’ve drawn Stuffiko and Guzcham before and used to always play with the idea of them being an Explorer Team in the PMD world... it’s such a fun little AU and I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately! Their team name was going to be called The Kung Fu Pandas xD Now Nyabori joins the party! But now they’re not all pandas anymore… but they ARE all Fighting types, so their new team name is The Fighting Dreamers! (because it’s The Dream Team in Poke form and NARUTOOO and also because Ingo canonically naruto runs lol)

Stuffiko now has a gracidea flower on her head instead of a rose to match her human counterpart’s new hat, and each of them wear red scarves in some fashion to show that they’re a team.

Oh, I don't know if someone's asked this before, but what would Peach's favorite Pokemon of each Type be?

Peach would walk around the lab, trying to decide what’s the top of each type, in a moral dilemma at every turn.

Water? Ok, pretty easy toss up, she has two water type Pokemon by choice, so that’d be a Dreadnaw or a Golisopod, she did the Galar gym circuit with a particularly shy Golisopod who totally destroyed its foe despite the nerves it had, and it really impressed her. She gave it so many opportunities to retire but it was really brave despite being a big wuss haha, still is on the island to this day.

Fire... I mean Torkoal is neat, nothing wrong with a heatmore, she knows Charizard well, handles enough of them. But with Val staring at her, almost reading her mind like some creepy horror movie character? Has to be a vulpix. Or peach is dead haha! How could she betray such a loyal partner by choosing anything else?

Grass. Damn man, so difficult. The greenhouse is rife with Pokemon, all excellent. Oddish started her love, but meganium is one of her actual starters, and bulbasaur! How cute are those. Cherrim, sunflora, bellossom? Dammmmmn difficult choice. She would circle the idea of choosing just one for hours. Perhaps the others would be easier to do first.

Electric, vikavolt, or maybe a magnemite. Cute, small.

Rock...uhhh, onix are beloved. Gigalith are neat too... she has a soft spot for bonsly. But i suppose, based on her work with them, she's got a very hot headed Midnight Lycanroc who works guard duty, and that has to be top of the list for her. purely because of its fiery nature.

Ground, toss up between Donphan and Steelix.

Normal, SO hard to pick theres so many good ones. Stantler or Ursaring if she's real honest with herself.

Fighting, Pangoro are great fun, but Heracross are a firm top fav.

Fairy, Ribombee or Florges for sure, both equally great!

Dragon would beeee...hm. Noivern line, very cool, big personlaities.

Bug. Super tough, loves a bug. Paras hold a special place in her heart.

Ghost. I man she's nervous around ghosts, but Shuppet are very useful, and Phantump are very sweet.

Dark. Shiftree or Tyranitar for sure, she's connected with too many of those to not think of them first when talking dark types.

Psychic, probably Elgyem. Has worked with one for a long time in her personal training time. Has come to love them.

Poison, a family fav typing, she handles so many! Bulbasaur or Roserade come to mind, but damn, Nidos are cool!

Ice. Not a fan, but likes Sneasel a lot! Plus they adapt to warmer climates just fine.

Steel - Scizor or Bronzong for sure!

Flying Crobat, Tropius, Noctowl...how is this so hard to pick just one?!

Y'know, I really like that Akari in oop is mostly a researcher and just kind of mid at battling. It's refreshing! And it makes a lot of sense if we consider that arceus prob just wanted the pokedex to begin with, and didn't realize there'd be a crisis that she needed to deal with. Even with its ability to yoink her from the future, I still think that if it had known its chosen human was going to immediately be met with frenzied nobles that it'd have warned her about that rather than just saying it wanted a catalog of its creations. Forewarned is forearmed after all. It's always just seemed out of place for it to not say anything about the impending fights for their life if it knew. So Akari being a very average, albeit modern pokemon trainer whose interests lie elsewhere is pretty neat! I also think it'd be kind of funny if arceus just kind of picked her at random. It knew it wanted from the future + interested in pokemon research and spun the lotto wheel. Didn't specify when in the future, didn't specify age, didn't specify battling experience, just got her mostly by chance. I think that since palkia and dialga are specifically in charge of space and time that they're able to be precise, while arceus only has a broad, but narrow reach. It can do stuff to manipulate time and space, but not very well. Anyway, got a little lost in the weeds there, but yeah I like that she's just Some Kid. It's a good contrast to Rei, who starts off being pretty garbage at battling, and Ingo and Emmet who are Very, Very Good at what they do. These kids need protection, and luckily they have some adults who are willing and able to provide it. I'm counting Cyllene and Laventon in that too, even though their ability to help is far more limited.

thank you!!!! yeah i think the kids being actually invested in dex work is really good and i wanna do more of it because. i like it. because the unown report in hgss was one of my fav things like ever. cause i think it's cute if it isn't just A Task to them, bc the game really gives that feeling, yanno? the protagonist IS actively updating their dex over time, recording things they catch, i think they really are interested in the research! plus it's fun if they're excited about it right alongside laventon. whole surveyfam gathered around the wallflower table having a heated debate about whether the spacetime distortion sneasel evolution should be called a regional sneasler variant or if it's different enough to be its own thing.

anyway. yeah this is a thing that i think is gonna be a fun challenge for oop in the future, is like, power scaling for all the different groups floating around. bc like. you have such a MASSIVE range in skill levels between them. where on the one side you've got people who are barely aware of battling as a concept, and then you've got people who only recently started practicing it, and then you've got akari, with this modern knowledge about it but not really a ton of time investment, and then over on the other side of the scale are these two pros. and even if people are at the same aggregate power level they're not necessarily good at the same things? like, i would place irida and rei to be roughly the same skill level at battling, but the key difference is a bunch of rei's knowledge is being pulled from his survey work and knowing a lot about the pokemon he's facing. whereas irida does not have nearly as many of them memorized, because why would she? that's not really a thing she's ever needed to know? but what she does have is ingo's training, which she applies in a more general way with strategies that don't depend as strictly on type matchups or special abilities, like turning powder snow into visual cover.

anyway point being it's gonna be kind of tough to make challenges that actually feel challenging for all these different groups, lol. like, something that is an intimidating but doable task for the miss fortunes is barely even enrichment for ingo and emmet. conversely, something that could challenge those two with their whole team plus tagalongs should rightly curbstomp any of the other smaller groups. this was sort of an angle when i was still trying to figure out how to write the vespiquen fight actionwise. asking "ok, how would you do this fight if you were perfect at it?" and then following that up with "what parts of that plan can't irida do, and what can she do instead?"

[ ftr the answer is bait out power gem -> leafeon mimic -> shotgun it while glaceon runs circles around it to hold its attention. once you've got that 4x effective move in your pocket you clean up much easier. but irida didn't know leafeon had mimic, and also doesn't know that power gem is so effective on vespiquen, a pokemon she's barely had contact with before now, and has a hard time splitting her attention between two different battle partners to the degree required to have one of them just monkeying around being distracting without it getting ko'd. so scaling those things back gets you a mimicked air slash and glaceon playing offense alongside leafeon. ]

...i'm just rambling now whoops. ANYWAY UH. what was the original topic. yeah i really like my akari too!! she's just very curious and loves pokemon a whole lot and really likes being helpful, but isn't necessarily so into battling specifically. that's more of an incidental "way to bond with my partners" than anything. so you get someone with a ton of knowledge but not a ton of experience in applying it, yanno? there's obviously more here abt battling conceptually and the vast array of interactions one can have with it, but, y'know. this is already really long. uh. thanks!

While my starter choice in Moon was rowlet, primarina and her pre-evos always felt like a best friend.. like an air of nostalgia to it! Maybe part of it was watching the little mermaid a lot a a lil kid, but also brionne ears always reminded me of the braids and beads hairstyles the kids i went to school with had :3 Not to mention all shes done for trans girlies <3

That one video carries her so hard you know the one (>w<) color scheme is very pretty and lov her big claws but i dont think i've totally processed her yet tbh.. sneasel having a different form and an evolution that is very tall and has a name That Close To Onceler Of All Things blindsided me. so hard (PLA was also like the one game i avoided spoilers for so like!! extra hard!!)

That all said i love hisuian sneasel very muchies especially her shiny and her mustard hands <3 I have an alpha shiny of her in PLA shes my bestfriend (she might even ultimate fav with recency bias)

while absolutely kittygender i actually havent interacted much with meowscarada.. since my starter was quaxley and nimona chooses the weaker starter (fuecoco) i just.. havent seen too much of it (/w\;;) I should figure out some kind of playthrough to do with her maybe.. depends on what the next games are and if i can bring her i guess.. or starting a different scarlet file waugh orz

this was VERY hard for several types 😭 i have a lot of favorites--H-Samurott is pretty tied with Floatzel, Mega Mawile super tied with Fezandipiti, and Incineroar is pretty neck and neck with G-Moltres. Anyway i think it's rly interesting that except for. wow literally only like 3 guys, my favorite Pokemon has been one from gens 7-9. idk! I just genuinely think Pokemon design gets stronger with each passing gen and these last few batches have just been one banger after another for me. they keep makin Dana Monsters!!!

(also this chart hasnt been updated with Bloodmoon Ursaluna yet, but that's my actual Especially Favorite Ground Type now. BEAR ATTACK!)

Paldea: DIFFICULT PICK. AGAIN. God I think I have to go with either Miraidon or Ceruledge. sorry world for being a Violet girlie (Runners-up: Meowscarada, Cetoddle, All Four of the Ruinious Vessel Legendaries, Maushold, all of the Paradox Pokemon, honestly probably all of the Loyal Three......i like scarvio's dex a lot)

Favorite because it was my first starter, ever: Bulbasaur

Favorite starter overall: Popplio

Favorite because it carried me through a game: Magnezone (moon, scarlet), Chandelure (sword), Kingler (PokeGo), Dragonite (also PokeGo), Skorupi/Drapion (SP) and right now I'm doing a co-op playthrough of Let's Go Pikachu that is making me inordinately fond of the Oddish line

Favorite because of some other role it played for me in a game: Magby (my main Flame Body mon for egg hatching in Moon), Gallade (my main catching build in Scarlet and Sword), Krookodile (the infinite money build for SV lmao), Larvesta/Volcarona (more flame body)

Favorite because of The Vibes: Hisuian Typhlosion, Sneasel/Weavile, Corviknight, Misdreavus/Mismagius, Sableye, Mawile

I wish sneasel wasnt post game in gold cause sneasel's one of my fav pokemon. It also has a better shiny in gen 2 imo.

To the point that i hunted for both forms of shiny sneasel to have shiny weavile n sneasler together in legend arceus and fucking got them

FAVOURITE SPINOFF GAME: Stadium, probably. Don’t care for the others.

WAAAAUGH just riding around in violet trying 2 get 2 the next town, i ran into a shiny sneasel???! my fav pokemon!!! 🥹 p sure there wasn’t anything going on to increase shiny odds either, so that’s like, a full odds one?! 🤯

didn’t notice anything like a noise to indicate it was there tho, i only happened 2 see it cos it’s bright pink?? 😧 makes me wonder if i’ve missed any other shiny pokemon while i’ve been going around.. 😳

Probably an electric or dark type themed gym, more of my favorite pokemon are dark type but I really like electric type, I also loved the mildly puzzle style gyms so maybe something like completing circuits to activate the way forwards? No clue if that's been done before lmao

Heyooo doodle dump time. Beyblade + Submas on the same page? More likely than you think - Featuring me not knowing how to draw the other eye, hands, sneasels or Smiles (sorry emm). Queueing this so I have no clue when it will be posted but I made it during my away weekend.

As you have probably noticed i have been captured back into pokemon thanks to legends and mainly I was thrown on the submas train. i love the twins pls just let me kiss both of them. Sneasel and weavile have alwasy been my fav pokemons. Giving them a new form just.. sneasler my beloved.

Weaviles also alwasy gave me Yuriy vibes so all started with some school doodling with a Trainer Yuriy with a weavile and it all went down from there.

Later in the night added Emmet and borya to fill the page and also add some more Feral™️ energy (as if yuriy isn't enough)

So like, I was scrolling instagram reels and saw this one (hope it works)

In short: In japan there is a cat cafe, that rescues stray cats, and it's Train themed.

And I just couldn't not think about the twins. Train themed sneaslets/pokemon rescue cafe. Maybe they had the idea or helped in making it? funded it (like donated to a kickstarter or something when they saw the idea??) so like stray pokemon or pokemon that can't be cared for anymore don't end up in danger or abandoned, and instead get to have fun playing with trains and the lucky ones adopted by trainers or other people visiting. It's a cute idea right?

There is also a room for battles, of course, on emmet's request, both for challenges between customers and so that pokemon and their possible new human can try to battle together to see if they are a good fit for each other while having fun.

Occasionally you can find the subway masters chilling in there during breaks, it soon becomes their go-to-cafe, Elesa joins there and this just helps the pokemon to find good homes. They post on social medias the cutest photos when one of the pokemons is a new entry/ ready for adoption/just got adopted. The drinks and pastries are also verrry good, only helping in the popularity increase of the place.

I have no real question to ask but I’m giving you the chance to talk about Ingo and Melli! Maybe what about them you like?

It’s weird you know, like I don’t know, I am not sure, there is something about their dynamics that just hits all the right spots. I started shipping as a joke, mainly because of all those funny posts of melli treating him like an old man and him going “I am younger than you” (let’s not think now this is probably not the case anymore with the new informations), and the “ingo’s training in customer service is what makes him so good at dealing with melli” to the “melli is down bad for Ingo and tries to get his attention in the worst way possible (taking out the torches), Ingo is absolutely oblivious to it all”. I see all the hate towards Melli and all the love towards Ingo and be like wouldn’t it be funny if they kissed. I learned to love Melli. And I love him so much now. Then I actually started thinking of it seriously and to look better at their interaction in game, and think what they could be out of it, and and their dynamic. Just YES, OH I realized  IT COULD ACTUALLY WORK.

So for what I like, first is, the height difference, even if most of it is given by Ingo’s bad posture and slouching, when he straightens up the difference isn’t that much anymore, but still Melli would be taller I think, and I just want Ingo to have to look up to someone, which boasts up Melli’s ego. In the game Melli and Volo feel like the tallest characters and Volo is confirmed to be 190cm, I don’t think Melli is much shorter than him but I will need to check that. So yeah, the height difference first. Melli in exchange would boast up Ingo in every occasion he can. He doesn’t let people talk shit of him, or his being an outsider. Ingo is Ingo first, Pearl clan warden after, an outsider even more after. Melli will for once put his ego towards someone else, and not only himself.

Then I like the idea of  Melli being completely mesmerized by Ingo’s weird glowy eyes, like moonshine, and isn’t it fitting that Lord Electrode Arena is called Moonview arena and you find Cresselia in there, the Lunar pokemon. And doesn’t Lord Electrode (better say, hisuian electrodes in general) have a frown on his face? just like Ingo. And Melli deeply cares for his noble. Oh don’t get him started on that little smile the man does to, the slightly turn upwards of his lips, just like one of the baby sneasels. Am I projecting on Melli? Maybe a bit. Melli feels all of this warm and fuzziness and yet they try not to think about him, but OH Adaman had to hear a whole lot of “Ingo this, Ingo that”, Melli doesn’t realize that his rantings just clue Adaman on what is going on, even more when Melli does slip quite a few compliments towards the warden of Pearl Clan, while absolutely claiming that he “can’t stand him”.

I feel like there would be quite a lot of misunderstandings at the start? Melli giving many mixed signals but again Ingo is kinda oblivious to all of it, I mean he has bigger problems you know, amnesia and all, and if Melli just stopped for once to tinker with the torches.. maybe maybe they could have a conversation. They eventually talk that out, Melli being internally a whole mess the whole time keeping up that bratty, assholeish full of himself  facade. I just like melli being an absolute gay disaster sir.

Then is just that their characters kind of compliment each other. Ingo has patience,the patience to listen, and that is what Melli needs, someone that listens to him. In turn Melli listens to Ingo, even if he may not understand all he talks about. Spending time with each other while crossing paths in the highlands they see both the ugly and the good of each other, they learn about each other and to appreciate the other company, they may have had to help the other in different occasions, specifically thinking about all the times Ingo must have been accidentally poisoned specially at the start and Melli being the poison expert. In fact I am surprised by Melli being a “trainer” of all poison types taking care of an electric/grass, while he would have been The Guy for pokemon like h.sneasel and sneasler. At the same time Ingo has a lot of experience with electric pokemons, even if he doesn’t remember why (Emmet coff coff). It’s just natural for him and ends up spending a lot of time near Moonview arena.

And like at the end of it all, Melli's character is kind of just an act for himself and the others if you really look into it. It is all a mask, and Ingo is someone he can let that mask fall out, and being around Melli could actually help Ingo in some way with his memories, he can’t quite pinpoint it, but there is something familiar and he does quite like the pretty, and petty, Diamond clan warden despite it all.

Now as I said one of the things that drew me in the ship where the “Ingo is younger than melli” jokes, well it is clearly not true. But no problem, I will just be projecting more on Melli by giving him my same problem of liking older characters and everyone making fun of me for that. What throws my calculations off is the knowledge that supposedly Adaman is older than Melli, as the website and the concept arts say Melli looks at Adaman as an “older brother”. Now this being literal as in, older in age, or just because he took the older brother role we can’t really know. What we know is that Melli was a shy kid,(thus the now absolute insufferable facade) and Adaman was the one to protect him. I still like the Idea of Melli being actually older than Adaman, but given the circumstances and Adaman being now clan leader it just stuck with Melli to consider him the oldest. Like looking at them I just feel Melli is older but acts like a brat, he has more mature definitions compared to Adaman. Adaman has a pointy younger face, he is overall smaller except chest coff coff, Melli has a defined square jaw and it’s more evenly built up. He probably has the best legs in all of the game.

Still, the ship for me still stands for now. 

And it hurts, because it is a ship with inevitable heartbreak, one way or the other. A happy ending is still a bittersweet ending. Be it with Ingo going back to the future or him staying in the past, making him forever divided in half somehow. If he comes back to his time he would regain his brother, but lose the love of his life, the one meant for him, never to see him again, centuries back in the past of a different region. If he stays in the past he can be happy with Melli, but in the event of him regaining his memories he would realize, remember, of his twin brother. Well, This Man can never be happy it seems. The pokeGods really hate him.

Now In my Ideal situation Sometime Somehow Melli finds a way to future Unima, this is why there are no clear descendants of him, though one may point to a few characters that could be related (James and Harley even if anime only could be some, they have the same "gender what" vibe and james makes it funny with the whole subway team rocket incident in the anime, Lucian is probably one of the most probable descendatns out there as I have recently seen theorized around, but I subscribe to the all x color shade haired characters are related distantly to melli), this because after a while of Ingo going back, Melli did try other relationship but they just did not work as they felt too much as a distraction.

I have a whole thing concepted out for Melli in the future that only one person knows about and that I did not talk about as other people already made their Melli in Unova Aus, and mine is a mess in a mixture of languages as I was writing it and forgetting words in one while remembering in another. Plus it would be long and out of the ask. A few things are Melli and Emmet would be great friends, and Elesa would help Melli maybe in modeling, he has the looks for it. Or since we now know he is good at singing he could be a pop star/singer like I have seen someone else suggest (Emmet calling Piers so they can get him set up). But I think Melli would be ok with something more chill too. Skuntank is just happy for his human happiness and Ingo could not have desired anything better. He is Home, both in place and hearth.

My #1 post of 2022

I'm having a blast watching pokemon scarlet and violet, the games are so bad, so many bugs and glitches, so many pokemon are ugly, so many DOG pokemon, too many dogs, the characters are giving me so many gay vibes, you can take selfies with your mons and character, you can actually real time play with your friends in your world. It is ACTUALLY open world.

Mixed feelings man mixed feelings.

top ten Pokémon? your fav games?

So most of my favorite Pokémon are just my favorite because of them being the Pokémon of my ocs, or in one case, my father when I was 9-10. I was. A weird kid.

10: Lugia. My father. Me and a friend ran around the playground yelling lugia’s song but distorted, because shadow Lugia was attacking, and then my friend made shadow Lugia say, in his dying moments, that he was my father. Actually I’m wheezing because I had forgotten that until this moment what on earth.

9: Grovyle. I hate putting him this low, I had a crush on mystery dungeon grovyle- and yes pmd is why grovyle is here. When young me found out about celebi being in love with grovyle… listen he’s a thief but actually a hero and he’s doing it along because aaaaaaaaaaHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Gently holds.

8: blaziken. My first starter was torchic and blaziken is the fully evolved form. His name was Emma. I. Didn’t understand the gender markers.

7: mew. Tiny psychic cat my beloved. I would replay the mew windmill scene over and over again.

6: wyrdeer. My lovely girl, Nilla. She’s one of my character’s main Pokémon even though she wasn’t his starter, and she’s basically his service pokemon.

5: Mewtwo. I feel really bad about putting him this low, considering mewtwo was like, my first oc’s *thing*. She had a mewtwo tail, she had known the clones, had been best friends with Amber before Amber died, she was connected to mewtwo, my old username on everything was crystal(redacted)ketchum2 (redacted because her middle name is a friend’s deadname). But. I don’t like mewtwo as much as I used to?

4: Sneasel. His name is crime. He has a knife. Enough said. (He’s one of Fox’s Pokémon and my favorite to write, ever.)

3: Silvally my friend Silvally. Syl. Bright’s closest partner. What is it with characters of mine having a water type starter and then a partner that’s a second starter that evolves in a weird way?

2: Primarina, Pip, my beloved. Bright’s starter. I chose popplio for sun and moon because everyone hated on it when it was revealed and Trickywi made a song about it. I never regretted it. Primarina is amazing.

1: Oshawott. There is a life sized Oshawott Pokémon plushie and I keep going back to read the reviews. It was my starter in gen five and then I chose it in legends arceus, and I love Oshawott.

Favorite games. Hmm. The first one I played was Ruby. I loved soul silver and my shiny suicune. I probably put the most hours into sun moon ultra sun and ultra moon, if you combine them. And legends arceus is amazing. Plus the mystery dungeon games, and ranger guardian signs. Ukelele pichu my adored
