god the way i think about the star trek reboot movies and yes i know that they do have their fair share of early twenty-first century not-so-great-ness (ie. whitewashed khan as played be benedict cucumberbund, jim kirk copping a feel on uhura’s chest), but god how i get so angry because not only does it have an astounding cast (leonard nimoy himself talking about how the crew is so alive, also how he gets emotional talking about how karl urban, for a second, is so like the late deforest kelley nah man i can’t do this right now), and a fantastic score (i hear labor of love and enterprising young men and i can feel my soul ascending to the stars), but also how the concept introduced by the first movie is actually so accidentally metal because what if i told you that there’s a rip in time and space, and yet the same people will still find each other! what if i told you that the star trek reboot movies still accidentally go into the idea of how, no matter the universe, no matter the weird things that fall into the timeline, you will always be able to meet your best friend and you will always be able to meet the people who ground you and who make you better what if i told you about something really rather lovely about how the star trek reboot movies is still grounded in this idea that you will always meet your chosen family and your chosen loves, like ! ! ! god ! ! !

There’s a phrase for this . . . There’s a phrase we can use for this. It’s perfect. Scott’s gonna love it. (And by “love it,” Leo means probably hate it, but why else would he say it?)

“Down, dude.” Not yet. That wasn’t it, but words cannot even describe how tempting it was to say “boy” instead of “dude.” Here it is: “Askin’ good ol’ Leo to throw you a bone, huh? Crazy. I’m not seeing where I’m benefitting here.” Look, he’s not trying to be a Grade A Jerk, but the guy’s basically asking for it at this rate; look at him. That dumb expression on his face and everything . . . Man, Leo hoped he was never down bad enough to be like that.

As of July 1st 2023, this blogs has MAINS, meaning that there are specific versions of a character, written by a specific person, I prioritize over other portrayals of the same muse (I will still write with duplicates of said muse).

Mains can be blog-wide or in reference to specific one or more specific characters. Both canons and OCs are welcome!

What does being mains entails?

They have priority on plotting (if I come up with an idea involving the muse, I offer it to them first and foremost) and shipping (romantic and platonically)

Their muse is the version I refer to whenever said specific character is mentioned in a thread

They are the blogs that get most of my attention and effort (and the occasional edit / moodboard / etc)

I will not make Main Calls because they defeat the purpose of why I'm doing this, but if you're interested in becoming mains, here is what I ask from you:

Approach me directly to ask about it (in my IMs or on Discord)

You must have filled my interest checker / told me which of my muses you're interested in building dynamics with

We must have been interacting for a while (both IC and OOC) or at least plotted an in-depth dynamic

You must be willing to communicate with me OOC on sort of regular basis

I expect you to match my effort when it comes to interacting (aka sending memes, liking posts, offering ideas, etc)

If there's an issue, I expect you to talk it out with me like a mature person

Don't ask me to become mains if you have the habit to block / unfollow people without a word over a difference of opinion or because they interact with someone you don't like or if you spread hate over fictional matters, of any kind.

I reserve myself the right to say “no” to any request if I don't feel comfortable enough being more than a casual RP partner with the person and to remove anyone (warning them beforehand) who doesn't respect the listed boundaries.

dont mistake me I really loved s3 of Enterprise, and so far im enjoying s4, but the character writing has taken such a hard hit

what I mean by that is that if you aren't Archer, T'Pol, or Trip, youre basically fucked. pretty much all the focus shifted to those three, with very few exceptions. Phlox occasionally gets some focus, and Malcolm might get a few crumbs, but Travis? Hoshi? they barely exist. theyre supposed to be main characters, and at this point it feels like theyre not even side characters. Shran has gotten more attention in s4 than Travis and Hoshi have gotten

im so close to the end of the series that I know it won't change, which is disappointing. I feel that other Treks have done a much better job keeping things feeling somewhat balanced, with bigger casts. im still enjoying myself with this series, and im hoping I continue to enjoy myself, but this is a big gripe I have with s3 and s4 specifically
