Choosing your first luxury watch can be a daunting yet exhilarating experience, marking a milestone in your personal journey. In this luxury watch guide, we'll explore key considerations to help you make an informed decision.
Understanding Luxury Watches
A luxury watch is more than just a tool; it's an investment in precision engineering and timeless elegance. The craftsmanship and materials used in luxury watches set them apart, ensuring longevity and enduring beauty. Whether you're drawn to Swiss precision, Japanese innovation, or avant-garde designs, understanding the heritage and reputation of different watchmakers is crucial.
Key Considerations
Budget: Luxury watches span a wide price range, from affordable entry-level models to exclusive haute horlogerie pieces. Set a realistic budget based on your financial comfort and desired features.
Style and Design: Your watch should reflect your personal style. Classic dress watches, sporty chronographs, or rugged divers—choose a design that resonates with your lifestyle and occasions you'll wear it for.
Brand Reputation: Established brands like Rolex, Omega, and TAG Heuer offer reliability and heritage. Newer brands like Grand Seiko bring innovation and craftsmanship. Research the brand's history, customer reviews, and after-sales service.
Movement Type: Decide between quartz, automatic, or manual movements. Automatic watches are admired for their craftsmanship and mechanical complexity, while quartz watches offer precision and low maintenance.
Materials: Luxury watches often feature premium materials like stainless steel, titanium, gold, or platinum. Consider durability, weight, and aesthetics when choosing the case and strap materials.
Choosing Your First Luxury Watch
When selecting your first luxury watch, consider a versatile piece that suits various occasions. A classic stainless steel or leather-strapped watch with a clean dial can transition seamlessly from boardrooms to weekends.
Maintenance and Care
Proper maintenance ensures your luxury watch retains its value and functionality over time. Regular servicing by authorized professionals and careful storage when not in use will extend its lifespan.
Conclusion
Choosing your first luxury watch is a significant decision that combines personal taste with practical considerations. Referencing this luxury watch guide can help you navigate the myriad options and find a timepiece that not only tells time but also tells your story.
Whether you're captivated by Swiss precision, Japanese craftsmanship, or European elegance, your first luxury watch should be a reflection of your journey and aspirations. Embrace the process, explore your options, and find the watch that speaks to you—a timeless companion for years to come.
In summary, this luxury watch guide aims to equip you with the knowledge and confidence to make an informed decision when purchasing your first luxury timepiece. Happy watch hunting!

Understanding the Chronograph
A chronograph watch is more than just a timekeeping device; it is an instrument of precision. The term "chronograph" comes from the Greek words "chronos" (time) and "graph" (writing), referring to a watch that can measure elapsed time in addition to displaying the regular time. This functionality makes chronograph watches popular among professionals such as pilots, divers, and sports enthusiasts who require precise time measurements.
The Legacy of Seiko Chronograph Watches
Seiko's legacy in the realm of chronographs is marked by innovation and excellence. The brand introduced its first chronograph watch in 1964, the Seiko Crown Chronograph, in time for the Tokyo Olympics. Multiple Functions: Seiko chronographs typically feature multiple sub-dials that display elapsed time in seconds, minutes, and hours. Some models also include additional complications such as a tachymeter scale, date display, and alarm functions.
Robust Design: Built to withstand the rigors of daily wear and adventurous activities, Seiko chronographs are crafted from durable materials like stainless steel, sapphire crystal, and ceramic. The robust design ensures that these watches can endure harsh conditions while maintaining their sophisticated appearance.
Water Resistance: Many Seiko chronographs are designed with water resistance, making them suitable for various water-based activities. For instance, the Seiko Prospex chronographs are perfect for diving and other aquatic adventures.
Aesthetic Appeal: Seiko chronograph watches come in a variety of styles, from the sporty and rugged to the sleek and elegant. The brand offers a range of designs to suit different tastes, whether you prefer a classic leather strap or a modern stainless steel bracelet.
Popular Seiko Chronograph Collections
Seiko Prospex: The Prospex collection is designed for professionals and adventure seekers. These watches feature advanced technologies and robust designs, making them ideal for sports and outdoor activities.
Seiko Astron: Known for its GPS Solar technology, the Astron collection includes chronograph models that offer unparalleled precision and convenience. These watches are perfect for frequent travelers who need to keep track of time across multiple time zones.

Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 “Save the Ocean” Special Edition Review
Tumblr media
Seiko’s Prospex with the reference number SRPF79K1 and the nickname Samurai is in many ways an exciting watch, which offers a lot at first glance and appeals to a wide target group. A well-known manufacturer, a professional diving watch with an automatic movement and an iconic design are just four of the features that Seiko’s Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 uses to captivate potential buyers. Understandably, who wouldn’t be intrigued by these features?
The Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 is all about Seiko’s “Save the Ocean” campaign, which the traditional Japanese manufacturer uses to advertise. In the spring of 2018, they entered into a partnership with ocean conservationist Fabien Cousteau.
The oceanographer is fully committed to protecting marine biodiversity. The Fabien Costeau Learning Center has been in existence since 2016. The facility is intended to become an information center for the protection of the oceans. Costeau wants to bring together marine biologists, environmentalists, divers and other experts here to educate about climate change and its consequences. As a world-renowned manufacturer of diving watches, Seiko is supporting the project. Across its product range, there are model collections in a “Save the Ocean” special edition. When you purchase one of these products, Seiko donates a portion of the proceeds to the Fabien Costeau Learning Center. That sounds worthy of support and somehow too good to be true. What’s the catch?
The first impression
Tumblr media
From a black cardboard box with a silver Seiko inscription, I take out the Seiko watch still wrapped in protective foil. “Prospex – Save the Ocean” is written on the inside lid of the box.  The Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 is a bulky diver with a massive buckle closing the silicone strap. I twist and turn the watch. Immediately, the wave design of the dial catches the eye, revealing that this is a “Save the Ocean” model. Last year, Seiko already introduced two new Prospex models from the “Save the Ocean” series that bear the distinctive surface structure. On a blue background are manta rays that seem to float across the dial. Combined with the blue bracelet, this is a perfect match for a diver’s watch with this name.
I touch the cold surface and touch the Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 for the first time. The watch feels very valuable. Huge dashes as indices, a date magnifier, and a countdown bezel give the Seiko model its classic diver design. In terms of naming its watches, Seiko is in a class of its own. The Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 owes its nickname “Samurai” primarily to the design of the hour and minute hands. This is inspired by historical samurai swords. The watch manufacturer is proud of its roots in the country of Japan.
The Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 on the wrist
Flipping it over, I’m amazed how light the Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 is on the wrist. With a diameter of a massive 44 millimeters and a height of 13 millimeters, the diver’s watch really doesn’t have to hide. The low weight, on the other hand, is astounding. Finding matching outfits for the Seiko watch does not turn out to be a great difficulty. The sporty casual design suits many occasions. At the same time, the Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 brings a certain prestige to the wrist with its sheer size. However, you should like the size and flashiness of a watch. The timepiece does not know the word understatement. But for me, these dimensions simply belong to a diver’s watch!
Tumblr media
The Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 in detail
The case
Tumblr media
For the case of its Prospex Samurai in “Save the Ocean” design, Seiko put a lot of emphasis on good build quality. The solid case structure is made of stainless steel, which has both polished and brushed surfaces, depending on the component. As you can easily see on the back, the middle part is visually separated from the lugs. The dial is protected by sapphire crystal. In the manufacturing process, Seiko made it anti-reflective, which benefits the readability under water. Those who really want to use the watch on the high seas or underwater will quickly appreciate this feature. I find the date magnifier at 3 o’clock very useful and well done. Most of us will probably associate Rolex watches with it.
The crown has a size that matches the watch, which makes it easy to operate. In the first stage, it is completely covered by a crown protector. In everyday life, this improves the wearing comfort immensely. The screw-down crown also stands out due to its easy-to-grip surface structure. If you turn it now, you’ll notice the slight play that the crown has. In my experience, this is a great relief when setting the time and date. The hands never shoot forward too quickly, so you can set the time accurately.
Bezel and case back
Tumblr media
The bezel is a diver’s bezel or countdown bezel. The tactile feel when the clicks engage is outstanding! Visually, it frames the lighter dial.
The cashback is screwed down six times. Instead of the usual date window, you’ll find the famous engraved waves on Seiko watches, reminiscent of “the great wave of Kanagawa”, a famous Japanese painting. If you search a little bit, you will also find your production number. 163 is the number of my Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K.
In its case, the Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 withstands a possible water pressure of 20 bar. 200 meters maximum diving depth would be possible. However, hardly any amateur diver will penetrate into these spheres.
The movement
For the movement, Seiko uses an automatic movement from its own production. In this case, it’s a Seiko 4R35 caliber, which is very reliable and durable. For the number freaks among you: with 23 jewels, the Seiko 4R35 has a power reserve of 41 hours. The oscillation frequency is 21600 vibrations per hour.
The Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 shows itself at its best…
…with the dial. The wave structure is something completely new, which I actually haven’t seen on a diver’s watch like this before. With the neatly printed rays, it gives the Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 a very interesting design.
And it is practical, too. That should be the focus for diving watches. The large line indices ensure perfect readability. To guarantee that even at night and in the dark, Seiko has given Samurai hands and indices a luminous function. Apart from the manufacturer’s lettering, the 200M indication, and the rectangular date window, there are no other elements on the dial. But that’s how it should be, after all – simple and straightforward.
Perfect for the water: the silicone strap of the Seiko Prospex Samurai SRP
Tumblr media
Silicone and rubber straps have emerged as one of the best solutions for diving watches. They do not age and are easily adjustable. This is also the case with the huge specimen that my Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 is equipped with. The buckle is made of stainless steel and bears the engraved Seiko lettering. However, what I liked the most about the bracelet is its practicality. In addition, it is quite comfortable to wear.
My conclusion about the Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 – a diver’s watch for everyone.
Tumblr media
I can understand why this Seiko diver with the reference number SRPF79K1 is so popular among customers. This Seiko Prospex in the “Save the Ocean” special edition is the diver’s watch for everyone! It looks exactly how you would imagine a diver’s watch to look: large, blue-black, with a bezel and a dial to match. On top of that, there are good materials, a high-quality finish, and stand-out features like the maritime skate design.
This already very good overall package is comparatively affordable. This makes the Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPF79K1 interesting for collectors and beginners alike.
If you have any questions or feedback, we would love to hear from you! Please contact us at [email protected] and we will be able to help you with any inquiry you have.

Window Shopper: Seiko 5
Tumblr media
Checking Out The New Seiko 5 Display @ The Bay In Montreal
I thoroughly enjoy browsing the various display cabinets and windows of watch shops everywhere I go. I happened upon the display above, while taking in my fiancee’s Tissot to be fixed at The Bay in Montreal. While waiting for an estimate, my eye wandered over to the canyons of display cabinets winding through the center of the main floor. This path led me in front of the new Seiko 5 display, the colours and strap combinations immediately catching my attention.
I had recently purchased one of these Japanese treasures from the Bay online store, having seen a review of it on youtube and suddenly my virtual wallet had screamed “Take My Money!!”. The particular piece I had purchased was the Seiko 5 SRPD77K1, or as the online world is now calling “The Avocado”, due to its particular avocado peel-like dial.
Tumblr media
In light of this purchase, the display above caught my attention because it provided me with the opportunity to see my new watches’ companions, in the metal. As some of you may know, the Seiko 5 lineup has been re-invented in various new straps/dial/colour combinations, offering a proverbial buffet for watch enthusiasts to indulge in. All of which come with automatic caliber 4R36 movements, 10 bar water resistance, a 42.5 mm case, and a stunning see-through case back.
A few key standout pieces from the display above are:
1) SRPD65K2
Tumblr media
2) SRPD75K1
Tumblr media
3) SRPD59K1
Tumblr media
BONUS:
For the eagle-eyed watch enthusiast, see if you can spot one of the watches in the display case that IS NOT a Seiko 5.
Hidden amongst the bevy of new Seiko’s is a hidden “Monster” lurking below the depths. At the very bottom of the picture, a Seiko Prospex Monster Diver can be seen, merchandised incorrectly in the Seiko 5 display briefcase. What A Catch!!

Gruppo Gamma makes some really cool watches. I have reviewed several of them and all were quite nice. Back in March of 2017 I reviewed their Vanguard A-04D (which you can see here.) That model has a rotating bezel and was powered by a Seiko NH35A movement. Gruppo Gamma has since discontinued that model and replaced them with the new Vanguard models. I got the chance to review the upgraded Bronze Vanguard Retro AN-13 and it’s all so, so good.
The Dial
I am really liking the dial on this Retro Vanguard. The green,  surrounded by the bronze case?  It really gives it that retro vibe. This is a simple three hander with lumed hour and minute hands, over a sandwich dial that gives some dimensionality to things. There is no rotating bezel on the Retro Vanguards (but you can get one on the other Vanguards). The bezel on this one is tapered and flush with the crystal. Overall I feel the look of this dial is just right. Clean and simple.
The Case
Made from bronze and measuring in at 44mm, this case really has the vintage diver tool watch look. Case is screw down and has the cool scull and rose Gruppo Gamma logo. The total weight of this is 140g – on the strap – which is just right. The screw-down crown is also made of bronze and really fits the proportions of the case. It’s also worth noting that the build quality and finish are very well done.
The Strap
A heavy duty strap befits a heavy duty watch and the one that came with this model couldn’t match any better. This strap is thick with contrast stitching, but not stiff, which means it’s quite comfortable all day long. The pin and buckle clasp is also made from bronze and large but fits the look of the watch.
The Lume
This Gruppo Gamma Retro Vanguard looks very nice in the dark. Using Swiss Super-LumiNova C3 on the hands and hour makers the watch glows and glows.
Overall Impression
As I am sure you have noticed I really like the watches from Gruppo Gamma. The put a lot of attention into the build quality of their watches. One is the biggest changes they have made to their new line of Vanguards is that they have upgraded the movement from the Seiko NH35A movement to the Swiss made ETA 2824-2. Adding to the great build quality of the watch this new movement choice really kick things up. For a price of $850 usd this is not a bad deal for what you get. If you like what you see go check them out at gruppogammawatches.com.
REVIEW SUMMARY
Brand and model: Gruppo Gamma Vanguard Retro AH-13
Price: $850 usd
Who’s it for: Military and the adventurous
Would I wear it:  Oh Yes
What I’d change: Like it the way it is.
The best thing about it: Its tough retro look.
Tech Specs from Gruppo Gamma:
Case
Mk IV Vanguard, CuSn8 bronze, brushed, water resistance 200m
Diameter 44mm, length 54mm lug-to-lug, height 13.5mm, lug width 24mm, weight 140g with strap

Movement
ETA 2824-2, automatic bi-directional winding, 28800 bph, accuracy between -30 to +30 s/ day, power reserve 38 hrs, Swiss made
Dial
Matte green sandwich dial, markers filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova® C3
Gold color hour and minute hands with Swiss Super-LumiNova® C3, red seconds hand
Strap
Distressed leather strap, burnt brown color, length 125/75mm, width 24/22mm with buckle. Leather has been treated to achieve a distressed look – scars, uneven texture etc. are deliberate, and no two straps are alike.

DAPPERED: In Review - The Seiko 5 Sports SRPE Automatic Watch
Gonna talk about 3 different lines of watches here, so, hang with me.
In a perfect world:
The iconic Seiko 007/009 dive watches would still be in production
The 007’s dive-style replacements, the Seiko 5KX, wouldn’t have shoved them out of the way
… AND these new(ish) Seiko 5 Sports watches would still be hitting the market, giving the non-diver “sports” line a much needed refresh...

9 Great Watches for Small Wrists (Under 40mm) // Seiko, Rolex, Hamilton and MORE
Tumblr media
What's up guys? My name is Brock. You're watching The Modest Man and today we're talking about some great watches for guys with a smaller wrist. Okay, if you clicked on this video, then you might have a smaller wrist, like I do. But if you're not sure about your wrist size, it's a good idea to measure. So, to measure your wrist, you just need a soft tape like a tailor's tape. You can also just use a piece of string. Wrap it around your wrist and then measure that string. But you want to wrap it around at the widest part of your wrist, right over the bone, and then that's your wrist measurement. So, my wrist is about six and a third inches around, that's definitely on the slender side. I think anything under 7 inches could be considered small, but if you're like six and a half inches or less, I would say that you should stick with smaller sized watches. Now, when we talk about watch size, we're really talking about the case diameter. That's the most important measurement. So, that's just how big is the case without the lugs or the crown and a small watch could be considered anything that's under 40mm in case diameter. I prefer like 38mm or less. I'll definitely wear watches that are 36 or 34mm. I think those are great sizes if you have smaller wrists. If you have a smaller wrist, I think under 40mm is the way to go. So, I've asked a few of my fellow YouTubers and watch enthusiasts to share some of their favorite watches for smaller wrists, under 40 millimeters and then after we hear from them, I will share one of my favorite watches for guys with small wrists. These are great guys, who really know their stuff. So, if you haven't already checked out their channels, definitely go do that. All right gentlemen, take it away. Hey gents, all feels right in the world when I have a small watch on my wrist. At 6'4" and 170, I'm tall and slim, but with six and a quarter inch wrist, I like something that's a little bit more subtle and elegant. I have videos on my channel, where I talk about my favorite watch in my collection, which is my 34mm Omega, which is a bumper model from the 50s. But if you can't go with something that's a little more vintage, I have two recommendations for modest wrists. Number 1 is from a company called Nordgreen. This is the Philosopher model. It's 36mm only, 7. 2mm thick. So, it has that really nice slim small profile, comes in at the $200 price point and it is designed by Jakob Wagner, who comes from Bang & Olufsen and he also has an exhibit in MoMA. It's a quartz movement, but it is hackable and so not only do they have several different metals and sizes, but they're nice slim and sleek and much better than most other fashion brands I've come across. Number 2 is from the Internet's favorite watch brand, which is Orient. This is their Stella model at 36mm. The list price is $350. It was $210 when I was doing this video. It's 12.5mm thick, and it has an open heart displaying the F6T22 movement. So, it's automatic, it's hand whining and hack-able as well. There you have it gents, two excellent affordable and modest size watches for those wrists. Thank you Brock for letting me represent Tall Guys on The Modest Man. If you want to know about the best menswear on the Internet, regardless of height, come over to my channel at The Kavalier. Until next time gents, this is The Kavalier. What's up fellas! My name is Barron, and I run a men's style website and YouTube channel called Effortless Gent. So my favorite watch, in particular, for my small wrist is my Rolex DateJust 16030. Now, I know it's not the most affordable watch, but I think if you can only have one really nice versatile watch, this is the way to go. The 16030 is a vintage model, this is in the early to mid 80s. It has a black dial that measures 36mm. I think that is the perfect size for smaller wrists. My wrist measures six-and-a-half inches around, and I think it fits perfectly. Although if I did have a bigger wrist, I wouldn't say that this watch looks terrible on that either. I think it's a really handsome watch, that will look good even if your wrist is 7 pushing 7. 5 inches around. I think what I love most about this watch is the versatility. Now, I could wear it with jeans and a sweater on my days off, but I could also dress it up with a suit. The jubilee bracelet is a really nice touch and just that steel, all steel watch, with a black dial, it just looks really sharp. Ofcourse, many brands like Seiko, Citizen, etc. make watches that are very similar, very simple, steel bracelets with steel casing and a black dial. So, you don't have to go the Rolex route, but I think if you are looking for something, that is vintage, that will last a long time, I think this is the way to go, and there are many resources online that you can check out, that you can actually buy a vintage Rolex for a relatively affordable price. All right fellows, I hope you like my suggestion. Thank you to Brock for having me in this roundup, and if you want to see more videos from me, please check out my channel, Effortless Gent. What's going on guys! Teddy Baldassare here, and a big thank you to Brock, for letting me come back on the channel. So, I have a youtube channel, talk all about wristwatches and really the whole goal of it is to create a new generation of watch lovers. So, if you want to learn more about watches, definitely go over there, subscribe, I'd really appreciate it. So, when thinking about watches for smaller wrists, this is something I've talked about a good amount. I wanted to pick a watch that I personally own and that is the Nomos Ahoi Neomatik. So, my wrist is 6. 25 inches. So, definitely on the smaller side of things, and when I wear this watch, I really don't get any overhang but the one thing you have to be cognizant of, when you're buying Nomis watches is the lugs are rather long. So, that 36mm, certainly is a little bit deceiving because this watch is going to wear more like a 38 to 40mm watch, with its lug to lug height, a thing that you really need to consider, it has a 45mm. And why I like this watch? I think it has a clean minimalist aesthetic. On top of that, it has an in-house caliber like I mentioned, and the 200 meters water resistance while not having a traditional diver bezel. Has all the specs of a diver, except does not have the bulky design that a lot of divers have. So, that is my choice here today. Thanks again to Brock for having me on, and hope to see you guys on my channel in the future. What's up everybody! I'm Alessandro; and Brock, thank you so much for having me on your channel today. I'm the host of The Standard Wrist, a channel, where we talk about watches for small wrists and general watch talk. Lists, reviews, these kind of things. Today, I'm rocking one of my favorites Seiko 5s ever and that is the Seiko SNXS79K. This one has a 37mm case, which suits my six inch wrist, no problem; and this has got to be the best looking dial for around $120. I mean, look at that gorgeous sunburst dial. This looks awesome in casual outfit or in a business environment. The supplied bracelet looks okay. Doesn't feel all that great, but put this bad boy on a suede needle strap and boom! It looks the absolute business. I've been rocking this one at a Grand Seiko event and people were actually asking me about it. This is just how good it looks. You just can't go wrong with this one and if you want to check my review, just go to my channel, The Standard Wrists. In the meantime, thank you so much again Brock for having me, and guys, stay stylish and keep watching! What's up YouTube! I am Christian from Theo and Harris. Thank You Brock, for having me on the channel. You asked me to bring my favorite conservatively sized watch; a watch that fits super well on a smaller wristed gentleman. But, since I own a thousand watches, that fit those criteria perfectly, I brought you three. Omega Seamaster, it may not look like it, but this is an original classic sports watch. Great examples can be had between a $1,000 and $2,300, and they are some of my favorite watches. Next, a Cartier Tank Louie. Something that I get a disproportionate amount of use from, because I happen to love dressing up. But a watch like this definitely belongs in everyone's collection. And finally Rolex's DateJust. The watch that I've built my entire career and watches around. It measures in 36mm. It wears extremely modern, beefy and substantial. I think it's probably the perfect middle ground between old and new worlds. So, that's it, those are my picks. Thank you so much for having me on. All right, thank you guys. So for me, one of my favorite watches for smaller wrists is the Hamilton Field Officer Khaki Mechanical - kind of a mouthful. I think it's usually just called the Hamilton Khaki Mechanical. It's the manual wind diversion of this watch, so there's an automatic version, but this version is a little bit thinner, so I really like the size. It's got a 38mm case diameter, which is a very universally flattering size. Even guys with bigger wrists, I think look really good wearing a 38mm watch. It's a Swiss made watch, but it's from a brand that was American originally, and it has a lot of cool history behind it, so if you care about heritage, Hamilton is a really cool brand. Since, I dress casually most days, I find myself wearing this watch at least a couple times a week, if not more. For the price, it really is one of the best everyday casual watches out there, especially if you like a mechanical watch as opposed to a quartz, and if you like that field watch kind of military aesthetic. This is about as big as I'll go. I definitely wear smaller watches, like 34mm watches, and I would wear a smaller watch than that like a Cartier Tank or something. Now, if you love bigger watches, if you like that over-sized look then, you know, by all means, wear a bigger watch, but if you do have smaller wrists like I do, and you want something that's gonna look proportionate on you, I would stick with something that's like 38mm or smaller. I will link to this watch and all the other watches mentioned in this video, down below in the description. Thanks again to everybody who helped me make this video. Go show these guys some support by subscribing to their channel. excellent affordable and modest sized watches for those wrists Thank You Brock for letting me represent tall guys on the modest man if you want to know about the best men's wear on the Internet regardless of height come over to my channel at the Cavalier so next time gents this is the cavalier what's up fellas my name is Baron and I run a men's style website and YouTube channel called effortless gent so my favorite watch in particular for my small wrist is my Rolex date just 1603 oh now I know it's not the most affordable watch but I think if you can only have one really nice versatile watch this is the way to go the 1603 o is a vintage model this is in the early to mid 80s it has a black dial that measures 36 millimeters I think that is the perfect size for smaller wrists my wrist measures six-and-a-half inches around and I think it fits perfectly although if I did have a bigger wrist I wouldn't say that this watch looks terrible on that either I think it's a really handsome watch that will look good even if your wrist is seven pushing seven and a half inches around I think what I love most about this watch is the versatility now I could wear it with jeans and a sweater or on my days off but I could also dress it up with a suit the jubilee bracelet is a really nice touch and just that steel all steel watch with a black dial it just looks really sharp of course many brands like Seiko citizen etc make watches that are very similar very simple steel bracelets with steel casing and a black dial so you don't have to go the Rolex route but I think if you are looking for something that is vintage that will last a long time I think this is the way to go and there are many resources online that you can check out that you can actually buy a vintage Rolex for a relatively affordable price I thought I hope you like my suggestion thank you to Brock for having me in this roundup and if you want to see more videos for me please check out my channel effortless gent what's going on guys Teddy Balthasar here and a big THANK YOU to Bronk for letting me come back on the channel so I have a youtube channel talk all about wristwatches and really the whole goal of it is to just create a new generation of watch lovers so if you want to learn more about launches definitely go over there subscribe I'd really appreciate it so when thinking about watches for smaller wrists this is something I've talked about a good amount I wanted to pick a watch that I personally own and that is the No Mas oh boy neo Matic so my wrist is 6. REVIEW: Yema Superman Bronze Black
Tumblr media
Almost to the day three years ago, after plenty of commenting on his posts and protracted badgering, I pried away a 70’s Yema 53 001 6 Superman with French caliber 4611 quick set movement from a Yema collector located in Paris.
That sort of provenance and it’s ghost bezel and therefore the unique bezel locking mechanism is that the stuff of #watchnerd lore and commenced an affinity with me for the brand.
Yema may be a French watchmaking company founded in 1948 in Besançon, France by Henry Louis Belmont. The brand has had noteworthy accomplishments throughout its years. They produced early anti-shock watches within the 50s and within the 60s the Yema Superman was water-resistant to a strong 300 meters (1963) and therefore the Yema Rallygraf was equipped with a tachometer for car enthusiasts (1968). In 1966, 1967 and 1968 Yema was the leading exporter of French watches with quite 500,000 sold each of these years across 50 countries. The Yema Spationaute was the primary (only?) French watch to fly in space with Jean-Loup Chretien in 1982 and therefore the Yema North Pole accompanied Nicholas Hulot (no “b” lol) and Hubert de Chevigny to the North Pole in 1987.
Tumblr media
Having been owned by Seiko Watch Corporation of Japan since 1988, Yema returned to French ownership in 2004, and in 2009 Yema was acquired by the French watchmaker group Montres Ambre, based in Morteau, France. In 2011 Yema released its first-generation self-winding mechanical in-house movement, the Caliber MBP1000. it's been utilized in over 250,000 Yema timepieces since then. Yema now has developed its second-generation in-house calibers exclusive to the brand.
Tumblr media
For this review, we've the Yema Superman Bronze black, (Ref. YSUPZ20C39-AAS), equipped with the new three-hand Yema 2000 caliber movement. Precision has been improved to 10 seconds each day rate accuracy (from a 20 seconds each day tolerance), and therefore the power reserve is now 42-hours.
Tumblr media
Keeping faithful its heritage, all Yema Superman models feature their unique bezel-lock at 3 o’clock. it's been found on all Superman models since 1963 and has proven useful to professional divers. As could be expected, the watch features a screw-down crown and features a vintage Yema logo engraved. The 316L chrome steel caseback is additionally engraved with Yema’s coat of arms. Water-resistance is 300 meters.
Tumblr media
Bronze that’s untreated will age differently counting on its use and weather exposed to, making each patina and watch unique over time. The hands and markers are treated with lume that's extremely legible. The watch without a strap weighs 68 grams. The steel case vintage Superman weighed in at 56 grams but due to the case material difference, it’s like comparing bronze apples to steel oranges.
Tumblr media
In a side by side comparison with my Yema Superman from the ’70s, they're precisely the same in every way minus a tenth of a millimeter (0.1 mm) greater thickness difference for the fashionable version, imperceivable to the attention or on the wrist. Both have a (measured by digital calipers) 39.5 mm case diameter, 47.8 mm lug to lug length, and 19 mm lug width. As previously mentioned, the thickness of the vintage auto is 13.5 mm, where the fashionable is 13.6 mm.
Tumblr media
I really like this particular Superman offering also because the revival of the brand and their other automatic watches as an entire . The bronze Superman has excellent wrist presence, catching multiple strangers taking a look at it during its outing within the wild with me and it feels a bit like its vintage counterpart on the wrist. I personally would have liked this model in steel better than bronze to match the authenticity of the first Yema Supermen of the 60s and 70s but it’s done alright and that they currently offer multiple steel Superman variations. i used to be also not an enormous fan of the OEM black leather minimal stitch strap pairing the model comes with and quickly changed it out for a vintage tropic strap and every one was right within the world once more . Yema currently also offers tropical rubber strap and steel bracelet options and that i suggest you accompany one among those. I even have a green canvas strap with its name thereon next which can be “the” combo for it but you’ll need to check my Instagram feed @kicktoc to ascertain for yourself.

From ancient technology to modern art.
The case of the C Ward C9 5 Days is not quite the same as the other watches in the C9x Harrison collection, even if it is not quite the same thicknes hublot big bang rose gold replica watchs. So, I've more or less reviewed the C900 Worldtimer and Single Pusher Chronograph before checking them out, but all in all, this is a very large case in terms of overall look and design. Measuring 43 x 51 x 14mm, it's definitely big, especially for something on the dresser side, but it works in its own way. It's masculine and handsome at the same time, with a solid, if not "sturdy" feel. Comparing it to something would be like wearing any larger marine chronometer on the outside. Despite the best rolex fake ir size, they have an elegant look. Consideri replica watchng that the name of the line comes from John Harrison.

Today, we’re reviewing a dive watch.  No surprises there.  As a matter of fact, we’ve previously reviewed a watch from Helm Watches as well, so, again, no surprise.  What is a surprise is how we came about to requesting this watch in for review.  As you know, when we’re looking at boots and shoes, we like to pair up a watch with said footwear.  Well, we’ve got a pair of boots in from Helm Boots (review coming soon!), and it seemed like something from Helm Watches just made sense.  Hence, today’s review of the Helm Vanuatu.
With the Helm Vanuatu, the namesake for the watch is setting you up for what to expect from it.  Vanuatu is an island in the South Pacific with famed coral reefs and even a WWII shipwreck.  So, yeah, that is a fairly hefty name to attach to a watch.  Fortunately for those who are fans of affordable indie dive watches, the one it’s attached to is a hefty one as well.  And you know you’re in for some heft when you’ve got a 42mm stainless steel case paired to a stainless steel bracelet.
That all adds up to a combined weight of 225g for the Helm Vanuatu, which is no mean weight.  That said, if you’re used to small-make divers (as I am) you quickly become accustomed to it.  If you want to cut that down some, though, you could instead swap out the bracelet for the NS1 nylon strap (included) which drops things down to a more manageable 120g.  Or, for that matter, just about any strap you might have to fit into those 22mm lugs (I’m partial to the canvas strap Helm included with our review loaner).  For me, though, I like the heft of a steel diver.  Sure, it may not be appropriate for all shirt cuffs, but it gives you that sense of robustness and ready-for-anything-ness that you want from a sport watch.
The Helm Vanuatu should be up for that adventure, as well.  It carries as 300m WR rating (to ISO 6425:1996 standard), which should keep that Seiko NH35 movement nice and dry.  Just remember to tighten up that screw down crown before you get the watch wet.  And, should you be trying to dive with the Helm Vanuatu, the very solidly-clicking 120-click unidirectional bezel will help you keep track of your time under.  Speaking of – our loaner had the black-coated stainless steel insert, but there are other bezels, and they are supposed to be interchangeable.  So, another option if you want to mix things up on your watch.
For me, though, the black bezel on the Helm Vanuatu was a perfect complement to the matte black dial of the watch.  The lumed indices on the bezel then pick up the massive lumed indices on the dial.  What’s not immediately noticeable (at least, it wasn’t for me) are the small orange pips at the hour markers.  At first, you think it’s just picking up the orange of the second hand – and it is.  But when you check the watch out in the dark, the discerning eye will see those pips are glowing as well.  It’s a small detail, but I like the additional bit of color that hits your eye in the dark.
Writing on the dial is ghosted in on the Helm Vanuatu, so it’s not that jarring (but it’s there if you want to read it).  For the date display, that got snuck in at the 6 o’clock position. Normally, we lambaste brands for not color matching dials and date wheels, but I realize there are cost concerns at play.  And while I wouldn’t mind seeing a dark date wheel here, given how Helm has sized their indices, the date window does a better job blending into the overall look than you might otherwise expect.  Almost makes you wish that wheel was lumed as well!
Suffice to say, the Helm Vanuatu is a good-looking watch.  The matte dial and brushed surfaces keep things from being to flashy, and the watch, overall, just has those rugged “yeah, I’m a dive watch, what about it?” sort of looks.  It may not be for everyone, but it’s a style that I was drawn to when I first started getting into watches, and continue to like to this day.  Wearing the watch around, well, it works as great as you might expect.  The solid links on the bracelet are easy to size with the included screw driver (shame the curvature on the end links doesn’t quite match the lugs), and with drilled lugs, changing straps is simple as well.  This means comfort is easy to establish, even with a watch of this size.  I wore it primarily to the office and on the weekends, and found it to be a solid casual option.
The one wrinkle in the whole scenario here is that the Helm Vanuatu is currently out of stock.  And, given what you’re getting out of this watch at a very, very tasty price of $275 (plus another $30 for shipping), that is not all that surprising.  They’re working to get the watch back in stock, so keep an eye on their site if you’re looking to pick one of these up.  For someone who has yet to pick up an independent dive watch, the Helm Vanuatu has a lot of great characteristics that I think will sell you on this style and approach to a watch.  In other words, pick one up, and you will not be disappointed.  And hey, at this price, you’ll have some extra left over to pick up a few straps to swap in as well.  helmwatches.com

The other thing you need to understand about such watches is because are not actually waterproof. Many expensive brands claim theyrrrve water-resistant, if you actually ask the users they knows that it's not at all so, hence its far better go on your leather bracelet. The other model that i was searching for in comparison to the Suunto D9 was the Aeris F10. I learned that it had more negatives than positives with relation to set to the top level. Previous buyers have also complained about internal software issues. It is also quite downright costly. The Aeris is not as stylish as the D9 it will would likely serve its purpose regarding any beginner or a recreational scuba diver. Tell period and Best Wrist Watch be worn on the wrist. It works as an eye fixed and very long as as the GPS is turned off, it are for more than 3 weeks on an electric. In GPS mode, it only goes considerably as 8 years. It sets the period and time zone automatically. Seiko's quality is so impressive; they offer something called the Seiko Flight Computer. With this, a pilot is allowed to setup navigation and configure the amount fuel needed from the unit. You can be positive that if a pilot will to trust this company to provide this information, there is a few trust simply take be used in their plenty of cash as better. Well, there is certainly several methods for buying cargo. It is the same case with amazing and attractive designer watches. The simplest approach is that you out sarasota real estate to a known clock shop or supermarket as you can see different associated with timepieces a lot of. You can find distinct types of clocks having different colors and styles. Thousands of brands offer unique varieties of watches including wall clocks as well as pieces. So, you can select the one which is in line with your method. Obviously, price is too important give some thought to. So, if you think a seller is asking too expensive rates can leave him to reach the other a person. Remember that you have a vast number of time pieces so there is no need that you buy costly item without any reason. I actually wear it even after i am not diving while it is sleek and quite contemporary. The only downfall with this model is that you have no replacement battery option to Wrist Watch Reviews the human being. However, the recent craze over watches holds nothing to do with wearing them on the wrist. Instead, manufacturers have come up using a way for consumers to hold the time piece on a coat or somewhere visible - like what you would do having a medallion. Ought to something new and it's an exciting phenomena. Now, the product is highly visible, and Cardieo Smart Watch Reviews it is a nice alternative for Cardieo Smart Watch App the traditional wrist view. It can also act as an ornamental accessory. Tell you how far you've walked (or driven) on the golf teaching. The Approach S1 golf watch has an odometer on face value so you may how far you've visited.

The Best Dive Watches Under $300
Looking for the best dive watches under $300 to accompany you in the dark depths of the vast ocean? If so, you’ve come to the right place!
Dive watches are one of the most versatile and durable types of sports watches.
Since they were first introduced at the turn of the 20th century, dive watches have come a long way in terms of durability, reliability, and style, and now serve utilitarian purposes as well.
In case you’re new to the concept of dive watches, here’s a brief crash course for you.
For dive watches to be able to survive underwater, they have to be water and corrosion-resistant. Moreover, they should have a unidirectional bezel and luminous markers to allow you to see the time in the dark depths of the sea.
If you’re looking for the best inexpensive dive watch that meets your needs without breaking the bank, then this article is just for you.
If you do have more cash to spend, I also have an overview of the best dive watches under $1000 and the best dive computers for beginners that are mostly under $300 as well.

Hands On Review - Spinnaker Bradner
Disclaimer: Spinnaker Watches sent Canadawatchgram this watch for free for the purposes of this review. It needs to be said upfront that a free watch doesn’t guarantee a good review (or even a review at all) – as impartiality is held above all else here. Had the watch not met my standards of quality, it would not have appeared here at all. But since you’re here and it’s here, you can guess where this is going.
First though for those new to watches, Spinnaker is one of multiple watch brands of Dartmouth Brands, which sells watches made by Hong Kong watch maker Solar Time, Ltd. They make sporty watches with a direct nautical influence with some named after key nautical personalities. All Spinnaker watches are sold at very affordable price points and most offer solid specs for the money.
The first Spinnaker I ever saw was a “Wreck”, a watch with an intentionally distressed look (hence the name), which I thought was a great idea though not something I was into at the time. Despite this exposure to Spinnaker, I’ve not had a chance to own another one as they’re not widely available in Canada. Fast forward to April 2019 when Spinnaker reached out directly and asked if I’d like to review one. A few messages later and Spinnaker has graciously provided me with a brand-new Bradner SP-5062-02 to review. Honestly, I respect a brand that is willing to offer up a free watch to a unsigned brand ambassador or influencer. It shows they’re confident in their product – but would the Bradner meet Canadawatchgram’s expectations?
Well, after wearing it for the past week I’m ready to deliver my verdict. In short – yes – it’s a winner.
So what’s the “Bradner”? The Bradner is a retro-styled dive-inspired dual-crown watch that bears a strong resemblance to the Dan Henry 1970 and a few vintage compressor divers from 70’s like the Wyler Dynawind Super Compressor. The Bradner is named after Hugh Bradner, an American Manhattan Project physicist who is credited with inventing the neoprene wetsuit. After the war Bradner investigated the problems encountered by frogmen staying in cold water for long periods of time. He developed a neoprene suit which could trap the water between the body and the neoprene, and thereby keep them warm. After his invention became known as the "father of the wetsuit." Bradner lived to the age of 92, passing away in 2008. It’s unknown how much input (if any) Bradner’s family had on this watch; but regardless it’s still a fitting tribute to an icon.
Let’s get the specs out of the way first:
·         42mm Stainless Steel Case
·         50mm Lug To Lug
·         14mm Thick
·         22mm Lug Width
·         Seiko NH35 Automatic Movement
·         180 Meters Water Resistant
·         Leather Strap
I’m not going to lie, the height and heft of this watch was surprising when I first unboxed it. This is definitely a watch you’ll feel on your wrist and yet at the same time it was extremely comfortable to wear. I took it on a number of trips during the May long weekend and not once did I find it to be uncomfortable, nor did I find it got in the way, despite it’s height.
This watch has a number of great features  - the first being the slightly domed sapphire crystal which is great to see (and really should be standard at this price point – ahem Seiko). On the case’s side is a screw-down crown at 4 o’clock that controls the time setting, while a non-screw down crown at 2 o’clock adjusts the bi-directional inner bezel. The bezel’s minute markers – like the hands and hour markers – are coated with lume, that while not the brightest I’ve come across (like Seiko or Szanto) – is still good enough to post on Instagram on Friday night after a short charge (which I have already!). The inner bezel combines with the curved edge of the sapphire crystal and delivers a really cool distorted three-dimensional retro look. A signed Spinnaker “yacht sail” logo adds a nice flair to the 4 o’clock crown. The overall finish is nearly perfect. I did not detect any blemishes or rough finishing anywhere on the watch.
The sunburst dial is also a looker – and though not “vintage”, it gives the watch a very premium dimension vs if it had been just a plain black dial. A nice touch by Spinnaker there. Expect others to notice this watch!
Water resistance is set at 180m, which is more than enough for anyone who isn’t planning on taking this on a serious dive. The leather strap is more water resistant than regular straps as well – it’s a hefty chunk of leather that Spinnaker claims is water-proof treated so the watch should not have any trouble handling any emergency water situation. A signed, brushed buckle completes the set up. I suppose at some point, I’ll be tempted to swap the strap for a Bond-nato but honestly, unlike many entry-level watch straps, this strap is a keeper.
Under the hood, The Spinnaker-decorated Seiko NH35 movement has been referred to as a “workhorse” a million times before. In short, it’s a reliable and robust movement based on the solid 4R36 calibre that appeared in 2011. It’s a 24 jewel movement with a 41 hour power reserve that hacks and handwinds. And while some entry-level automatic movements or watches like the Orient Mako can suffer from noisy rotors, the Bradner’s case design rendered this movement whisper quiet – which was a welcome change  - and I never notice it when it’s on my wrist.
So no watch is perfect and any review that doesn’t point out a product’s flaws simply wouldn’t be honest. So as far as cons go, there was one thing that does bother me about the Bradner and that’s the inner bezel crown. It’s not a screw down, so it’s held in place by friction and for me I felt with was waaay too easy to turn and often found it got moved around just through regular wear. Even shooting it I’d turn my wrist and the inner bezel would move. This would no doubt make it difficult to use it to time something in a busy environment. I also felt the Super Luminova faded fairly quickly even if it was bright at first. Lume is tricky though for an affordable watch collector who has been spoiled by Seiko’s amazing in-house lume – and I’d put this lume on par with a Citizen or Hamilton of around the same price. I’d personally love to see a future Spinnaker with tritium tubes.
In conclusion – for under $400 Canadian,  there’s a lot of watch here and it competes well with any number of microbrand divers that have recently flooded the market. Overall I’d give the Bradner 4.5 out of 5 stars. It’s perfect for anyone who appreciates value but are still looking for a watch that’s a little different from the normal Submariner or Fifty Fathoms microbrand dive watches you’ll find everywhere. It’s also perfect if you’re craving a vintage look but still want a modern size and specs. The stainless steel case, bulletproof movement and screw down crown should keep this watch running worry-free for decades.
For me this is a keeper – a nice addition to my collection that will be a great everyday wear or casual wear watch around the office. Thank you Spinnaker!
