So i think alot about the god siblings because i love them, but one of the favourite aspects that i recently came up with is about Shadlan. She starts the story dead and we'll never see her alive, we never get to hear her side of things, never learn who she truly is. We only experience Shadlan trought the lenses of other characters.
To Akila she's weak naive and childish, someone that needs to be guided and protected by her.
To Ryu she's ignorant of their reality, kind but disingenuous with a mightier-than-thou attitude.
To Hiraki and Imay, she's mom, she's protective, she's warm, she's love incarnate.
To Mortals in general she's god, perfect and flawless, everloving and ever forgiving.
To Odira she's callous and manipulative, irresponsible and flippant.
and so on.

God thinking bout Akila again, she was at the beguining a good person, heroic actually she wouldnt have become a spirit in the first place if she were not. But above all she was always ambitious and arrogant, she started uncovering the truth about the universal cycles, she sought the Archivist for a way to break the cycle once and for all, to bring a true utopia finally for her and her siblings. But the way the Archivist presented to her she would have to forsake everything. And she accepted that price, her arrogance convincing her she was the only one capable of putting an end to it, she refused to share the truths she learned. She ascended into godhood by cheating, and then started to work on creating the perfect life form. She failed and failed and failed until the first demon was created, it was deeply flawed by design but she was overcome with pride and love for the thing she created and refused to accept it as anything but perfect. Her brother found out and ended up becoming involved, but eventually he would come to regret and abandon her driving further the idea no one else could bear this burden. She started a war, and as it dragged on it became less about finding a way to break the cycle and more about her own pride. The war ended and she was defeated and it became about vegance, she surrounded herself with her demons, worshiped revered, no one dared to opose her in her realm, she lost sight of what her objective was, what was the meaning of her fall, why she went down her way. She sits on her castle, surrounded by her thralls, searching for a way to restore her core, to produce more demons, to destroy the ones who opose her.

i was thinking about brainstorming some new characters but then i realize that the dynamic i wanted was basicly Akila/Althia/Shadlan wich is an insane take and would only work if everyone involved was significantly watered down but like,,,,,, its a good dynamic,,,,,

I had the absolute best tought about how to caracterize Tanza! Rhena, and it is that she was raised by Althia.
Important context is that Part 2. Althia is absolute miserable. Her wife is dead (debatable) the mortal realm is completly fucked, the demon realm has been in complete disaray since Akila's (debatable) death, her body is starting to crumble, she tried so hard and got so far etc etc. And then in the middle of her aimless wandering trought a broken world she stumbles upon this little shard of the sibling Akila loved so much she (debatably) died for, maye Althia should just kill her because how mad shes still is at Shadlan, but she doesnt, she knows Akila wouldn't have allowed that and she then teaches her The Way of the Sword before ditching her in some run down town for no aparent reason

The Tanza Arcs
A rough outline of the three phases i've planned for the headworld.
Part 1
Starts with the death of Shadlan at the hands of a mortal. The main characters are Imay, Hiraki and Dressia, all of them have separate but intertwined storylines. The first half of part 1 ends with the defeat of Akila. Part 1.2 is set after a timeskipf ten years, with the world recovering and flailing without a god for guidance, and ignites a conflict between the three, with Imay and Hiraki pursuing a way to ascend to godhood and Dressia oposing them. It ends with Hiraki betraying Imay and sealing her in the Astral Realm, he ascends alone and then proceeds to destroy the Pillars of Creation causing the spirit world to collapse on the mortal realm. Dressia and her followers go into hiding.
----
Part 2
A more confined story. Tanza has been trhown in complete chaos, and the new God Hiraki, sets up a Paradise on the moon where he takes his chosen few to live and abandons the rest of the people. The main character is a strange mortal named Rhena, she has no memories and is very resistant to dying wich she uses to make a living on the few safe settlements. Unfortunatly she catches the attention of the God who sends an envoy to scout for her, but also the attention of Dressia who does the same, both believing her to be important for their schemes. Ending still unclear but segways into part 3
----
Part 3
The last part is the conclusion of the conflict between the people of Tanza and those of Paradise. The Main character is Slynel, a boy from Paradise who is haunted by strange visions. He ends up making friends with spies from Tanza, and is wrapped in the plot to bring Hiraki down, as well the truth about his visions. Its just as convoluted as part 1 as the arcs of many characters from it finally get resolved. Ends with Imay killing Hiraki and then herself, ridding the world of the final remains of the gods. The Cycle is broken and humanity now living both Tanza and Paradise can set forth for a new era.

Tanza Mortal Races
Draki
Here
Humans
Humans are the defacto dominant species of Tanza, morphologically speakin they are exactly the same as real life humans, except they have long, mobile ears. Humans dont have natural bright colours (purple/blue stuff like that) unless they have Drakin ancestry, but human mages who spend a lot of time handling Neautra may come to experience abnormal coloration, usually the eyes, tip of the finguers and hair.
Speaking of Neautra, unlike Drakin that have a natural gift for it, pure blood humans are not able to naturally wield Neautra and must use conduits to cast magic, such as spellbooks (books with ready to use spells written out that simply need to be activated), Jewels made of Crystalized Neautra, or in some more radical cases tatooing spells on the body that allow for instant cast.
Humans form the Izeriath Empire, a very technologically advanced nation, (they have stuff like fantasy internet, magic phones, magic cars etc) as well culturally diverse given its immense size. It spend much of its history struggling to keep itself togheter, tought it has been pretty stable for the past century.
One of the most dark periods in Izerianthi history has been 500 years ago, when a Demon Lord managed to breach into the mortal realm right into the empire's capital, that demon lord started a 20 year reign of terror, mortals had never faced a demon this powerful before, and only thanks to an Izerianthi and Drakin alliance managed to finally slay him.
The Empire had a very closed relationship with the spirits, their archmages were able to communicate and learn their language to master powerful magics, The Imperial Family had a deal with a spirit and blessed by it, and the Gods had a honorary seat at the State Council. It was enjoying a very nice period of stability, until the god Shadlan was killed by a mortal, the spirits turned on them and demon attacks have become more and more common.

Tanza lore drop hell yea
Tanza is the name of my main headworld, it's a fantasy/sci-fi mix with two main races of people the Drakin and the Humans, aside from them there are also the Spirits and Demons, not necesssaily supernatural beings since their existence is very real, with demons often attacking mortal settlements, and while spirits are unable to interact directly to the realm due to limitations, they have granted mortals the skills needed to defend themselves. The main magical energy source is called Neautra and it works like Mana/Aether in classic rpgs, its the source of life/essence of the soul/magic what gives.
Main Locations
Tanza only has two main continents, a large land mass that irl would be equivalent to the whole of Eurasia + few small islands, called Yiver and a smaller one equivalent to Australia that known as Draki.
In Yiver is located the Iseriath Empire, the most powerful nation, it controls the entirety of Yiver, due to its enourmous size, its divided in many sub-divisions that are semi-autonomous. The capital Izeriath City is located at the very center of the Empire. It has been ruled by the Izeriath Imperial Family since its founding 10000 years ago, the current ruler being Emperor Eidon XI. The majority of the empire population are Humans. People from the Empire are called Izerianthi.
Draki unlike Yiver doesnt have one government, instead its filled with many Drakin clans all competing for control. In their past the Arigon clan has managed to consolidate the continent into one unified kingdom but it did not lasted for long. Some clans have closer relationships with the Empire than others. Drakins are the main workforce behind the Demon Hunters, with the metal needed to produce the special weaponry and armor for killing demons being found only in Draki.
Demons and Spirits
Demons and Spirits shape the course of history in Tanza. With the creations of Demons by the God Akila altering the very fabric of the universe. Demons unlike spirits are not bound to their realm of origin, and can transverse between planes with no consequences. They are creatures of pure Neautra but do not posess cores to stabilize it and thus must always consume more to maintain their form, hence their destructive nature. While Spirits are also beings of pure neautra, they have a solid core that stabilizes them and works basicly producing and recycling its own energy constantly forever. Spirits are meant to be guardians of the mortal realm, against what not even they themselves remeber. Whatever enemy they were supposed to protect the mortals against is no longuer a treat, and so Spirits have become...unruly, trying to interact with the mortal realm, often causing as much trouble as demons.
The Gods
This Tanza is not the first of its iteration, The Archivist recalls infinite worlds before this one, an ancient experiment created by the first gods, with the objective of creating the Perfect World, but gods are finite in their lifespan as well, and the experiment must go on. So after each iteration of the Tanza experiment, the most powerful, benevolent souls of this era are tested and three of them will be chosen as the next gods to continue until one world succeds.
Akila, Daimos and Shadlan are the three gods of this current world.
Akila: The eldest, Mother of Demons, The Spider, Being of Fire. Somehow she became a god, maybe in her previous life as a mortal she was indeed a good person but that is long gone. Controling, cruel and egotistical are some of the kinder words used to describe the Mother of Demons. Bound to the demon realm, had her core semi-broken and greatly weakened.
Daimos: The middle one, Traitor, Being of Water, also known as Ryu. When Akila created the first demon, it was with the help of Daimos. He believed that her plan would work and they would come out victorious and change the fabric of the universe. The plan obviously failed, but Shadlan is a benevolent god, and thus spared her sibling. Instead binding his godly form away and ordering him to walk the world as a mortal, and atone for his crimes by helping the people he doomed, once he understood the value of the world he could ascend again. This in turn turned him into a Doomer, he thinks himself way too far gone for any form of redemption and has not bothered to do any major breaktrought in his character development for the past millenia or so.
Shadlan: The Younguest, Patron of the Arcane, Being of Wind, also known as Aria. One god was never meant to rule alone. Shadlan tried to bear the immense burden alone but in the end even she broke and sought to avoid it. She had an immense love for the mortal realm, having died quite young in her previous life, she sought to learn, to see, to experience everything the mortal realm could offer, and so often took undercover trips, breaking the rules she so often tried to enforce, this would end up being her doom, as in one of these visits, while pretending to be a nun, she met a young priest named Rune and fell in love. The two had a pair of twins named Imay and Hiraki, and for a few years Shadlan managed to keep up this double life, but somehow, she was found out and then killed...by a mortal.

More characters
also very important!
Althia: Althia is...a strange individual, one of the few half-spirits ever documented, she was created as a means to fight against the Demon Lord that invaded and nearly destroyed the world 500 years ago. Once that was accomplished, she was promptly discarted. In her dying moments the burning hatred and anger at this betrayal was enough to catch the attention of Akila, who proposed a deal, Akila would ressurect and even grant Althia some of her power, if she became Akila's vassal, obviously she accepted. Althia rules over the Wastelands and control the portal to the Demon realm. She's fiercely independent, and despite serving Akila she never obeys the demon queen for free. She's callous, rancourous, very nasty and hostile to most everyone, likes to rub in the demons faces the fact Akila likes her best. She's in a relationship with Akila, what kind of relationship? no idea man, its a relationship alright...
Eldra: The Royal Huntress, one of the most powerful mortals alive. A very tall drakin woman, Eldra comes from a clan with a long history of demon slaying and she is by far the best the clan ever produced. Blessed by the Spirit Enora, she can summon up to 3 spirit familiars to aid her in battle, tought its been a few years since she last stepped into the battlefield, most days her work involves just managing the HQ . She's Garlasia and Drogan's Aunt and has a daughter named Rhae, who also works in the Hunters but in a admin position. Eldra is well liked by most of her colleages, has a very upbeat and positive attitude, playful and relaxed even in the face of danger, most aspire to be like her.
Yiamira: A half demon, works for Ryu (Daimos). She's sassy and a little strict. Cares alot for Ryu as he saved her from the streets as a young girl and is the only person in recent memory he has sharedhis past and his secret identity with. She really wants to see him ascend back on his feet, a way to pay back all the good he gave her, but she has sort of lost hope at this point, perhaps asking an immortal to change is too much. Still she sticks around, making sure he doesnt cause more trouble for other people.
Aella: A mercenary and Dressia half-sister, has been trying to locate her since they were separated as children. A few years older than Dressia, Aella is a drakin with water powers. Is currently working for The same crimminal group Dressia is a part of, but both are oblivious to that. She's pretty rough around the edges, a bit stiff and very serious.
Hera: The chief of the Criminal Organization (it still doesnt have a name i suck at names) She's charismatic, and surprisingly honest always fulfilling her part of the bargain, but cruel and dangerous to those who try to double cross her. Loves Dressia like her own child, and is very paranoid about her leaving since she's very aware of the girls desire to be reunited with her biological sister, so she does what she can to keep the demigod around. Is secretly in possession of one the Shards of Shadlan core and has grand plans to it

Tanza: The Demigods
Now that the overall setting is laid out, here are the Main characters
Imay: Elder twin sister of Hiraki. A short human/Avian Drakin (Shadlan mortal disguise was that of an Avian drakin woman), large dark blue wings that can be disguised as a feathery coat, her most distinguishing feature is the blue gem on her forehead, and her white eyes. Blinded by the blast that resulted from Shadlan's death, Imay was reascued by a servant of Akila and taken to the Demon realm where the Demon Queen took the girl under her wing. Imay is very sensitive to Neautra and thanks to some extensive training, is now able to ''see'' by perciving the innate Neautra of the world around her (think Toph earthsensing). Shes a magic prodigy despite her young age, not even taking in account her godly parentage, she's able to memorize and perform complex spells quickly and with ease. Not a pleasant person to be around, she has a massive ego, controlling and rude. She has no hobbies, no friends and no life.
Hiraki: Yonguer Twin of Imay. Just slightly taller than Imay, his wings are golden and he usually disguises them as a cape, has a yellow gem on his forehead and green and golden eyes. Unlike Imay, Hiraki was protected from the blast and sustained no major injuries, he was rescued by Hunters days after it, and then raised by them. Hiraki is meant to be a symbol for the people, with his shiny wings and heavenly appearance, he has been trained to eliminate demons and does so with extreme effiency. Unlike his sister, he has never gotten a hang of spell magic preferring to use his innate magic gifts. He projects a kind and protective face for the world, but its acutally a very withdrawn, sullen and arrogant person. He likes music and has a lovely singing voice, and reading historic novels.
Dressia: Daughter of Daimos, tought she has never met him, she's a drakin young woman, her horns and spines resemble bones, her gem is a greenish-blueish hue. Dressia was separated from her older half sister, when they failed to make ends meet and she was taken by a criminal gang to be either sold in the magical black market, or used by them as a weapon. These plans never came to fruition as that gang was wiped by Another more powerful one, lead by a woman named Hera. She took pity on Dressia and adopted the demigod as hers. Since then Dressia has worked with them, often acting in a vigilante fashion to crack down on the magic black market. Dressia unique power is of Necromancy, a rare forbidden art, as well her natural drakin element of water. Dressia has a staunch moral code that she follows to a T. She's dutiful and doesnt shy away from responsabilities, kind and passionate, with some self sacrificional tendencies. She doesnt take failure lightly.

suddenly in the middle of the xiv hyperfixation the headworld ocs broke trought and afforded me some Toughts.
Mainly relating to the gods and demigods because they are my foucus of interest.
Shadlan loved the world despite its flaws, she knew it wasnt perfect and she wasnt going to fix it. She loved it the way it was, and fought to mantain the status quo, even at the detriment to everyone around her. She abandoned her duties as the last remainig of the Triad to live out her domestic fantasy and that was her doom.
Akila was a revolutionary. She became a villain willingly because she wanted to change the universe she lived in, but her unchecked arrogance and pride caused her to stray from her righteous objective and just become a despot. Im still debating wheter she should die at the end of the first arc or not. Because on one hand, her being the last god standing being gone, would fit thematically with humanity finally going their own way. But also her, letting go of the utopic dream of building a better world for her siblings and instead choosing the world she has in the present makes for a nice character arc too.
Ryu is cursed to walk the land as an immortal man. They abused their power and were stripped of it They dont believe in change and hasnt really tried to change. He fills his life with frivolities to pass the time as he waits for Akila to bring about the end. Nothing matters, they are all imprisioned in themselves. She just wants to forget the past, forget her regrets forget herself.
Hiraki thinks hes the saviour of the world. The sole survivor of the aftermath of his mother assasination, hes her heir, the one who will rid the world of the stain that is demons. He will bring about a new age, and will rid anyone who stands in his way. When Akila is dealt with he's ready to take her place as the resident god emperor of the world, because humanity needs a leader, and he is that guy.
Imay doesnt think about grand schemes, she's single minded foucused on the pursuit of knowledge, of strenght, of power, so no one can hurt her anymore. The fate of the world doesnt matter as much as the fate of those close to her. She wants to unravel the mystery regarding her mothers death, she wants to discover the secrets Akila has kept for her, she wants her aunt to look her in the eye with anything but contempt. She just wants a hug.
Dressia was a weapon, and a weapon is meant to be unfeeling. But she care so much, she cares about her friends, about the injustices she sees, and she wants to change it, she sees the damage the gods have caused and sees that humanity is better off without them, depsite being a demigod she refuses to take the tittle, she refuses to be their saviour. She will lead them, and she will help. But no temples will be build in her name, and no prayers will be sung. She bleeds and dies like any other after all.

Tanza Rambles
just need to remind myself the progression of the universe
part 1
Shadlan dies leaving her two kids orphaned. Imay is taken by Akila while Hiraki is raised by the Hunters. Akila decides to end it all, and with the support of Ryu starts fucking shit up. Eventually Imay is sent to live with Aster under the guise of an aprenticeship. Hiraki has to work with rising squad Garly, Eri, Kyran and Drogan due to his bad behaviour. Meanwhile Dressia is trying to stop her adoptive mother from building weapons of mass destruction with shards of Shadlan core. Eventually all of them meet and realize that their seemingly unreleated plot threads are all connected to Akila trying to end the world. They join forces and kill her. Ends on a high note about Humanity moving foward without the gods hindering them.
Part 1.5
Hiraki Saviour complex acted up and he ascended to godhood, but he did so in the most messy way possible and kinda destroyed the fabric of reality and millions died. Grabbed the Humans and moved to the moon to build His Paradise, leaving the Drakin and Demons to fight for the scraps of what is left from Tanza.
Part 2
A small country called the Last Realm has formed from the remains of the Izerath empire, they cling to the old ways worshiping spirits and gods and resist against the demon Queen. Rhena is one scavenger living in a small settlement, when she gets scouted to join an elite squad of hunters after killing a powerful demon seemingly on her own. However shes like super not qualified, she doesnt even have an elemental connection, and so to live up to the expectations she finds increasingly more dubious methods of achieving power. However what she fights for is a lie, the spirits are all dead and god hates them, the only way to restore their world is to ally with the demons against Hiraki.
Part 3
A boy from Hiraki perfect moon utopia is haunted by dreams of a woman calling out to him. His name is Slynel. Magic is non existent in this society and any caught practicing it are seen as heretics and killed, wich makes him even more anxious when he starts showing signs of it. He and his friends are caught on the scheme to defeat Hiraki, and turns out Slynel may be the key to defeat him, by allowing Imay, the woman who has been mentally torturing him for years, to take over his body to fight, but as he grows stronguer the harder it becomes to wrestle back control from the vengeful demigod.

So i love the Tragic Trio of the past and their modern times equivalent (in relation to the story) and im quite happy of the fact i managed to implement this trope twice in my headworld.
For the first Era we have
The dead one- Shadlan
The Shadow of their former self- Ryu
The unhinged one - Akila
their equivelents are their respective demigods obv (hiraki, dressia and imay) and then in the Third act, the demigods take over these roles as they end up falling from grace in different more fucked up ways
The dead one- Dressia
The shadow of their former self - Imay
The unhinged one- Hiraki

Tanza: Neautra
ive realized i never explained what Neautra is LOL.
Neautra is the Tanza stand in for mana/life force/aether/ etc. all living beings have some amount of neautra, and even some inorganic things such as crystals, metals and water can have some natural neautra.
In living beings, the Neautra is a sign of life, sort of like a heat signature. Beings who have an above normal Neautra signature means they can manipulate the energy in the form of elemental magic or raw energy. Beings with a below average Neautra signature, usually have short lifespans and are more easily affeceted by disease. Similarly those with abnormaly high Neautra also have short lifespans as their body literally cannot hold all that energy.
Elemental magic is the most common form of natural neautra manifestations, with many animal and plant species being able to wield their Neautra this way. The Draki are the most prolific in this, their culture is build upon their elemental abilities, having developed intricate techniques of manipulation their neautra in different ways and able to even manifest sub elements.
Crystals are innanimate but have a capacity of absorbing Neautra passively from its surroundings. Over the millions of years many crystal varieties have absorbed enough Neautra that it manifest in magical ways. Crytals are often used as conduits for human mages, that do not have natural magic capacities, or as amplifiers for natural Neautra skills, and more recently, as energy source for tech.
Water similarly can absorb Neautra from its surroundings, and in turn, affect the beings that live in it or drink from it. Many natural fountains can be found with light healing/rejuvenating capacities.
Metal is the last innorganic form that can absorb Neautra. Thought this was not trought natural means, and in fact by Godly intervention from Shadlan as a way to help mortals defend from the demon threath. Specific metalic veins have been blessed by the god, and become heavyly Neautra rich.
Spirits are beings of pure concentrated Neautra, their bodies are usually incorporeal except for their core, a gem like structure that is their Neautra. If a core is shattered, the resulting blast will obliterate and poison the land and every being around it.
Neautra while being the life force of the entire world, it is also very dangerous in high concentrations to mortals, causing what is known as 'Neautra poisoning' wich often leads to death. Simlarly, places with nearly no Neautra cannot hold life.
There is said to exist a 'Neautra River' that runs trought all realms , and has it source at the start of creation in The Archivist domain, but none have ever seen it.
