Let's be a band.

so, with the next single less than a week away, i wanted to put some thoughts down to share with all of you.

we're transitioning. the sound of the new songs is so motivating. different from our last recordings (though still very us) - and that's a huge element in being an artist. if we didn't grow and have more things to say to you, how interesting could it be to listen to our music?

notice the use of "we", "our", and "us". a very clear element in the new songs is that we sound like... a BAND. not corrin. not me. but us. and it just doesn't make sense anymore to make it about just one person. i never really liked the idea of being the only one in front anyway.

this single, "not for sale" will be the debut of "corrin campbell & the election" as a recording group. though we've performed live under that name for years, it didn't carry over to the albums. but now it will, and i'm hoping that someday soon we'll be just "The Election".

so if you didn't know already, the quiet mastermind behind The Election is tony corbett. he plays all the drums and most of the guitars on the recordings, and co-produces all these songs with me. oh, and (no big) also mixes and masters everything. talk about DIY. :) and if it weren't for him, we wouldn't have the music. in the coming years, we'll probably look for more permanent members, but for now it's a duo. you can follow tony at @TonyCorbett on twitter if you're a tweeter.
