What is your OC's weapon of choice? Have they ever actually used it?
Sharyssa's main 'weapon' is her magic, and she used it plenty of times. In case this is about an actual physical weapon -in which case her magci in itself doesn't count-, she has a staff and some actual training with it, but her physical combat skills are rusty. plus, ever sicne she got her prosthetic arm, she doesn't even need the staff to aid for her casting as the arm took over that purpose as well.

"I've heard rumors about you doing a lot of deliveries again in person. I thought the whole idea was to delegate most of the work... Is there something wrong?" Sharyssa asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Ahh, my assistant's on vacation in Stormwind," Safrona informed with a pert little smile as she handed over the precious import to the Nightborne as requested. "Ethereals are infamously tethered to business, but I can't rightly pull Saraj from his own post to fill in for my sister. So that leaves me needing to save the day, so to speak." A chuckle now. "I consider it an inevitability. Your Courier can't let herself get too estranged from the root of business, no?"
If there was something 'wrong', Safrona had cleaved to the professional mask too expertly to let the personal bleed its way through to the Nightborne.

A bunch of heavy books landed on Nenniah's right foot with a loud thud. "I'm so sorry!" Sharyssa called out frantically, kneeling quickly to get the tomes off and stack them up to the side,a slow process when one has onyl on arm.
If she were to look back on this, one day, she might have determined how to approach the situation with a more rational mind. The trouble was always how one thinks in the moment, of course. Nenniah had little practice with decorum and grace, so it came as no surprise that she'd make a fool of herself.
Pain, white hot, erupted from her toes and shot up her foot as a number of tomes, some astonishingly heavy, landed directly on top of them. There was just no graceful way to express how much it hurt.
"Aaie!" Nenniah cried, hopping back. Immediately, she grabbed her right foot as she yanked it out from beneath the pile of books, hopping side to side on her totally fine left foot as she tried to regain her lost balance.
At last, Nenniah gave up entirely on that notion, and sat down hard on the nearby curb. She began sliding off her boot and sock, carefully, carefully, all the while hissing and groaning about her predicament. With the flashes of pain, came flashes of anger as she cursed herself and everyone around her. Why were mortal bones so laughably fragile? Why did they only have two legs to rely on???
She hadn't even registered Sharyssa's presence yet, as her toes were still throbbing pretty badly. It was no surprise as to why: when she finally got her shoe and sock off, a couple of them looked entirely broken. Nenniah hissed, squeezing the injured foot as she looked up and around, and began to notice her surroundings. Embarrassment crept up into her cheeks as she remembered the strange sound she made when the books fell on her foot.
Nenniah looked to the Nightborne attempting to gather her things together. While her own pain hazed in the background, she suddenly realized that the woman had only one arm; again, mortal folly. No wonder she had dropped the books.
"Ow, tsss..., with how much magic is thrown around these days, one would hope there was a better way to carry heavy books! Ow..."

Nights of Cider and Light
It was past sundown in Dalaran, decorated with seasonal lights and street vendors opened at almost every corner available. A time of celebration, as the days grew short and the light was venerated moreso than usual. Everyone needed light, but the need was felt all the more with the absence of it.
That was exactly why the main square was a hustle and bustle of energy and excitement, warm smells of spice and the hot steam of cups wafting into the air like rudimentary fog foretelling the weather. For her part? Viragosa loved it. Participated in it, appreciated it - those little celebrations mortals held to heal and bring themselves together.
"Here you go," the woman serving hot, spiced cider from the stall Viragosa stood in front of stated as she put two mugs down in front of the librarian. "And not a moment too soon! The lines out the door, you'd better scoot along."
Viragosa stared briefly at the two mugs - she had only paid for one, and before she could argue the woman tch'd strongly to scoot her along. Gripping both handles she found her way off before another little scolding, and moved out of the way so she could stare bewildered at the mugs, before scanning her eyes over the crowd.
It wasn't hard to spot someone who looked a little different than most people, someone who looked a little - well, admittedly unusual but no less fascinating or beautiful. Someone who did not, in fact, have a mug of hot beverage in their hand! She couldn't drink this all by herself, after all, that was just silly. Clearly Viragosa needed help, and she hoped she picked the right person to help her.
Approaching the nightborne with the ruby eye, Viragosa announced herself first. "Excuse me! I'm sorry to bother, but the cider vendor gave me too much cider, and I was hoping perhaps I could foist a mug off to someone who has none at all?" She held out one of the mugs when she got a little closer, but keeping a respectable distance. "It's far too much for one person, otherwise."

DWC Day 1 - Forgiveness
It was the end of another long day, and Sharyssa let out a relieved sigh as she unceremoniously flopped down on her bed. At least this one was far more comfortable than her bedroll back in the main camp of the Dragonscale Expedition.
"What a week..." Shar mused out loud, stretching her arms. Doing that still felt odd sometimes, watching her prosthetic mirror the movement while physically feeling nothing.
The arcanist yawned. A good sleep was what she needed, unbothered by her state of dress. Her boots were off, the bed would stay mud-free, and that was enough.
A flash of violet light from her coat pocket pulled her back from the edge of sleep. She sat up with a groan.
"Damn it, 'Rea... did you really have to send a letter right now? Your sleep schedule is messed up as always..." Sharyssa grumbled, rubbing her eye as she pulled out the envelope. It was bound to its pair by enchantment - the other piece owned by her little sister, obviously - and any letter put into one would end up in the other.
She stifled another yawn as she unfolded the paper, eyes going wide at the easily recognizable scrawl... of her mother.
"The audacity...!" the arcanist snarled, the ruby in place of her right eye flaring up along with the gems of her prosthetic arm from the sudden influx of arcane energy.
She tossed the letter to the ground to avoid incinerating it accidentally in her anger.
Shar swore she would never forgive the woman. Well, she did plan to reestablish something casual eventually so they wouldn't be strangers - mainly for Alyth'Rea's sake -, but that was to happen at her own pace, not the other way round.
"How odd... How in the fel did she convince 'Rea to let her use the envelope? She shouldn't even be aware its existence."
The train of thought led her in a direction she didn't want to contemplate, brows furrowed as she nudged the letter with a toe.
"So... 'Rea likely offered to send the letter herself. Damn it Kim'dal*, you know well the extent of my grudge with that insufferable woman. What is so important that you would offer to help her out like this...?"
The arcanist sighed and picked up the letter again. She will read it, for 'Rea.

Breaking Boundaries
Continued from here.
"No, I'm no layman. I earned my Arcanist title with knowledge and skill. The first I still have, the second... well, working on it." The nightborne shrugged.
"I didn't mean to show off, just truly didn't expect I'd find that many useful books. Creating a magehand in itself is easy, but casting spells that require proper control and concentration through it is more of a hassle than I thought... but it will have to do for now."
"And I worry because while it was an accident, the fault is still mine... and your healing will take a while if you're unwilling to see a healer. Don't even try to convince me, Nenniah. You can't even put pressure on that foot, can you?" Sharyssa crossed her arm over her chest. The gesture just made her own predictament even more obvious. "I might have something to help with that..."
The mention of getting her new arm was enough to derail Shar from the high elf's injury. She sighed.
"I... as much as I appreciate your praise, arcane crafting and constructs are not exactly my field of expertise. I do have a schematic for a prosthetic arm prototype, but I decided to check every well of knowledge first to get the best possible result. Things like that are quite pricey and take a while to build." "These books are either about constructs, or the use of gems as mana sources or catalysts." Shar indicated at the bunch of tomes that led to their meeting. "If I'd known there would be that many I didn't find elsewhere before, I'd have brought my enchanted backpack, and woudl have avoided spilling them over your foot and breaking it."

DWC Day 1 - Love Is In The Air/Weakness
Tumblr media
Sharyssa quickly sidestepped a pair of children running around, the little girl at the front holding a box of chocolates to her chest and laughing as she ran. The arcanist just smiled and shook her head.
"Come to think of it, it's that time of the year again..." She muttered after a glance at the decorations lining the streets.
Shar usually didn't celebrate Love is in the Air, for multiple reasons. For one, she was far from confident in her appearance ever sicne she lost her eye. Back when she was still the heir of House Soursea, her looks didn't really matter compared to the prestige and status she'd bring to any political marriage.
Even if she was free of those shackles for years now, the nightborne knew her physical appeal only became worse with the loss of her arm, the scars left behind by the accident and the gleaming prosthetic arm - the construct was currently resting in her home for maintenance. Shar wrapped her one arm around her waist, the empty sleeve of her coat billowing in the wind.
No matter how many times she told herself that she had no time for romance, that her research and her thurst for arcane knowledge were her priorities, the arcanist couldn't help feeling concerned about her appearance if she wanted to eventually find a partner.
"That won't be anytime soon, I should stop worrying about it." Sharyssa shook her head to get rid of those thoughts. She was back in Dalaran to take a break, celebration or no.
"Oh, is that... moonberry cheesecake?" Her ears perked up as she spotted the dessert on display. Hmm, maybe the whole Love is in the Air thing wasn't all that bad.

DWC Day 2 - Orbit/Illusion
Tumblr media
Sharyssa exhaled slowly as she carried her backpack towards the Nighthold. It looked simple, but like any nightborne mage worth her salt, she enchanted it to expand the capacity considerably and also for it's weight to remain constant no matter how many things she put into it. Currently it held the pieces of stormsilver that were going to be used for the frame of her new prosthetic arm.
"How in the fel did Alyth'Rea find this magesmith?" The young arcanist muttered with a frown. He was apparently one of the apprentices under the late Star Augur Etraeus, but joined the First Arcanist's rebellion unlike his master. Shar pondered if she'd seen him before during her forced rest in Shal'Aran, but even if she did, it was unlikely she'd recall his face given the sheer number of refugees back then.
The other thing that gave the nightborne pause was astromancy itself. She was gifted when it came to the arcane, but the field of divinations and fortune-tellings based on the stars, planets and their paths of orbit was too obscure to hold her interest. That, and Sharyssa didn't trust or take such predictions at face value either.
"I'll never understand why the pieces have to crafted during specific nights. Give me a task of analyzing wards, detect or dispel illusions, or just to set up a ward formation of my own for a specific purpose instead, I can do any of those with ease. Haaaah, there's never end to the mysteries of magic, is there?" Shar mused out loud, her nose twitching. She actually understood the base principle of using the energies unleashed by the phenomenons caused by the alignment of certain stars, but the details like why a specific combination was decided to be the most appropriate for one purpose instead of so many other options escaped her.
"I guess that's why he's the astromancer and magesmith, not me." The arcanist finished her monologue with a small chuckle as she approached the gates of the Nighthold, her hand already in her pocket to grab the rolled up parchment in there.
After showing the official invitation to the guards that yes, she was indeed permitted entry and had business to do, a brief inspection was all it took to let her in. She was escorted by another guard towards one of the buildings in the area to the northeast, it could only be Astromancer's Rise.
Sharyssa nodded her thanks when they reached the stairs and she was left alone. She adjusted her backpack and took in the staircase leading up to her destination. With one final sigh, the young woman slowly made her way upstairs.

Breaking Boundaries
Continued from here.
Sharyssa nodded at Nenniah's thanks, her smiel quickly turning into a chuckle as the high elf added the exception of the accident with the books. "As much as I wish it didn't happen so it wouldn't inconvenience you, I'm still glad we met thanks to it."
"Not sure if it helps, but I seriously doubt you're at any real disadvantage here. Currently both of us are down an eye and a limb, but I'd say you have an easier tiem using magic with two hands." The nightborne pointed out with a one-armed shrug, her tone light and the smile still on her face.
Shar frowned a little as Nenniah described experimenting with putting weight on her healing foot. "I have no idea what sort of healer the person you went to is, but if they didn't say to keep off of it for a while, I'd be surprised. As for checking it, personally I'd suggest not to walk on it at all for another week then, but I'm no healer."
She was about to to offer helping in putting the patch on after watching the high elf struggle to find a good spot over her swollen shut eye for minutes, when it finally fit in place properly. "The smaller pearls dangling from it can amplify the main pearl's effect. feel free to try it."
The details of the artifact made Sharyssa shudder for a moment, it sounded like an evil thing. "That such a thing resurfaced is disturbing. I know I've offered to 'pay you back', but I have one question first, and my support will depend on your answer." Her voice was harder, determined.
"Do you want to find this stone to destroy it?"

❤️ … for a song i associate with my character and why. (For Sharyssa)
youtube
Within Temptation - Paradise (What About Us?) ft. Tarja
As for why, it fits Sharyssa in multiple ways. Talking about 'expecting the wise to be wiser' line alone, on one hand shows how there is always more to learn and seeking knowledge can be dangerous. This is especially true for magic, and Sharyssa is eager to learn more, but is aware of the lines she mustn't cross. On the other hand, this fits her family as well. Her mother, the current head of her (former) house was at odds with Sharyssa and her views. Yet time proved Shar to be in the right all along, quite a bitter pill for her mother to swallow... plus Shar decided to leave in the end and she is no longer the heir either. You could say she has learned from past mistakes.

"S-Safrona? What are you doing here?" Sharyssa opened her door with a wide eye. She didn't expect visitors. "If I'd known you'd come I'd have cleaned up a little..." The nightborne added sheepishly, the empty left sleeve or her comfort hoodie dangling uselessly at her side.
Safrona stood politely at the door, only intent on stepping forward to enter should she be officially invited inside the residence. Her own eyes fall in a quick study of the sorceress that had gone unseen for the past few years, but her expression remains composed, enigmatic as ever. One could not have said for sure if she recognized what the Nightborne would have considered a handicap.
"It has been a time, hasn't it?" she offers with an unassuming smile. "I don't think many expect me these days if I'm to be honest, but I did always have a way for acquisition. Or, in this case, finding people. Your relatives have been, well, curious on your whereabouts, shall we say? Namely a certain nosy druid. But they did not feel it fit to intrude."
A chuckle beneath her breath now. "So they sent me, of course."
