Sheffield United have joined Norwich City by securing promotion to the Premier League for the first time since 2007 on Sunday, after Leeds United failed to beat Aston Villa at Elland Road drawing 1-1 in dramatic fashion. Promotion was all but secured with just one game left of the Championship season remaining as even if Leeds won, they would need the Blades to lose their final match and win their own with a huge goal swing in their favour. 'Huge respect', 'if we had any bottle': Leeds fans react to huge Championship result
Whilst not mathematical, Sheffield United have essentially secured their well-deserved promotion to the Premier League this evening. The Blades defeated Ipswich Town 2-0 and with their excellent goal difference, it appears they will be heading to the top-flight automatically with Norwich City also achieving that feat.
It is no doubt very painful for Leeds United fans.
The Whites have been in the running for the automatic places throughout the season but now appear to have come up short to their Yorkshire rivals.

Leeds now go into their game with Aston Villa tomorrow, which many hoped would be a day for celebration, as a potential dress rehearsal for the play-offs.
Leeds fans, on the whole, have actually reacted quite positively to the Blades’ success.
Many fans on Twitter were magnanimous in their defeat at the hands of Chris Wilder’s excellent Sheffield United team…
Credit where its due…Chris Wilder has done a class job on a budget, proper footballing side. Now its time to dust ourselves down and make sure we join them in the premier league! #sufc #lufc

Leeds have fought valiantly throughout the season but have been found wanting of the top two at the last hurdle. Fans must now get behind their players ahead of a tough fight in the play-offs. They can start by cheering their team to an impressive result against 10-game winning streak Aston Villa.

Sheffield United 2-0 Ipswich: Blades all but secure promotion to Premier League
Sheffield United is again effective in the Premier League for the first time since 2007 – and the mathematical confirmation could already start during lunch on
More than 30,000 saw Scott Hogan, on loan from Aston Villa, and Jack O'Connell score the goals left by Bramall Lane and were ready to greet Manchester United and Liverpool next season
]
The Blades convincing win against degradation of Ipswich means that Chris Wilder & # 39; s side is now six points away from third place Leeds United, who still have two games to go, the first against Aston Villa at noon

Equally important, the goal balance of The Blades 13 is better than their rivals in Yorkshire. In other words, nothing will stop their promotion now.
There was a great buzz around Bramall Lane for the kick-off.
The magazines have since tried 10 different managers, who have since tried 10 different managers. to bring them back to the promised land, including Bryan Robson, the late Gary Speed and Nigel Clough.
The job he did is remarkable, especially since the club lost its back in August after losing their first few games and internal disputes took place between

Club legend Sharp was introduced to a standing ovation after 63 minutes to see if he could add his 24 goals this season.
Eight minutes later, there was lame when John Fleck & # 39; s corner became smashed by O & # 39; Connell above the Ipswich defense. Wilder is on the rise and ready to take the Blades to the next level
Chris Wilder is unique in managing teams for promotions of ninth, fifth, fourth, third and second level.
& # 39; I missed a few but I don't feel like going back, & # 39; he says. & # 39; Maybe later when I'm done. Go around the circle. & # 39;
Wilder is not nearly finished yet. At the age of 51, he simply drives on to Sheffield United to the Premier League ending the club's 12-year-old exile.

The Blades secured automatic promotion to the Premier League alongside Norwich City
He did it while he knew a profit on the transfer market, navigating through a broken boardroom and implementing a hugely attractive, energetic style. He is an excellent contender for the manager of the year. & # 39; There is a lot of goodwill from the soccer world & # 39 ;, he reflects.
Wilder's legacy is the sum total. He was born in Sheffield, would stand on the Bramall Lane terraces as a boy and played for the club under Dave Bassett.
His earthiness also appeals. He often catches the bus to the city and that will not change now that his status has been increased. & # 39; Maybe I should put on a cap, wear a wig and pull a piece & # 39 ;, he says. & # 39; But I love the bus, why wouldn't I? My house is right outside the door and it takes me directly to my favorite pub. & # 39;
He adds later: & # 39; Don't forget your carrots, they have struck me from an early age. And I do not. Jenny from the block and everything. & # 39; I have breaks. & # 39; Chrissy from the block! & # 39;
From a little to whole, Wilder remembers his origins. And where is it now? I started with my partner who ran to Sunday League Club, Bradway FC. Team selections were decided in the night club prior to the kick-off. . co.uk/1s/2019/05/04/23/13096648-0-image-a-18_1557008942791.jpg "height =" 422 "width =" 634 "alt =" Chris Wilder was born in Sheffield, as a boy on the Bramall Lane terraces are "<img id =" i-bcb7a391b3ba51f6 "src =" https://dailym.ai/2J0KiDS -18_1557008942791.jpg "height =" 422 "width =" 634 "alt =" <img id = "i-bcb7a391b3ba51f6" src = "https://dailym.ai/2Y6SkP6 23 / 13096648-0-image-a-18_1557008942791.jpg "height =" 422 "width =" 634 "alt =" <img id = "i-bcb7a391b3ba51f6" src = "https://dailym.ai/2uS4u1n /1s/2019/05/04/23/13096648-0-image-a-18_1557008942791.jpg "height =" 422 "width =" 634 "alt =" Chris Wilder was born in Sheffield, would stand in the gallery Bramall Lane terraces like a boy
& # 39; Al s players were there with us that they started, they got more honor than the boys who got up early & # 39 ;, he says, just a joke.
From there, he joined Alfreton in October 2001, and in the 27-week period he had won four-fold trophies, including the Northern Counties League Premier League and the Derbyshire Senior Cup.
I moved to Halifax and learned to stand up for six years due to hardships. & # 39; In a sense, it was good because it was a blank canvas & # 39 ;, he says. & # 39; But it was difficult: coaches who didn't show up, wage deferment. Things I have experienced since the first days I use it now. It doesn't really change. It's about the human dimension, it's about people. & # 39;
He won promotion of the conference in Oxford and then in Northampton planned a path amid financial uncertainty, including staff not paid for three months, to claim the League Two title in 2016.
& # 39; I said to the players: & # 39; You can use this as an excuse to hold up the white flag or you can use it to take advantage, to have a siege mentality and to come out with a lot of praise. would do it. And because I had drawn all those players who were good characters, I already knew the answer. & # 39;
That summer, Sheffield United, led by President Kevin McCabe, gave Wilder his chance. It has turned out to be an inspired choice. In his first season back to the club, they became League One champions, where they had been languishing for six years.
This season has exceeded all expectations, all on a tight budget. everything with a tight budget "
This season exceeded all expectations, while it all worked with a tight budget
This season has been even better and exceeded all expectations. With a tight budget, given the ownership dispute between McCabe and Prince Abdullah, Wilder signed relatively ordinary players and lifted them to extraordinary standards, his team playing a progressive 3-5-2 system, where running is essential and the middle backs are told to move forward The left of the three, Jack O & Connell, provided the cross to set up Scott Hogan & # 39; s opener against Ipswich last weekend, while on the right side no center half created more opportunities for this campaign than the 29. of Chris Basham.
Movement on the side is kaleidoscopic, similar to the all-action teams from Chile and Seville that were broadcast by Jorge Sampaoli. condition, we don't want to be marked & # 39 ;, says Wilder. & # 39; Strange and beautiful positions. But there is a structure behind it. You cannot get the results we have without organization. It's about being positive and driving back their best players. A risk and return approach. & # 39;
Wilder does this however with players who were not really on the wishlists of other clubs. In midfield, 33-year-old Mark Duffy played 35 championship games and David McGoldrick, signed on a free Ipswich card, scored 15 league goals. At the age of 31 I was 85 years earlier in his career.
& # 39; We play with old school values in a modern way & # 39 ;, says Wilder. & # 39; There are non-negotiables, you have to run and you have to compete. But we have some good players – that goes under the radar. & # 39; He is central to recruitment. & # 39; I make quick decisions, I don't have to see them ten times, & # 39; he says.
I know about them through networking. I know Chris Waddle well and sometimes I take a beer with me on a Sunday. He knows the result of North-East Counties South Division or whatever, Matlock versus Belper, because that's just him. And I have always had great interest in the game at every level. It has not been a culture with a checkbook. & # 39;
Billy Sharp, 33, is as sharp as ever and achieves 23 championship goals. Wilder inherited Sharp and entered into a bond with a fellow Blade. & # 39; Wilder says: & # 39; I have the reputation of being a bit of a loner, getting a stroke of 2-1, but he scores and is happy. & # 39; Far from. He was embarrassed about the position his team was in and wanted to do something about it. He certainly did. It is an appropriate reward that he leads his club in the Premier League. & # 39;
<img id = "i-8b957f853a3c1ff" src = "https://dailym.ai/2IYFTkH image-a-20_1557008950769.jpg "height =" 423 "width =" 634 "alt =" <img id = "i-8b957f853a3c1ff" src = "https://dailym.ai/2J2OwKp /04/23/13096652-0-image-a-20_1557008950769.jpg "height =" 423 "width =" 634 "alt =" <img id = "i-8b957f853a3c1ff" src = "https: //i.dailymail. co.uk/1s/2019/05/04/23/13096652-0-image-a-20_1557008950769.jpg "height =" 423 "width =" 634 "alt =" <img id = "i-8b957f853a3c1ff" src = "https://dailym.ai/2Jf8S33" height = "423" width = "634" alt = "
I considered running away last summer because an internal fight caused a stir at the club. "19459011] [194590] [] I considered running away last summer because an internal fight caused confusion at the club.
Their shared joy was evident in an interview with Sky Sports where Wilder, arm draped around Sharp, the presenter soaked by squirting a bottle of Moretti, then he named Patrick Bamford and Adam Forshaw & muppets & # 39; because he suggested that his team would feel the pressure in the straight house. was an average of 2.2 points since Christmas.
& # 39; Maybe I shouldn't have had a little twink with Forshaw and Bamford, but part of me is fighting instinctively, & he says. & # 39; 39; We answered it in the best possible way, we won games when the heat is on, when other teams fall apart, and I'm very proud of that. & # 39;
He adds : & # 39; You have to enjoy it There is a lot of pain in football in difficult ti jden. & # 39; Wilder says he won't let his feelings spin. & # 39; I can't do that with these supporters, especially if my standby are family and friends. I have to be honest. I am not manufactured as I manage. It is not from a textbook. & # 39;
That honesty was clear last summer when I was considering running away the battle between McCabe and Prince, Abdullah threatened to paralyze the club. Eventually, progress was made, David Brooks sold to Bournemouth for £ 11.5million, and John Egan and Oliver Norwood bought for a combined £ 5m.
Hopefully a solution for the unrest in the boardroom will be found after a High Court hearing on Tuesday and Wilder has a clear picture. Wilder says he hopes that there will be a decent period for them after 12 years of & # 39; heartache & # 39; "
Wilder says he hopes there will be a decent period for them after 12 years of & # 39; heartache & # 39;"
Wilder says he hopes there will be a decent period for them after 12 years of & # 39; heartache & # 39;
& # 39; I always said that the owners of the football club are & # 39 ;, he says. & # 39; They must follow it in the right direction, I am sure they will. & # 39; Yet there have been admiring glances from rival presidents. & # 39; I work at a great club that is close to my heart, but like everything else you don't know what's around & # 39 ;, says Wilder.
& # 39; Hopefully this is the start of a decent period for the club because we have had heartache for the past 12 years. & # 39;
Keeping up would again be a huge achievement. & # 39; We will try to improve the same strategy and identity. We have five or six boys who played in League One. It is important that they get the chance and we do not take a debilitating ball into our team spirit and mentality.
& # 39; We have to play smart next year, but it would be very foolish for us to change. & # 39; The circumstances have changed drastically for Wilder, but not the man.
