Oh, right, a costume drama. We gotta give us the background info right away. Let me get these details down: The last emperor wasn’t very good at management, the courtiers appointed Crown Prince Zongzheng Yunlian to the throne because he was healthy and seemingly good at the job, but the second song Zongzheng Yuzhan was a jealous hater and insurrectionist. Yunlian got rid of Yunzhan’s title and wealth, and then exiled that mofo. The realm then enters an era of internal prosperity and stability after ousting foreign factions.

Damn, we’re opening with (attempted) child murder and a time skip. Expected.

Is our protagonist a propagandist and a playboy? How fun.

Seems our other lead is involved in some form of espionage in opposition to the ruling party of the opening narration.

I love the guards having a totally reasonable reaction to seeing someone getting jumped in the woods at night: Whoever she is, she’s probably involved in some bullshit that’s going to cause problems for us.

It wouldn’t be a costume drama if a doctor wasn’t being constantly threatened with death.

I love that Zheng Huaien isn’t even working that hard on this seduction. Jin is just that into it.

After a long time, I’ve decided to share a few thoughts from my heart.

I’m not very good at expressing myself, so I decided to write a letter to open up to everyone. Honestly, being part of Blossom has been a story of redemption for me.

In 2022, I was still working for an internet company as an advertising planner. By chance, I became an actor. After that, I started filming some small web dramas, but to my surprise, the first drama I appeared in sparked a lot of controversy.

Because of the negative reception, I was met with a period of six months where I had no roles to play. As my confidence and the light in my heart faded with each passing day, I encountered Blossom.

Initially, I auditioned for the role of Su Yin, but after meeting me, the producer asked me to try out for Huaien instead and gave me positive feedback on my audition! More importantly, I was deeply drawn to Huaien—a man yearning for freedom and love but also tightly shackled and restrained. My instincts told me: I have to seize this chance!

To immerse myself in Huaien’s isolated and helpless inner world, I locked myself in a room, trying to experience his profound loneliness and despair, like a boat adrift with no anchor.

Although filming was incredibly challenging, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Bringing Huaien to life from the script, turning him into a real, living, breathing, flesh-and-blood person, gave me a deep sense of purpose.

Everyone has many sides to themselves. I have my own side that’s insecure and sensitive. Before the show aired, I was anxious. But I want to thank all of you who came to my side, giving me encouragement, support, and love. As the song Unafraid of the Long Night goes, I caught a fleeting glimpse of starlight through the cracks, and just like Huaien, I will try to hold onto that light tightly.

My journey with Zongzheng Huaien may have come to an end, but the spiritual nourishment he has given me will last for a lifetime.

If possible, let’s continue forward together. Together through day and night, as constant and enduring as the ever-present moon.

sPs: In any other show, Li Chengze would probably be the smartest character in the whole thing. Unfortunately, that is not the case in Joy of Life, which is full of smart characters. In Joy of Life, that crown sits firmly on Chen Ping Ping's head. But Li Chengze is a close second, I'd say.

ETA: I realized that "Wasted join me speech" applies to Seon Ho too. Edit2: As @vyther15 pointed out, Li Chengze has a failed "join-me" speech too. Not just that letter, he does keep telling Fan Xian to join him, and Fan Xian keeps slithering out of the situations. So yes, Li Chengze has a "Wasted join me speech". I realized that even Ling Yao has one. When Bido meets him in the tunnels. If that was not a "wasted join me speech"... So yeah, updated. And with that update, that box becomes the only one in which all 5 characters meet. LOL.
