I’m back from my trip, the @hollowknightzine packages have been out, and so I can post my NKG illustration, at last!

It’s been a pleasant experience into contributing with wonderful folks while participating in a zine the first time :D

STATUS UPDATE 5!

We are happy to announce that the zines have arrived and we are just beginning to package them! We are hoping to have all the packaging done and ready to ship out by Monday of next week (We will see how far along we will get but that is our goal--updates to happen more frequently) We are almost there and can not wait for everyone to receive their zine/merch!!

Keep an eye out for:

-all packages have been completed

-  shipping labels created and are ready for shipping

-all have been sent! (we will send out an email-- Domestic shipping into the US is 1-3 days once sent and international is 1-3+ weeks)

Q & A

“I haven't drawn a lot of Hollow Knight art because most of my art is focused on original characters and art for classes at the moment (I'm a game design student), but should I start preparing some Hollow Knight specific art work? Would you like the portfolio to be Hollow Knight specific or some Hollow Knight and some others with interesting techniques I could utilize in a future piece?”

Hello! Thank you so much for this question in our Interest form! This is a great question that i think a lot of artists that are thinking about applying can benefit from. You will NOT be expected to include any Hollow Knight specific artwork in the application. We will solely (pun?) be looking for pieces that showcase the best of your abilities as an artist. This will be further discussed in the near future but we are looking for completed pieces with an understanding of composition and artistic style.

Q & A

I would hope you make this zine a for profit zine! While a free artist copy is nice, most zines do that nowadays anyways - there is a lot of charity zines out there already with many artists donating their time and effort to them and many other zines before them. I hope you consider a for-profit zine!

Thank you for your response on our Interest Check! We will definitely consider the option of making this a for-profit on our *Application Form (TBA). Our concern with this is how much the production may cost (the physical zine itself, merchandise, shipping costs, providing the artists a free copy, etc.) that there wont be enough to split amongst the artists. This will all depend on how many sales we are able to make (excluding artists if we were to give them a free copy). There’s a lot on the line when considering this option and a lot more work that goes behind the scenes than people realize. We would absolutely love for the artists to receive a free copy AND make a profit off of this, but I would like the artists to understand the risks.
