I'm thinking of getting a m942 Beretta for an edc. What others would you recommend for a good edc under $600?

Anon do you mean the M9 or the Taurus 942? I'm going to assume you mean the M9 or 92 FS. EDC is a personal choice, but because you asked so I'll address it based on my needs and expiations in an attack. I have 3 EDC's that I rotate based on need and carry options, with a 1911 on the side that I used to carry until I had to use it in a live fire situation and realized every trigger pull was 14% of my magazine capacity, so it got benched. I have large hands and you know what they day about guys with large hands...You guessed it, compacts and sub-compacts are harder for us to use accurately shoot because of how far back we have to draw the trigger. In my case, I tended to force the barrel to the left as I draw my finger back. BUT, and there is always a but, compacts and sub-compacts have their place thus one of my possible EDC's is a Glock 26 Gen 4. Good shooter, and with a little trigger work I push it to the left way less. My other two are a Glock 19 Gen 5 and a Springfield XD9. They are both full framed because as I pointed out I have big dick beaters. Both shoot great, the Glock is lighter and has better magazine options. The Ameri-Glo sights on the Glock are really nice and give you fast sight alignment and target acquisition in low light situations. That is a big plus. The XD9 has been my work horse since I bought it in 2008. It is Heavier, limited in modifications, but it has never failed to function. I have had factory ammo that failed to fire through it because of the stiffer spring. (Side Note: Never buy the Federal Aluminum cased 9mm, it sucks.) If modification out of the box is something you want you can look at the XDM's. All of my ECD's are 9mm, partly because I reload most my ammo and mostly because keeping my over all caliber pool small is important to me. I hope my rambling helps.

I usually carry Remington Golden Sabers or Hornady Critical Defense rounds. A side note: this is why you don’t carry reloads as your self-defense ammo. They usually always go off on the second pull. I’ve used this feature a lot, mostly on some of my reloads where I may not get the primer fully seated.

Double-Strike CapacityĮven though it’s a single-action pistol, it uses an extra double- strike sear so that if the primer doesn’t go off the first time, you can have another crack at it before having to go to “tap-rack-bang”. I like this system better than the “peek- holes” that some guns utilize. I can run my finger over the barrel hood to see if the chamber is loaded, something I have done on more than one occasion, without having to look down at the gun. There’s one on my Springfield XDM, a chamber flag just like on the G2C. I might even get my soldering iron out and put my stippling job on top of the one Taurus did. The rough surface that buries itself in your hand while shooting. I truly love the new stippling treatment that the grip frame received.
