Is it selfish of me to know the taste of you — in soul and in flesh — but to wake and pray for forgiveness?

Am I selfish to feel my heart beat faster, wildly, whenever it senses danger?

To crave your skin, your voice, each night before I wake.

Am I selfish for remembering the smell of your sheets — or that your scent is still my favorite?

For lingering a little longer just to get a bite?

For dancing slower, just to feel your heartbeat against the strings of a haunted guitar and the howl of the night?

Am I selfish for wanting you to myself, in a way no one else knows?

For holding onto the taste of your tongue?

For running — when my soul already belongs to you?
