From Reality to Fiction: How CIA Documents Inspired Stranger Things
Stranger Things: A Blend of Sci-Fi and Real History
Since its debut, Stranger Things has captivated audiences worldwide with its eerie storytelling and supernatural mysteries. But what many fans don’t realize is that the show’s foundation is deeply rooted in reality. The secret experiments at Hawkins National Laboratory and Eleven’s powers draw heavily from declassified CIA programs like MKUltra and STAR GATE. These aren’t just wild theories—they’re backed by real documents, freely available in the CIA Reading Room for anyone to explore.

The Real Inspirations: MKUltra and STAR GATE
MKUltra: Mind Control by the CIA
From the 1950s to the 1970s, the CIA conducted MKUltra, a top-secret program exploring mind control techniques. Experiments ranged from LSD administration to sensory deprivation and hypnosis. In Stranger Things, the parallels are clear: Eleven and other children are subjected to intense experiments to develop and harness their mental powers, just as MKUltra sought to manipulate the human mind.
STAR GATE: Remote Viewing and Psychic Powers
From the 1970s through the 1990s, the STAR GATE program investigated the potential of Remote Viewing, where individuals attempted to perceive distant or hidden locations using only their minds. In Stranger Things, Eleven demonstrates this ability repeatedly, using sensory deprivation tanks to locate people and objects far away.
Techniques: The Real Meets the Fictional
1. Sensory Deprivation Tanks: A Portal to Other Worlds
In Stranger Things, Eleven uses sensory deprivation to amplify her abilities. This method directly mirrors real-world experiments where tanks were used to isolate subjects from external stimuli, fostering deep mental focus. The concept traces back to John C. Lilly’s isolation tank studies, which also influenced MKUltra.
2. Remote Viewing Protocols: Fact or Fiction?
In STAR GATE, participants were trained to describe distant locations by focusing their minds on specific coordinates. While results varied, some successes, like accurately identifying hidden military sites, were striking. Eleven’s mental explorations mimic these techniques, albeit dramatized for effect.
3. Numbered Test Subjects: A Nods to MKUltra
In the series, Eleven is designated as “011,” implying many other test subjects. Similarly, CIA experiments anonymized participants with code names or numbers, especially in MKUltra studies involving vulnerable populations like orphans or prisoners.

Stranger Things and CIA Documents: A Tangible Connection
What makes these connections fascinating is that the history behind Stranger Things isn’t pure fiction. The CIA Reading Room, an extensive online database of declassified documents, offers everyone the chance to read about programs like MKUltra and STAR GATE in detail.
How to Access the Documents:
• Visit the CIA Reading Room.
• Use search terms like “MKUltra,” “STAR GATE,” or “Remote Viewing.”
• Explore millions of pages that reveal the extraordinary lengths governments went to in their pursuit of power.
Conclusion: Stranger Things Is Closer to Reality Than You Think
The creators of Stranger Things skillfully blend real-world inspirations with supernatural storytelling. By borrowing from programs like MKUltra and STAR GATE, the series offers a chilling reminder of how far governments are willing to go in the name of science and security.
While Eleven’s adventures take us to alternate dimensions, the truth behind the experiments she endured can be found in history itself. The real question remains: how much of this is truly behind us?

The Stargate Project: A Real-Life Skynet in the Making?
Tumblr media
The U.S.-led Stargate Project aims to build a massive AI system capable of reaching AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), sparking comparisons to Skynet from The Terminator. With the potential to enhance defense, forecasting, and technological advancements, Stargate could revolutionize industries and global security. However, concerns loom over job displacement, security risks, and the possibility of an AI acting against humanity’s best interests. As AGI development accelerates, the balance between innovation and control has never been more critical.

CIA Releases 13 Million Pages of declassified “X-Files’
Tumblr media
Over 13 million pages of declassified documents from the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) have been released online.
The files include tons of topics that have long been of interest to conspiracy theorists, among which UFO sightings and research and psychic experiments from the Stargate Programme.
The unexpected move came after lengthy efforts from freedom of information advocates and a lawsuit against the CIA. The full archive is made up of almost 800,000 files, that had previously only been accessible at the National Archives in Maryland.
The trove includes the papers of Henry Kissinger, who served as secretary of state under presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford, as well as several hundred thousand pages of intelligence analysis and science research and development. (Source: BBC)
The X-Files.
Among the more unusual records are documents from the Stargate Project, which dealt with psychic powers and extrasensory perception. The Stargate Project was the code name for a secret U.S. Army unit established in 1978 at Fort Meade, Maryland, by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and SRI International to investigate the potential for psychic phenomena in military and domestic intelligence applications.
Those include records of testing on celebrity psychic Uri Geller in 1973, when he was already a well-established performer. Memos detail how Mr Geller was able to partly replicate pictures drawn in another room with varying - but sometimes precise - accuracy, leading the researchers to write that he "demonstrated his paranormal perceptual ability in a convincing and unambiguous manner".
Other unusual records include a collection of reports on flying saucers, and the recipes for invisible ink.
Tumblr media
It is worth to mention that much of the information has been technically publicly available since the mid 90s, but it has been very difficult to access. The records were only available on four physical computers located in the back of a library at the National Archives in Maryland, between 09:00 and 16:30 each day.
A non-profit freedom of information group, MuckRock, sued the CIA to force it to upload the collection, in a process which took more than two years.
In November, the CIA announced it would publish the material, and the entire declassified CREST archive is now available on the CIA Library website.
Enjoy your investigations, Agents :)

Refueling on Serotonin
Throughout history, the great minds, creative souls and magicians of our age who have contributed in some immeasurable way to human society has suffered from bouts of depression.
Everything we do needs fuel. If it is strength that we need, then we must feed the body with proteins to give us muscles, and it is no different if one needs that creative spark that drives us to artistic pursuits.
Over the many years I have been dabbling in creative pursuits, depression has always been by my side. It haunts me and cages my freedom to express myself.
After having met Colin, I also came to realize that he becomes a manic depressive each time he overuses his supernatural abilities. He would often eat loads of meat after an exercise and it wasn’t until recently I realize that what he needed was cholesterol, his psychic strength was based on a fuel called Serotonin. Colin was diagnosed as bipolar, and he really didn’t give a fuck what the doctors thought of him. He knew what he was capable of in the world of magick. His prefrence for meat has to do with tryptophan, an amino acid that converts to Serotonin.
Apparently Serotonin levels play an important part in our psychic abilities. And I would like to point out that living a spiritual life is a choice, and that will not make you any more psychic than the door knob of your front door. To be a psychic, you have to be born with the faculty to use them.
Science has determined that we only manufacture Serotonin in our brains and gut and to prevent a depletion of it, we take anti depressant medications such as a SSRI which limits the absorption of serotonin into our synapses.
Once the body is flooded with more Serotonin, well, the world will be your playground if you know how to use your sense.
Colin once told me how he was so broke while living in Sheffield, UK....and took whisky and brandy as a means to stay warm during winter. He would walk into a local pub and order one but as soon as he stepped out to go home, he would pass people on the street...and during that time he could see how every one would them would die. Some would die horribly in car crashes, others....probably a walk in a park. Alcohol apparently can boost your serotonin levels but only temporarily. I use to pick up on phantoms and spirits the moment I drink too much....and no, it’s not a nice feeling because you’re not sure what you are seeing as you are partially drunk.
This also explains why LSD seems to work like a charm and people often reach heights of ecstasy when given in low dosages. Upping the dosage, well, that can be dangerous.
All manner of drugs in some ways affect your serotonin levels and it also explains why some people become addicts. By taking such drugs, you reach your happy place, and when you disconnect from the reality that we know, you become lost.
Psychics who overuse their faculties will be prone to depression and once your serotonin levels drops, your powers are no longer usable or accurate. This often explains why so many psychics become frustrated when their powers no longer serve them any purpose. They turn to drinking and drugs in the hope of a cure. That, unfortunately is a one way street that will lead to despair. So if you are one of those phone in psychics who find that your predictions are no longer accurate, better top up on tryptophan from natural foods than to turn to drugs. Anti depression medication also helps but you have to deal with the side effects, which can be quite nasty to your health.
Being psychic can be both a blessing and a curse. A curse if you don’t wish to use it and a blessing once you do. I don’t see it as any more different than a person who has a license to drive a truck versus one that has a license for a motorcycle.
They each have their merits in making the journey through this world for better or for worst.
I am also aware that the Stargate project by the US military is still functioning and were recently known to have visited Shamans to find out if there was a way to remotely kill a subject without the help of a drone.
There are very few people who could kill remotely. I know Colin was one. And to use this gift carried a very heavy karmic burden, one that he paid for with his life.
