Inspiration Board at TEDxMonteCarlo with Annette Anderson

1. What inspired you to become a member of the TEDxMonteCarlo Advisory Board?

When I first attended TEDxIUM, I realized that here was another opportunity for Monaco to show the world what the Monte-Carlo community is all about: innovation and creativity, protecting the planet and the people who live on it.  I love the fact that TEDxMonteCarlo speakers and their “ideas worth spreading” will be seen all over the world on the Internet. Being on the Board gives me personally another chance to be a cheerleader for the “real Monaco” team.

2. What advice would you give to your younger self?

I doubt that my younger “too busy” self would have listened but I’ve certainly come to believe that “we’re here for a good time, not a long time.”  How we use our precious time is our legacy.....it will be how we are remembered. Did we fill our lives with tasks or did we fill our lives with happiness, ours and those whose lives we touch.

3. What do you do to live a balanced life/ If you could recommend one daily activity in order to improve our lives, what would that be?

If you are lucky enough, like me, to have people in your life who support you with unconditional love then balance comes easy. It’s all about staying in the present and not being bogged down in the past or daydreaming in the future, which helps you feel grateful for everything you have.

4. What‘s the most important leadership lesson you’ve learned and how is it valuable?

I think leadership is all about making sure that everybody with an oar in a lifeboat knows which direction they’re heading.  I’m lucky to work with Kate and Didier who founded STARS’N’BARS. Their vision for their business has always been very clear----and they have communicated it effectively to others---- which has made the rowing a whole lot easier even in the roughest seas.

Solidarity Backpack drive second edition

On Saturday, July 1 from 10:00 to 13:30 Stars’n’Bars will be receiving all used school bags still in good condition and clean, to be donated to the association Les Enfants de Frankie for them to distribute to the children they support beginning of September at the start of the school season. This is the second edition of “Donate Your Old School Bag” campaign, and your participation will contribute to its success!

This solidarity campaign created jointly by Click Monaco, the Association Les Enfants de Frankie and the Restaurant Stars’n’Bars, has a double important meaning, because not only those donations will bring smiles to so many underprivileged children, but it is also a recycling initiative thus reducing waste in our dear planet.

Didier Rubio, co-founder of Stars’n’Bars is impatient emphasizing that “When we see the charbon imprint needed to make a school bag, and that we get rid of it after only one year, and when we know that other children don’t have them, I found this idea fantastic, and I regret we did not do it years ago.”
