#StudyWithBinnsChallenge Day 12: What is your favorite guilty pleasure stationery or “school supply” purchase?
(#StudyWithBinnsChallenge by @cuthbertbinns)
I unfortunately can’t find it right now, but my favorite supply purchase was a mini stapler! It’s mint green and small and very cute, and it’s also come in handy SO many times!

#StudyWithBinnsChallenge Day 8: What’s your favorite water bottle/tea cup/or coffee mug?
(#StudyWithBinnsChallenge by @cuthbertbinns)

My best friend got me this for either Christmas or my birthday about a year and a half ago and I absolutely love it!!! It fits my identity and personality perfectly, and I love to use it whenever I drink tea or hot cocoa.

Day 4: Favorite outside space. we share a front yard with 5 other units, but my family probably spends the most time out there. here's a few pics of my kiddos enjoying it over the years 💞

#StudyWithBinnsChallenge Day 4: What is your favorite outside space?
(#StudyWithBinnsChallenge by @cuthbertbinns)
Forests, without a doubt! Living in the city, it’s hard to find quiet areas to just vibe in nature, but fortunately I live within walking distance of a small park/forest, and there’s a beautiful stream hidden just behind the trees. I love sitting on the logs there and journaling, it’s so peaceful!!
I’m also partial to my patio, haha, except during the summer, when all the mosquitos decide to simultaneously attack my ankles.

#StudyWithBinnsChallenge Day 3: What are your go-to study snacks?
(#StudyWithBinnsChallenge by @cuthbertbinns)
Chips! I typically grab myself a bowl of Tostitos or Late July tortilla chips when I know I’m going to be working for more than half-an-hour. I also make sure to grab a glass of water, or a glass of milk if I’m feeling it. I swear I’m healthy sometimes! I’ll eat apple slices or carrot sticks if I have any in the house.

#StudyWithBinnsChallenge Day 16 & 17: What’s oh your to-do list today? What’s your background noise?
(#StudyWithBinnsChallenge by @cuthbertbinns)
Eep, I missed yesterday! Doing two today to make up!
My to-do list today was to:
Work on and finish Music History/Literature Project (FINISHED!!)
Clean the work desk (started but not finished yet)
Read more of Frankenstein and work on annotations (...so we might have skipped that one...)
Watch at least 5 Unus Annus videos to work on catching up (I think I did this??? Might have watched only 3 oops)
And as for background noise, I either go for music or mynoise.net generators! Currently, my background noise is “Hard 2 Breathe” from Achievement Hunter: The Musical, though typically I’ll go for a noise generator. Usually, that means mynoise.net’s Gregorian Choir generator!

#StudyWithBinnsChallenge Day 13: What’s in your pen case or book bag?
(#StudyWithBinnsChallenge by @cuthbertbinns)
Ok it’s like eleven over here so I’ll make this short, haha.
I haven’t gotten to use an actual pen case or book bag this year because of online school, but last year I had mostly pens in my pencil case (it’s blue with “Behold! The tools of a genius!” on either side), since I like to write in black ink unless it’s math (mechanical pencils for that), and I had mostly unorganized papers in my book bag (I did have binders, I just didn’t really use them, lol).
I also have a bunch of kinda useless things, like stick-on erasers that are just fun to play with, or scraps of paper with little doodles on them!

#StudyWithBinnsChallenge Day 6: Show me something teal!
(#StudyWithBinnsChallenge by @cuthbertbinns) HIM:
Mr Minecraft Steve in Smash himself! His shirt is actually the only teal part of his design, but I suppose it counts, haha!
Oh boy could I talk for hours about the lore of Minecraft (yes, there’s lore, it was confirmed at MineCon Live 2020). I remember first hearing about it in like elementary school, but never really got into it until middle school. Now, though, it’s total Minecraft brainrot!!

05.October.2020 || #StudyWithBinnsChallenge
Day 5: Why do you study? Why indeed? I guess to answer this question I have to look a little deeper inside myself. I put off going to college for over ten years and I tried to make excuses for all this time as to why. But the truth of the matter was I was lazy and I was scared to get out of my comfort zone. There were barriers and obstacles i faced along the way that made going to school difficult for me, but now that i’m here and doing this, i see i could have overcome them at any time. Yes i fought off mental illness and less than ideal circumstances and lack of financial stability for years, but my education was always something i wanted to return to and i should have never let this many years go by before getting my life together and going back to school. All of this to say, I study for my kids, so that they know that they can do and overcome anything to achieve their dreams. I study for me, because I do have dreams, things that I want to see realized and i know i have to work hard to see them come to fruition.

#StudyWithBinnsChallenge Day 5: Why do you study?
(#StudyWithBinnsChallenge by @cuthbertbinns)
This is actually related to the topic of my Common App essay, so I have a lot to say about this, lol.
I first studied because I was told to. It was one of the behaviors taught to me in elementary school, and one of the behaviors I have tried the longest to unprogram in me. I no longer want to study because I’m told to, I want to study because I want to, because there is knowledge for me to learn and I want to learn it all.
As I begin to unprogram that behavior from me, I have begun to replace it with a desire to study to learn. There’s so many things about this world that I will never be able to understand. But studying allows me to analyze and find patterns and tell stories, and it helps me understand little bits of the world a little bit better.
It’s not a noble reason, yeah, but it’s one that motivates me to study (even if I tend to study more unconventional subjects)!

Day 2: What are your goals for the month? academic goals: - manage my time better - actually implement structure in my study habits. - improve my grade in math. - not miss any deadlines! personal goals: - cut down on fast food. - cut down on soda! (this one is hard for me) - set aside a few afternoons to spend some one on one time with each of my kids. -read at least 1 book for pleasure -do a fun autumn craft/activity at least once a week with the kids. - actually have a conversation with my spouse?
as you can see, life is so crazy busy rn. i wake up, i try to survive, i door dash more than half our meals, and i can’t even remember the last time my husband and i were in the same room alone/not having a conversation revolving around the kids, covid, school, or work. but, i know this is just a season, and things could definitely be worse.

#StudyWithBinnsChallenge Day 15: Shown me something autumnal.
Unfortunately I now have to call myself out and say that it’s not actually very autumnal where I live, oops. The trees have just the barest tint of yellow, and it’s actually still pretty warm out. I will compensate with a gif!
#study with binns challenge#studyblr#studywithbinnschallenge#study challenge#october challenge#i know i feel like this is kind of a cop out but there's like nothing remotely autumnal yet around where i live
