David does not have a villain in the same way as the rest of the DMDC. Even Elegy, who largely has to worry about internal developments, has something of a personal antagonist in Sybine. But David’s most notable enemy, Tony, honestly seems almost tangential to his story at this point.

It might seem disappointing that the reason Lysander ruined David’s life was something as petty as a minor altercation, but it’s perfectly in keeping with David’s personal tragedies. The reveal of the source of his teifling heritage from the Maanzecorian shows that the result of David’s greatest pains across his life are always the result of casual cruelty.

An ancestor that didn’t care about trading his body to secure something (it doesn’t matter what it was). A partner that didn’t care about trading his life to secure their secrecy. An ally trading his freedom to secure his ego. Cheap rewards at great personal cost for David.

Even Tony is revealed to be another result of this attitude of casual cruelty that pervades the Ashmadai and all organizations born from them. David has been haunted by the Ashmadai from the very beginning. Because David doesn’t really have a villain. The problem he has is what he looks like and how people see him and how they can manipulate that image regardless of his efforts. And there is no way to slice that to death.
