Kissy searched around the dark room. The walls were decorated in blue and red..hm…he always liked blue and red. Kissy looked over at the dresser which had little figurines on them, the bed was of decent size and it was even made up too. He seemed to have a little lamp in the corner of his room. One that’s strangely in the shape of an M.. But…that’s not what she’s looking for. Kissy continued to search around before she FINALLY found a small Snugglebug in a drawer. Yeesh…scary…why’d they allow for him to make it look like THAT? Kissy picked up the small toy before walking out of the room and towards the school instead. She entered the building, making sure not to step on any little toys as she made her way to one specific classroom before walking inside. Immediately as she entered, everyone looked up at her. Kissy..? What’s she doing here? A girl in the corner of the room turned her head to one boy. Rusty…he looked fascinated. Hm…new kid.. she kept to herself as Miss Delight nodded before leaving the room. The teacher seemed tense��odd. Kissy turned to the kids and finally held it up. It was a Snugglebug. A pretty…creepy looking one.

While most of the kids looked up to see Kissy and the Snugglebug she was holding, Aether doesn't even seem to bother to look up at all. Moreso looking off to the side while ignoring the murmurs or movements from the other kids and the toy that just walked in. Aether had been feeling... distant lately? Ever since he heard news that Maury had left, without saying GOODBYE OR ANYTHING. He felt- somewhat sad... and ANGRY at the moment. At everyone even. It's not that he's blaming EVERYONE for Maury's absence.(Well okay, maybe he blames the toys a bit.) It's just... he wants to be left alone. Doesn't feel like talking to anyone or even let anyone talk to him right now..and he clearly doesn't feel like paying attention in class considering that he's still adjusting to his friend's... "disapperance". It wasn't until Aether looked up that he saw the Snugglebug that Kissy was holding which instantly caught his attention soon after. Snapping his head to pay closer attention on the toy. That Snugglebug looks familiar... Is that- WAIT, ISN'T THAT MAURY'S? What's it doing here? Didn't Maury take it with him before he- left..? More importantly…, why would Maury leave his Snugglebug behind?

Kissy walked up to Aether while he was struggling with his thoughts and handed it to him. She was…giving it to him-? Rusty took a small note of this and turned to Kissy with a raised brow before looking back at Aether. Huh…Must’ve been Maury’s Snugglebug… he was informed by the caretakers that he had left just recently due reaching the legal age. Kissy took a small step back after handing it to Aether before looking behind her. Oh- he didn’t even…see Hoppy there…

Hoppy: “We figured that…since you’re pretty close to Maury, we’d give it to you after he left!”

Huh... Aether was shocked by the offer…but his expression slowly softened when he look down to see the snugglebug itself, gently examining it to see if he's damaged in some areas before looking at his name. Heh, it's nice to see Brine again. The cute little bug.

Aether: "Oh. Yeah sure. I'll be happy to take him in. uh- Thank you."

He would've asked them more about what happened with Maury and WHY he had to leave so soon then and there. But honestly... he doesn't feel like arguing for today. Besides... he has Maury's Snugglebug to take care of now. And he actually appreciates that he at least has SOMETHING from him after he left. Though he's not sure how much Maury likes the little fella considering he's usually turned off majority of the time..but he’s sure Maury would be happy to know that his friend is taking care of him now.

Even though most people would find Brine creepy or..scary looking, Aether actually finds him rather cool to look at. Mainly because he reminds him of some type of crytid that you would find in some small town's folklore. Considering that its antennas DO look like eyes from afar. He honestly would've given Maury credit back then for making the design itself had he brought him out more during one of their occasional hangouts. He didn't realized that his smile was showing while he looked down at the snugglebug in his hands until he caught himself doing it.

While Aether examined the snugglebug, Orion looked down at the floor, her brows furrowing before she slowly began to realize something…Maury left at least…a day or so ago..? But his birthday is in 2 weeks…

Orion: “Wait…but that doesn’t add up.”

Hoppy: “…Sorry-?”

Orion: “My apologies it just…doesn’t add up. He’s not 18 yet.”

Everyone froze. Aether’s eyes widen as he looked at Orion upon hearing her comment. She's right... SHE'S RIGHT! Maury CAN'T leave the place if he's not even 18 yet. Which means that he's still considered a minor. Then... Wait- where DID he go if he's not even allowed to leave yet?? He then turn to look at Hoppy with a mixture of confusion and suspicion. Aether REALLY doesn't want to argue with them right now but if they keep straying him from the truth? Then... Well he might just have to- He just wanted to know where Maury is and if he's okay. Hoppy’s eyes widened at the looks of the other toys, Kissy slowly backed away, her brows furrowing slightly in a mixture of worry and…guilt..?

Hoppy: “I-“

Rusty: “Wait…hes not 18? But they told me that he was. Fascinating..”

Orion: “Waitwaitwait…they WHAT?”

Rusty: “When I first appeared here in Playcare, they told me that Maury was turning 18 soon and would be leaving. The day he did leave..they said that he hit the right age.”

Orion: “..oh..Somethings not right here…no…somethings very wrong..”

Rusty began muttering to himself before he slowly realized something

Rusty: “and if he wasn’t 18 yet but was instead 17…then somebody MUST have done something to him! It only makes sense! Why would he run away at the age of 17 when he could just wait? Wasn’t he the popular one? Why would he wanna run away from THIS? From his friends? It’s only logical that somebody must’ve done something to him..and YOU guys know.”

Rusty finished off his sentence, pointing at Hoppy and Kissy. Before Hoppy could even begin to explain herself, a loud noise can be heard from Aether's desk. Aether had slammed his fists on the table on accident.. Yet... his clenched fists that were shaking a bit too violently might say otherwise. He seems agitated. REALLY agitated. Though… he looks like he's trying to stay calm as possible from the revelation he was hearing.

Aether: "Are you. Telling me. That Maury didn't leave on his own terms??"

His voice betrayed the tone of frustration that he tried to keep hidden. It's already bad enough that Maury's absence had taken a toll on him..and now this!? What…Happened with Maury? He needs to know if he's alright. HE NEEDS TO KNOW IF HE'S FINE! Rusty then stood up, quickly writing down some information in his notebook.

Rusty: “It only makes sense! He’s not legally allowed to leave nor would it make sense for him to WANT to leave!” … “You guys know something..oh…this is the most informative I’ve gotten since I’ve been here!”

Zack: “Maybe they did the same thing to my dad all those years ago…”

As Zack muttered to himself, Melvin simply sat there at his desk, silent. Alon seemed to open an eye and slightly adjust his headphones in order to listen to the conversation better as Maggie cowered slightly. Orion’s eyes widened. Whatever those toys did…it was bound to happen..Maury always ran his mouth to them anyways! What did he expect? She was about to speak up when Hoppy suddenly raised her voice.

Hoppy: “That’s ENOUGH EVERYONE!”

Everyone was shocked. Yelling-? She never does that… Aether flinched a bit from Hoppy's yelling..yet seemed to straigthen himself up once he calm down a bit, Suspicion still written in his face as he decided to listen to what THEY have to say.

Hoppy: “This is over! We did what we needed to do! Cmon Kissy..”

Hoppy and Kissy walked out of the room, leaving everyone to their own thoughts…it was silent when Rusty suddenly spoke up..

Rusty: “Odd…Does she usually yell?”

Orion: “No..Not at all..”

Rusty: “Huh…suspicious.. Maybe if I could get out and-“

Orion: “No.”

Rusty: “…wha-“

Orion: “I said, No. Maury, Caleb, Maria and Azure are already gone. It’s simply fate. We don’t need anyone ELSE going missing…have ANY of you even noticed their absences?”

While everyone muttered amongst themselves, Aether slowly pondered to himself. If he was being honest, he only ever noticed Maury's and maybe Maria's absences. Maury, because it was obvious that he would noticed something's off the moment he couldn't find him. And Maria because he would usually see her walking around in some parts of Playcare from time to time. But then again, he doesn't exactly know what Maria's schedule is like. He didn't expect Caleb to be gone because he just assumed that he was probably somewhere hiding and spooking people again. And he also didn't expect Azure to be gone too since he heard that she's too nice to break the rules or something similar and he barely gets to sees her sometimes. But honestly though. He's just glad that he doesn't have to argue further... maybe another time then.

Rusty: “I say we figure out what happened to them.”

Orion: “No, Oxi.”

Rusty: “and why not!? I may be the new guy here but…just hear me out!”

Orion: “No! We shouldn’t tamper with fate-“

Aether: "Wait a sec- Us? Are you suggesting that we ALL go out to find them? Rusty are you sure that's a good idea??"

Aether exclaimed with perplexity. He Genuinely didn’t mean to cut off Orion mid sentence back there. He was just so caught off guard by what Rusty was suggesting. Like... on ONE hand, he DOES want to figure out what had happened with Maury. But at the same time, Is It REALLY A Good Idea To Leave Playcare For This? He’s SEEN what some of the toys are capable of first hand before this. Besides. If he DID leave to find his friend, Usher would've been confused as to where he had gone off to. And that's just another "Maury Situation" waiting to happen at that point so can he really-?

Orion: “it’s NOT a good idea which is why we SHOULDN’T GO-!”

Rusty: “Orion! Please! Hear me out on this!”

Zack: “… …I don’t kn-kn-know h-how to put th-his but… this might b-be the only way for me to find my d-d-dad…”

Maggie: “Yeah..I- I th..think we should go.. wh…what if Maury is b..badly hurt?”

Orion: “Wh-…What if he’s hurt-!?”

Rusty: “Orion, please!”

Rusty suddenly got up from his seat, running over to Orion and standing right in front of her desk. Alon silently listened into the conversation as Melvin let out a small hum from his own seat.

Rusty: “From the…short amount of time I’ve been here…I’ve heard that you’re all about…fate! And destiny! But you HAVE to under that your “destiny” ISNT gonna happen if you don’t get up and MAKE it happen!”

Orion fell silent, looking at everyone else before crossing her arms. There were so many others here. Maury..Caleb, Maria and Azure disappeared because that’s simply what their fate decided. She can’t just- leave and LOOK for her destiny! Look for her fate…! …can she..?

Orion: “It’s dangerous.”

Rusty: “It is!”

Orion: “Someone could get hurt.”

Maggie: “B-But what if Maury is hurt?”

Orion: “Someone here could get KILLED!-“

Rusty: “Cmon Orion! Please! I…” … “How about a group vote.? All in favor that we leave to find Maury, raise a hand!”

Maggie and Zack both raised their hands with Melvin giving a small nod. Soon after..almost every kid had their hand raised. Aether put both his hands in his face as his frustration can be heard muffled from the inside. Whyyyy Rustyyyy... He somehow even got the others to take his side. After a few minutes he put his hands down with a sigh, his face already showing off the answer he's about to say.

Aether: "Finnneee... If everyone's down to it then I guess I’ll go too. But if we somehow do get hurt, KILLED EVEN- ! We're blaming ALL of this on you Rusty!!"

And if push comes to shove, he could always use Rusty as a Scapegoat. Who better to blame than the eldest one of us here who had FULL responsibility for their well being? He should probably go and find Usher around Playcare since he didn't come to school today, tell him that he's following some "merry band" to find Maury. Anddd give him the full context of what happened just so he doesn't freak out more than Aether imagine he would. Orion’s jaw dropped with her fists tightening up. Both of her eyes were wide open, something pretty rare…she looked like she was about to snap.

Orion: “U-Unbelievable..! UNFORGIVABLE!!! I- You- you all-!…” … “Urgh…FINE…! I’ll go…too… I may not be the oldest but I AM the wisest. Everyone, My room, Meeting. RIGHT when the sun falls. Bring anything that you feel will be useful. Grab your friends too. Nobody…gets left behind. Alright?”

Everyone looked up as the bell rang. Great! Rusty smiled with a fist pump and quickly ran out as Orion slowly rose up, putting a hand to her head in stress. She had a bad feeling about this. A REALLY…bad feeling..she didn’t like this at all… But she wasn’t just gonna let a bunch of children younger than her go exploring recklessly. Aether guessed that…he can bring Usher along too..if he wants to that is. As he was about to get up from his desk, Aether had almost forgotten that he still had Maury's Snugglebug on his lap. Oh. Maybe he can bring him with them? Bring them to their RIGHTFUL owner once they found him. Just gotta keep him safe and undamaged for the whole trip.. He took one good look before carefully putting Brine in his bag as he got up and walked out the school alongside the other students. ...He's not sure what... But something tells him that Maury may have gotten a fate worst then death. Oh boy. He knows he's gonna relate with Orion a lot later on.

Lonnie had many reasons to be suspicious of this place.

The toys’ so-called dress-codes, Caleb’s conspiracy theories, Maggie’s hiding spots, Zack’s dad’s whereabouts, the other generals, in Cinnatart’s words, Icarus spotting keylogging devices in places where they shouldn’t…

Whatever the hell this Theater Incident is…

But Lonnie allowed it to slide. He had his own little unfinished business to take care of, which he planned on getting back to later. Right now, he just had to sit through this Geometry lesson Miss Delight was teaching. Were there only…five of them in class right now? 

Yeah, it was just him, Maury, Zack, Aether, and Orion…He’s known about Maria and Caleb being missing for a while now, Usher’s dislike of the teachers, and Maggie’s dislike of the toys in general…But Azure? Well, Maria’s apparently like a sister to her, so her disappearance might’ve affected her in some way…

Lonnie had his own priorities. And if there’s one thing that he learned in his workfield…

It’s to learn when not to get involved.

And by whatever god that still hasn’t abandoned this doomed timeline yet, if he really does need to get involved, then let there be a sign.

“Class dismissed! You all have a delightful day!”

And that’s the cue. Upon Miss Delight’s greeting, the students began packing up their things, with Lonnie not being exempt from that. But not before giving him one last glance at his own geometry notes. He can’t exactly say he remembers much of the lessons than when he first learned of it, but the refresher was nice. 

His writing was tiny and only included the keywords and all, as if made to fit as much information as possible…and ironically also using up the remaining space for doodles of jellyfish and other sea creatures…

Shoving the notebook back in his worn down backpack, he slung it over his shoulders before leaving. Hmm…seems like everyone already left. Looks like it’s his turn to turn off both the AC and the lights. Scanning the room, the place was full of color and decorations that you’d think you’d only see in the Preschool wing of the school. Honestly, that seemed to be a recurring theme with the factory itself. They really want to drive home the fun kiddy aspect of this place.

Waltzing to where the AC was, he passed Maury’s chair and…spotted his Geometry book? Did he leave it? Out of curiosity, Lonnie opened the book. Looks like he tends to underline keywords with pencil instead of using the traditional highlighter. Probably to leave the option to erase any irrelevant info. 

There’s other small notes regarding the lessons scattered about in the pages, though it seems like not much effort was put into it. Some of the writings were smudged too. Lonnie can imagine Maury accidentally smudging it with the side of his palm a lot.

Regardless, there’s nothing here of much use. It’s probably better to return it. Shutting the lights in the room, he stepped out of the classroom to leave, passing through the hallways as he did. 

Sticker-filled lockers line from end to end in said hallway, though leaving the textbook in Maury’s wasn’t much of an option. Not without knowing his padlock’s password. Instead, he heeded no mind and exited the school, planning to go to the Game Station. 

That’s apparently where Maury usually goes after school. A bit inconvenient since you still have to use the Playtime Express and the Train Station to get there from Playcare, but whatever. Gives him the excuse to familiarize himself with the factory more instead of just Playcare.

Boarding Playtime Express’s cable car, he moved some of the non-living mini-critters to sit on one of the seats, letting himself lean on the back cushions for that sweet sweet back relief. He then stared at the TV in the corner. 

It played mostly the same Playtime Co. cartoons that played when he was first being toured around by the toys. According to the other orphans, that’s all it ever played. Well, apparently not always, as far as what Zack accidentally slipped up. Totally not ominous whatsoever, that kid…

Then he arrived at the Train Station. 

Not too eventful. Sharing seats with mostly toys and the occasional younger orphan here, he stared at one of the windows, spotting security cameras through the reflection without giving himself away to the cameras themselves. Alright then. 

Most of the toys were either completely tense, or absolutely exhausted. While the orphans, mostly younger ones, were talking amongst themselves about whatever new games Maury had planned for them next. Everything was mostly fine, until…

This- ear shattering scream rang out.

The train suddenly erupted into a frenzy. The younger orphans jumped out of their seats, the exhausted toys were quickly woken out of their daze, and the tense ones stood up to calm the situation down. And if that wasn’t enough, muffled shouts from somewhere in the factory followed soon after.

“WHAT!? NO!!! QUIT RUNNIN’ SO I CAN GRAB YOU!! DON’T YALL KNOW WHAT HE'S GON DO TO ME!? I CAN'T GO THROUGH THAT AGAIN!!! NOT AGAIN PLEASE!!”

All of the toys simultaneously froze. Did they recognize that voice? Some of them shared shocked glances, while others covered the orphans’ ears. Although they didn’t bother with Lonnie, assuming his headphones are still playing.

But…

“NONONONO!!! PLEASE!!! GET BACK HERE!! WHY ARE YOU TWO SO….FUCKIN’ SELFISH!?!? CAN’T YA’LL SEE WHAT YOU’RE DOIN’?!?” The voice pleaded. “NONE OF THIS WOULDA HAPPENED IF YOU TWO BRATS HAD JUST STAYED PUT IN PLAYCARE!"

He heard it all.

"IF YOU HAD JUST STAYED THERE YOU COULDA LEFT! WOULD THAT HAVE BEEN SO FUCKIN’ HARD!? HIXEL’S DEAD." The voice continued to ring out from who knows where. "THE FOUR LEADS MIGHT DIE…and IM GON GET SENT BACK TO THE TRENCHES AND ITS ALL. YOUR. FAULT!!!”

He heard everything…

“N-no…NO NOT AGAIN! PLEASE! PLEASE, MAN! I TRIED MY BEST! JUST NOT AGAIN! A.I.!?, NANCY!?, ANTSY- SILAS!! HELP ME!!! I DONT WANNA-”

What in the ever-loving hadal zone was that?! The scream was loud enough to cause the lights to flicker, and the commotion was even starting to rock the train a bit. Lonnie stood up and held onto the grab handles as tight as he could until the dust finally settled, and whoever was conducting the train had no choice but to stop to an abrupt halt.

…Well, not that far of a walk away from the Game Station, Lonnie guessed.

As he walked the entire time, he couldn’t help but think of what that was about. Two brats? Maria and Caleb? Hixel? Like the toy robot? There’s four leads? Well, he knows about Mommy and Doey being two of them thanks to Cinnatart, but who are the others? Who are they, and who are those names the voice mentioned at the end? The trenches? D-did that person who screamed die…?

Who’s…this he…that’s threatening him…?

One walk to the Game Station later, and he arrived to see other younger orphans telling the ones Lonnie shared a train ride with not to bother with Maury’s next game. Something about being unable to find him?

‘Don’t tell me I had to deal with all of that for nothing…’ Lonnie thought.

Why is he even spending all of this effort looking for one person, when he could’ve just left the textbook in Maury’s room at Home Sweet Home? He knew he told himself it’s for familiarizing himself more, but he’s starting to think of all the better times he could’ve done that. In the corner of Lonnie’s eye, he then found a certain head toy in pink. Great, maybe Miss Long Legs knows where the missing boy is.

“Excuse me- Miss Long Legs?”

The toy flinched, before turning around to face him. 

“Yes, dear?”

Seems even she was tense. Was this about Maria and Caleb’s whereabouts? Makes sense, he figured. The first seventy-two hours are the most critical when looking for a missing person, and how many days has it been since those two’s disappearances? Nevertheless, Lonnie feigned ignorance and tilted his head.

“Umm- I can’t help but notice how on edge you and the others have been, and- I don’t think that scream really helped.” He pointed out. “Is it about Maria and Caleb?”

Mommy’s breath went unsteady for a minute, looking at the other orphans at the Game Station. Why did she even agree on letting Azure go? She should’ve stayed with the others while the other three searched for Maria and Caleb! What- just because A.I. vouched for her? That meeting left here really tense, and the sands of time are only further running out. Regardless, she forced a smile.

“Well yes, b-but rest assured, we will find them!” She tried to convince Lonnie…and herself. The last thing she needed was another orphan conducting their own search party. “But enough about that, what brings you here, Lonnie dear-”

“You guys already contacted the authorities about it, right?” Lonnie raised an eyebrow. “You don’t have to do this all on your own. The factory is really big and all, and I’m sure the police can help-”

“No! No, umm-” Mommy cleared her throat. “What I meant to say is, we’ve got it all taken care of! Now, as I was saying…”

“What brings you here, Lonnie dear?”

Lonnie hid his rising suspicions under his oblivious facade, before presenting Maury’s geometry book in his hands.

“I was wondering where Maury is? He left his textbook in class, and I wanted to return it to him.” He filled Mommy in, then glanced at the disappointed younger orphans. “I’ve overheard from the younger kids that he’s not here, when he usually has all these games planned.”

Mommy blinked in surprise, internally forcing herself to think of an explanation. “Oh! Well you see-” She momentarily looked at the Train Station’s waiting area, where she last saw Maury before leaving to eat lunch, and…

“He’s- He’s been adopted!” She lied. “He’s found a new home, with a wonderful new pair of parents!” She tried to make a convincing laugh, wincing internally at how it came out.

“Adopted?” Lonnie echoed, catching the toy’s failed attempt at subtlety. One that Mommy would hope he’d excuse for stress from the two missing kids. But at this point, Lonnie’s only getting more suspicious from here on out. “Oh, that’s great for him! I’m just a bit disappointed that I didn’t get to know him more before he left. Oh well…”

“Looks like I’m just gonna have to leave this in his room.” He slouched in feigned disappointment, holding the book back to his chest. “Take care, Miss Long Legs!”

Mommy nodded in return, watching in worry as Lonnie disappeared from her sight. She fidgeted with her plastic fingers, unable to shake off the jitters from her spine. Five days…

That’s all they have…

Part 2's first draft is already done, I'm just waiting for Zacker's owner to give me the green light since that's when Zacker actually shows up. Oh, and fun fact! Okay I just had a random thought

While there are Christmas toys

are there others for other holidays (including some of the “not really a holiday but screw it-“ ones like April fools) ?

cause while I did make handyman: green as a April fools joke & remastered them and gave them actual lore

i got inspired by some things a few games and YouTube channels did for April fools so 🤷🤷🤷

(Also cause I wanted to Segway into Halloween for a moment

what do you think some of the orphans would have as costumes (mainly the important ones that aren’t nameless background characters )

Caleb, most would probably think “pirate” cause he could do a double eyepatch thing but nope, he does a weeping angel from doctor who (cause they would guarantee his death if they were real in the AU ) (don’t ask how he got the costume on (I mean he isn’t clumsy but it’s a intricate costume ) )

Zack probably some oversized jester costume they found (that matches shadows the Bellmaster coincidentally)

Melvin would probably be Ryu from street fighter or a handmade costume of the version of Luigi from the earlier games where he wore white

Zack info! (I know it’s on April 1st but I’m being serious with this )

-it’s been 10 years and he hasn’t once stopped asking for his dad

-despite having BEEN there during the hour of joy he’s just too focused on getting his dad back to focus on that

-he’s still dealing with the trauma of having his dad taken away and cries practically all the time (mainly the actual act of crying not the loudly screaming part )

-he sometimes hears bells jingling sometimes at “night”…

-he tries to connect to others in playcare (like Lonnie or caleb ) but struggles due to them either not having parents or having bad ones (*unrelated to the two examples I picked) (usually. I forgot if there were any that didn’t have that as there backstory-)

-he never asks any questions beyond “where’s my dad?” & “what do you do to my dad?”

-the only reason they haven’t demoted him is cause he’s not close enough to 18 to justify it (even with maury he was 17 almost 18 )

-he would do almost anything for almost anyone if someone promised him info on where the toys took his dad no matter the cost

-he isn’t a fan of most of the caretakers due to the obvious misdirection they keep trying (plus the fact he saw mommy specifically grab and tear his dad away from him )

-sometimes makes gifts for his dad around Christmas and leaves them under a tree that would be set up in playcare (what happens to those gifts nobody really knows. sometimes the caretakers get rid of them. other times- … )

-sometimes would destroy any mommy long legs toys out of rare bursts of anger (there is a growing pile in his room at home sweet home)

Clarance maneuvered through the vents, his long and slim body made it easy for him to get around within them. He looked around for any sight of Handyman, a chunk of plastic, a wing, anything. Unfortunately…he found nothing. Clarance turned a corner then climbed up and continued down before he eventually made it to a hole. Did they…? No. No, Handyman’s reaction time was too quick for them to possibly fall down some…hole in a vent…besides, there was no sign that they DID fall down the hole. He looked around at the bits of blue and purple fur that were scattered about before looking down the hole again. He thought about if he should go down and look for Handyman down there but…no. No. Handyman would probably kill him if he left those two kids alone for even a minute anyways. They were always so protective of kids like that. Clarance turned around and begun to quietly make his way back towards the two children.

Maria stayed still as Caleb wrapped up her injured leg. The two were interrupted however as light thumping was heard coming towards them. Maria was about to grab her bat when she recognized the long, slim shadow that was coming from around the corner. Oh…that weird clay toy guy. Maria didn’t like him…but at least he was better than that mannequin. He could actually say what was on his mind. Clarance turned the corner and walked over to the two of them.

Clarance: “🟪Okay…I couldn’t find him…so I’ll be staying with you two.🟪 - 🟢Please do not run off.🟢”

Maria gave a thumbs up as Caleb shrugged and nodded. Clarance let out a sigh of relief before picking up the two of them and putting them on his back. As Clarance crawled through the vents, Caleb couldn’t help but wonder…what did he mean by what he had said earlier about him “not lying this time”? Did he lie often? And if so…then why was he helping them. Was that why Handyman was so angry with him earlier? Caleb made sure his backpack was on properly as he pondered to himself.

Mommy yawned as she walked into the room, carrying a smaller toy with her. Baby Long Legs, previously Stella Greyber. Huggy eyed Stella but made no attempt to do or say anything about her being here as Mommy went and sat down. Bunzo quickly walked into the room after her then pulled a chair out for her to sit down in. He stood still next to the spider toy as he looked at everyone else who was in the room. Huggy and Boxy, Catnap and Miss Delight, and Doey and Dogday…Huggy was writing down on a piece of paper as Mommy listened into the conversation that Doey and Catnap were having, cradling Stella who made no attempt to escape from her grasp.

Doey: “🟧So they fell down a hole?🟧”

Catnap: “..Yes.”

Doey: “🟧Well…then the best course of action is finding them again…and quickly. Two orphans already went missing from Playcare…we don’t need an experiment running around while they’re missing.🟧”

Mommy perked up as Doey said this then rose a brow.

Mommy: “Oh? Which ones?”

Doey: “🟧Maria and Caleb. They were last seen in Playcare 9 hours ago. We’re thinking that they escaped using the lift…but…the security cameras didn’t catch anything.🟧”

Huggy slapped his pencil down then slid his paper over to Doey who picked it up, flicking it before reading what it said. After he had finished reading it his face scrunched up in a mixture of disbelief and shock. He let out a noise of discomfort before passing the note over to Catnap who then passed it to Mommy. Mommy frowned then put a hand to her lips.

Mommy: “oh…you really think they could’ve?”

Huggy nodded and took the paper again before writing another thing down and handing it back to Mommy. She read the note before letting out a hum and handing Stella over to Bunzo. Bunzo panicked for a second before regaining his composure, quickly making sure he was holding her properly.

Mommy: “Pianosaurus was sent to the medical room…Well…It seems like we’ve got some naughty little children on our hands. And everyone knows how mommy feels about naughty children!”

Doey: “🟧Well…that explains where the two orphans are…🟧”

Catnap: “..And two experiments…”

Doey: “🟧what?🟧”

Catnap: “Clarance is missing.”

Doey’s face went from one to shock into anger and resentment. Oh…Clarance. He was about to respond angrily but before he could, he let out a sigh and attempted to push down his anger before readjusting his hat. While most of the toys in the room cautiously moved away from him incase he snapped, Dogday instead stayed put next to him, just to make sure he was alright. After getting himself together, Doey put his hand against the table.

Doey: “Well…then I’ll keep a lookout for him. I’ll let everyone else know to do the same. Our main goal is to get the orphans back to playcare to be adopted and to make sure that no experiment escapes the factory.“

Mommy: “Ahem…mommy has an idea. We could lure them back to playcare by l-“

Doey: “🔻No. we are NOT lying.🔻- �� You know how I feel about stuff like that..🟡”

Catnap: “The Prototype can hel-“

Doey: “🟧🔻And we can’t let HIM know either!🔻🟧”

Stella: “oh…Relax. Your Kevin is shining through..”

Doey: “🔻WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME!?🔻”

Mommy: “Don’t you dare speak to her that way!“

Miss Delight: “Er…maybe we shouldn’t fight in here?”

Dogday: “I’m with Miss Delight on that one…let’s just calm down and think for a moment.”

Doey gave Stella and Mommy a cold glare before breathing in and out until he calmed down.

Doey: “🟧Right…Look. I’ll tell Poppy to keep a look out on the security cameras. But we cannot tell The Prototype. This stays between us, got it?🟧”

Everyone let out murmurs of agreement before Mommy stood up, taking Stella from Bunzo and making sure that she was steady in her arms before walking out. Bunzo quickly followed after her. Eventually, Everyone else had left too with Dogday making sure the door was closed and locked before leaving.

Kissy walked into the medical room, handing some medical supplies to Dex and Daisy before walking over to Medic, pulling him to the side. Medic looked up at her, tilting his head as she handed him a note. He slowly read it before sighing and pocketing the note.

Medic: “Yes, Yes. Bring her in. We don’t just treat toys here. You can take Azure to the back. As for Zack I’m sure a conversation with Bobby is all he needs.”

Kissy nodded before leaving the room. Daisy silently watched her leave before turning her attention back to Dex who was wrapping up Pianosaurus’ face.

Handyman kicked a rock to the side before quickly walking into an empty supply room. They rummaged around for something to bandage themself up but paused…catching sight of what looked to be a pale scarf and a…bloodied, torn picture. They picked up the picture and looked at it, trying to figure out what it was before shrugging and tossing it to the side. They took the scarf however, staring at it before wrapping it around their neck. Huh…comfy…familiar even. They continued to rummage around for medical supplies.

Fun facts:

-Lonnie uses his battle IQ to make up for what he lacks in luck, and does the same with his agility and speed to make up for what he lacks in strength and durability.

-Semi-related, a hidden talent of his is freestyle dance, specifically street dancing. The fast movements are what gets translated to his agility. Ironically he's horrible with choreographed dance.

-With his hax specifically, I'd probably say that it's his ability to dodge rapidly

-Though he goes around Playcare to get as much information as possible under the guise of trying to trigger any deja vu, he is genuinely trying to get into the others' interests. He himself wasn't able to make time for interests before arriving, and wanted to see if anything will give him that sort of spark.

-He doesn't really like any of the toys in the Playtime brand, but if he had to pick a favorite, it would be Bolt

-The little bandana around his neck used to be the blanket he was found to be wrapped in when he was a baby.

-Lonnie as a toddler once filled a kiddie pool full of frogspawn. The neighborhood then had to deal with a frog infestation after. He's still proud of that.

-He's average when it comes to cooking. His real talent in that department is being able to make something good with even the most random ingredients sitting in a mostly empty fridge.

-He'd never admit it, but Lonnie is touch-starved as hell. He can't sleep without a pillow to cling on.

-He can actually play the piano, and sometimes offers to play from the backstage of the theater during any plays. Plus it helps with avoiding suspicion when he writes using musical notes as ciphers.

-His comfort drink is the honey milk drink from Ponyo. For food, he gravitates towards anything spicy. He has a ridiculously high spice tolerance, but it tends to earn him a trip to the bathroom every time.

-He had a childhood crush on Alan Turing, and his favorite movie back then was the Imitation Game. Don't ask, his former crush makes him cringe everytime he thinks about it.

-Although they double as signal jammers, Lonnie's headphones do work as actual headphones. His playlist is full of sea shanties and songs from musicals, with the occasional Cosmo Sheldrake song in there.

"I haven't seen much of Bunzo, but apparently he hosts the best parties whenever it's an orphan's birthday. Too bad I don't know when mine is."

"Kissy's sweet! But sometimes, I think she gets so wrapped up with caring for others that she forgets about herself. I try to bring her and the others a glass of water, since it must be so hot wearing those costumes all the time."

"I'm grateful with how much Bobby's willing to help me recover my memories. Plus she lets me use the scrap paper she used to communicate before to make myself more handmade paper for my sketches!"

Azure walked around through Playcare with a frown on her face. It’s…been a while since she’s seen Maria. She’s usually not gone for this long and with that…blood curdling scream that was heard earlier…a few of the orphans were sent into a panic. Azure was worried. Was that Maria? Azure has simply just been rather unresponsive…she sighed before heading over to Home Sweet Home. She just wanted to lay down… Azure walked into her room and closely closed the door shut before taking off her headphones. She then worked to puff out her hair again before taking off her bag and sitting down on her bed. She rubbed at her temple before looking back at the headphones. Maria gave her those…

She fell back against her bed and decided to try and take her mind off of things by imagining stuff. Animals..? No…plants? Nah… maybe some games? Fun..but no. She doesn’t wanna do anything right now…she could barely muster up the energy to move. She felt so…Yeesh….is this how Zack feels about his dad 24/7? It…kinda sucks. Maybe she’s just being mopey and dramatic but…she can’t help it. Maria was like…her sister! And…she doesn’t many friends anyways..she always had trouble making friends at Playcare. It was mostly the toys she hung out with. She always somehow managed to say the wrong thing and that just made people angry or upset with her and…she just doesn’t try anymore.

She paused and sat up before looking over at one of her plushies…a black and white snugglebug. She got up to go see it and looked at the name. “Smiley”. Tsk…she’s not feeling very “smiley” right now… Nontheless, she picked up the toy and held it close before walking back to her bed and sitting down.

She shook her head and sighed. The toys…well…more so Bobby and Kissy had told her to focus more on “the positives” when she’s having one of her “depressive episodes”. She…doesn’t really think it’s working but…she can try. She got up and walked over to her wooden desk. She pulled out a piece of paper from the drawer attached to it before grabbing a pencil and writing her thoughts down. Mostly…TRYING to write positive stuff. She continued writing before she suddenly paused then looked back at something she had wrote.

“Go and find Maria”

…can she…is she allowed to…do that? Azure gulped and looked down towards the floor before looking back at the paper. Well…Maria did it…so…it can’t be THAT bad…right? She stood up slowly and grabbed onto her paper before opening her door and looking around. It was daytime so most of the toys were around. Maybe…she could sneak out? Sure, most of the toys liked her but she wasn’t the most noticeable person. Especially with how quiet she was. Azure looked back into her room and pondered for a moment before finally deciding…

That’s it. She’s gonna go find Maria. She’s done moping around and being…what? Some depressed brat? At least that’s what her parents called her before she got here…anyways. Azure grabbed onto her small plushie and shoved it into her yellow smiley face bag before picking it up and throwing it over her shoulder. She grabbed a couple of pads, a small notepad, a couple of pencils and a sharpener. She was about to walk out when she suddenly remembered…her headphones. She quickly walked over to them and tied the back of her hair up before putting her headphones on. Once secure, she took the hair tie out, letting her hair fall back down. before walking out of Home Sweet Home. She managed to sneak past the orphans. I mean..when you don’t talk to anyone and wear all blue and yellow, nobody really pays attention to you. She looked around. Maury was gone…that’s a first. Azure managed to sneak over to the lift before pulling a lever and quickly stepping inside. She ducked down just as Kissy turned and looked to her direction and stared before raising a brow. Maybe…it’s just a small smiling critter…after all, there are plenty of those around here.

Azure gulped as the machine rose up. She always hated big machines like these…they mess with her sensory issues. Nontheless, she stayed out as it rose up. She’s gonna find Maria and that’s FINAL. Maybe she’ll find that other kid too…what was his name? Caleb? All she knows about him is that he couldn’t see and liked to pop up behind people…maybe he’s with Maria? Maybe.
