WHY CHOOSE STEM STRAND?

Choosing the STEM track opens the door to many possibilities for successful and fruitful careers especially after pursuing further education. Typically preparing senior high students for future studies and rigorous examinations to practice their profession. STEM graduates are essential to growing some of the most sought-after and in-demand industries. Graduates of the STEM strand and their various tracks are involved in integral industries that keep the nation going. By undertaking their courses, students acquire unique skill sets that equip them to be the doctors, engineers, economists and scientists of tomorrow.

STEM education prioritizes collaboration and teamwork in its syllabus to teach to kids the importance of communication and leadership towards achieving common goals. Communication skills are perhaps the most important of all life skills. Having the ability to discuss and convey complex concepts to others while also learning from one another will be the key to achieving success in a child’s life as they grow up. Group activities in STEM promote sociable skills like active listening, open-mindedness, and open them up to giving and receiving constructive feedback. The kind of material offered in a STEM education is focused on engaging kids in critical thinking.

Critical thinking is the process of actively conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, and evaluating information through observation, experience, reflection, reasoning or communication. As such, students will be encouraged to answer questions or solve problems not based on memorization but based on actively engaging with the material to understand the issue at hand and solve it using logic. These kinds of situations better reflect what is expected of them in the workplace – experiencing situations like this early in their education will better prepare them for their futures. When engaged in STEM subjects, students can develop and strengthen their cognitive skills and learn the basics of coding and engineering in primary schools. This approach will develop kids’ cognitive abilities and aid them in the speed and quality of their problem-solving skills.

WHY CHOOSE STEM STRAND?

STEM Strand. STEM strand Is where I am right now, and yes I'm JUST a normal student who doesn't have a high IQ or even a critique mind in life. Hi, I'm Andrea👩‍💻 and this is my oh-so-not-good experience in STEM strand. I realized, being here means everything. Being a STEM student means a lot. Taking this path gives you another reason to live your life to the fullest, because maybe tomorrow will be your last-JOKE😜😉..

First, let me introduce you to the the strand i'm talking about. Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics or STEM is an academic strand for students who has an ability to analize, compute, and deliver lessons in their own little way. The strand is not only for achievers because it's also accommodating students who wants to learn and understand science and mathematics well.

All strand is hard especially if you're not into it and enjoying the way you want it to. Allowing yourself in this strand means allowing yourself to struggle. If you choose STEM strand, you can develop and strengthen your cognitive skills and learn the basics of coding and engineering in primary schools. Believe it or not, STEM strand is not my first choice in choosing an academic strand in senior high school but maybe, fate is a troublesome sometimes.. cause here I am now. Well, my course is related in science so this is the first step to reach it. So, what do you think about my strand? Is it good?

For those who don't know, STEM is one of the toughest strands that we can take in senior high school. It is a highly technical track that equips students with the skills necessary for pursuing further studies and professions in medicine, engineering, economics, and more. It has a wide coverage area regarding science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, or what we call STEM. In this strand, it can help you if you are planning to take a course related to it. The STEM strand is the best choice for you in college and will guide you on your path to getting ready for your course in college.

An advantage of STEM is that there are huge career opportunities for those who pursue a STEM-related course in college. In addition, the subjects are really interesting and thought-provoking. STEM is kind of hard, complicated, and stressful, but being a STEM student is fun and interesting. You will develop a passion for it and pursue your desired career.

Social media platforms are interactive digital channels that focus on the creation and sharing of thoughts, ideas, and information through virtual networks. Social media platforms are used by people to publish their daily activities, comments, and photos as well as re-publish information posted by others. Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Reddit, Instagram, and Pinterest are a few examples of leading social media websites.

The social platform has many advantages, such as allowing people to connect. With the help of social media, you can always keep connected to your loved ones. In today’s world, one cannot imagine meeting their loved one every single day. Social media has made this process a lot easier through Video Callings and much more stuff. However social platform also has some disadvantages, addictive use of social media is found to be the main cause of depression among many people. It disrupts the sleeping patterns in adults and may also lessen the mental growth of children. It also leads to cyber bullying which affects any person significantly.

As I illustrated it, social media have bad and good impacts in our society, yet social media have much more advantage than disadvantage impacts in our society.

Fake news might result from an overload of information. Social media sites can be used to discriminate against others, which can result in anxiety and sadness. Social media has been the site of numerous reported cyberbullying instances. If you disclose your information on social media carelessly, it could be stolen and used for nefarious purposes. You must limit the amount of information you provide on your profile and set your profile visibility to private if you want to prevent someone from stealing your identity.

If social media have advantages it also have disadvantages include affecting people's mental health especially young people , negative impacts body image and sleep, increase bullying, fear of missing out, and leads to greater feelings of anxiety, depression, loneliness.

Social media platforms has two faces, the good and the bad. It was just like a sword, a double edged sword. It can benifit you as much as it can consume and destroy you.

The good face of social media platforms is the way it can connect you to the world and provide you informations and motivations you can use for a better life. It can make you see what the world looks and how the worlds doing with just a few clicks with a promise that your private files and personal data's will be safe in it.

As the saying says "Promises are made to be broken". Social media platforms are very dangerous and not safe like it told you it would be. It is full of lies and full of negative things you'll wish you never knew. You can't trust anything because of errors in the system can shut your life down.

Social media platforms is a good invention that is also accesible by those dirty hands. Be careful holding unto this double edged sword as it can destroy what you are trying to build.

STEM: A Gateway to my Ultimate

Science and mathematics are two of the most important fields in a fast-paced world that is adaptive to a more technologically advanced millennium, enough to equip us in any endeavor brought by modernity. As a future nurse, I wanted to be a proficient medical health ally, and aligning with the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics strand is one big stepping stone to achieving my life's ultimate goals.

The STEM strand unleashes students' ability to investigate simple to complex societal problems. This strand teaches us to activate our skills as responsive and active students in designing solutions through research where the concepts of scientific, technological, engineering, and mathematical ideas are integrated and applied. One of the jobs that STEM strand cultures excel at is those in the medical field, one of which is nursing. Through this strand, we are being introduced to medicine through chemistry. We are also being trained to be future scientists through practical research, which could lead us into developing cures, treatments, and new methods for a better healthcare system. Most of the subjects under this strand are preparatory subjects that serve as foundations for necessary nursing principles required in the medical workforce. Not to mention that we are also being taught to enhance basic life skills such as writing, communicating, and speaking that are essential to keeping us globally competitive.

The STEM strand is the lens to keep us focused on the perplexity of the intrinsic world and simplify complexity through scientific methods, advanced concepts, and efficient techniques. Perhaps it would be a herculean task to be a nurse with ultimate competencies if not for the help of this strand.

"Why did I choose the STEM strand?"

STEM is an approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in K12. Of all strands in Senior High School, I have chosen the Stem strand since it gave me the spotlight in deciding on my dream job, which is Nursing. However, this STEM strand is a high expectation for students where time management needs to improve. STEM is well known for its difficulty in doing countless tasks, both minor and major subjects. In short, choosing STEM is highly doubtful for being one of the most challenging strands.

As a STEM student, I struggled with many tasks that I could not handle, particularly time management in school work and family time. Moreover, I am having difficulty taking care of myself due to this problem, and I am aware that it takes time to adjust to cope with it. Being a STEM student is one of the most stressful aspects of my life since many people have high expectations of me, and I am afraid of disappointing myself and others. Many of us STEM students are dealing with this problem. We work hard to complete all our schoolwork on time to exceed their expectations.

Despite all the struggles, the motivation and support from my family serve as a significant reason to continue and not give up. Being a STEM student made me realize that failure is a part of life and does not define us. Additionally, everything happens for a reason, and every struggle deserves perseverance to achieve goals and ambition in life. Throughout the challenges in STEM, I have learned and gained education growth. In choosing STEM, this strand tested what a capable one can aid in by teaching critical life skills, such as Interdisciplinary Skills, Critical Thinking, Soft Skills, and Problem Solving, which STEM is the one that will change my life.

Infinitesimal or Infinity?

I want you to think about these two things that I am about to tell you guys. First, consider that a man is standing away from the post with a distance of 1 unit (whatever unit meters, km, or even lightyears, it's your call). The man's goal is to reach the post in a very unique way through walking. The man reached half of the total distance and then he stopped. After a second, the man walked again reaching half of the first distance he traveled (it is just half of the half or 1/4), then he stopped again. After a second, he walked again and reached half of the distance that he traveled before this (it is just half of the 1/4 or 1/8). The man repeats the pattern, and the question is did the man reach the pose? Second, what is 1+2=? obviously, it is 3. What is 3+4? well, it is 7. And 5+6=11, 6+7=13, 7+8=15 (what I mean is this, 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10+.......). Repeating this pattern until we are adding to a very huge number or just the infinity (∞+∞). Writing this in a Mathematical way we have, ∑n, from n=1 to ∞. The question for this second scenario is what will be the total of this?

To answer these kinds of problems, Mathematics is the only tool that can help us. Mathematics is not just a number, but it is a beautiful language that models almost everything in our universe. From the smallest and tiniest atoms to the largest galaxies and stars can explain by the use of Mathematics. It is indeed that Mathematics is the language of the Universe. These are just a few examples of the applications of Mathematics. For me, Math is the most beautiful thing ever created by human intelligence. The first scenario is what we called "Zeno's Paradox". The answer to this problem is, the man can not reach the post. You ask why? Well, the man will take forever on getting the halves of the distances that he traveled. Multiplying 1/8 by 1/2 gives you 1/16. And 1/16 times 1/2 gives you 1/32. The denominator will approach infinity, while the numerator will remain at 1. And 1/∞ gives you a very small number that is almost 0 but not totally 0. This introduces the concept of infinitesimal (an indefinitely small quantity; a value approaching zero). For the second problem, you might answer that the total is just a very huge number ∞. Your answer is......WRONG. The total of 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10+11+12+13+14+......+..... and so on, is -1/12. Adding all of the Natural Number, at first we know that it is infinity but Ramanujan proved this (hindi parin talaga ako naniniwala na -1/12 ang total haha). Ramanujan's Summation is very intriguing.

By these, I am so in love with mathematics. Doing Mathematics makes my heart complete and makes me happy. Doing what makes you happy is one of the most precious treasures a person could ever do. Being happy and contended in life is my most priority. Working with a fine salary which is good enough to buy a burger is there. I will be infinitesimal in doing math, and infinity of Happiness. Now you see what is the reason why I choose STEM.
