agreeing with this description of the very rich and want to add, and there is something pervasively entitled and cultural with the American upper-middle class (of COURSE I should be able to lease a new car every three years and go on an international vacation every two months and be in the middle of a $50k kitchen remodel and eat out constantly and send my kids to private school that costs $20k-$40k each, but OH MY GOD don't you dare tax me so maybe I have to skip one of those vacations just so "those people" one town over who are poorer and don't live like me can have healthcare and education and enough money to not lose their job if their 12-year-old car breaks) and it makes me want to strangle something
and so many people who aren't upper-middle class seem to think these things are the Goal and bring happiness and unless you too can do them, you cannot be happy
basically everyone wants to pretend like they are also extremely wealthy, and what does that say about our society, when so many people want to chase this unhealthy goal of acting "rich" instead of just living in a way that's fulfilling (live so peacefully, mind my own business, wear my little outfits, just feed birds) and also paying taxes so your neighbor can also live in way that's fulfilling
