Another thing that haunts me about this entire thing is that Amanda wasn’t just funny like her coworkers, or funny like other Disney and Nickelodeon actresses. Amanda Bynes was funny like Carol Burnett. Funny like Lucille Ball. She was effervescent and classic. Her comedic sensibilities were deeply intelligent. She had *it*. And she should have grown into one of the best actresses of our generation. But *something* happened and derailed it all. Even if she’s not the same, I truly hope she’s well and happy. I want nothing but the best for her, even if it’s a quiet and private life. I adored her back then and always will.

There's a lot to be said about this documentary, much of it y'all have already covered already.
But something from the first episode that I haven't seen too many people discuss, is that one of the writers talked about how Dan Schneider hired two female writers (and sexually harassed and degraded them at their place of work) insisting on paying them both a split salary (as in, he was paying two female writers half of what he was paying his male writers, which WAS against the guild rules at the time) because "Women aren't funny."
...They were writers for the Amanda Show.
A show whose lead comedian, the star of the entire thing, was...female. A girl.
Wtf are you talking about dude, how are "women not funny" but your show centers entirely around a funny FEMALE?!
...Unless the joke there was that Amanda wasn't a 'woman', she was a young impressionable girl at his mercy 💀

quiet on set already came out? I'll have to watch it when I have the time tomorrow. I can already tell this documentary is going to be to nickelodeon what blackfish was to seaworld and what super size me was to McDonald's. their reputation will never recover after this, and honestly? I have no sympathy for the higher ups who stood by and did nothing about dan and his creepy associates.

Wouldn't it be so terrible if someone pirated all those Nickelodeon shows from the 90's and 2000's?! I mean, it would be so wrong to steal from Dan Schneider and all the other execs, even though child stars from Nickelodeon don't get residuals/royalties. That would be just a terrible thing to enjoy the hard work of so many talented young individuals who were so exploited by the industry by exploiting the industry right back. Nostalgia isn't worth breaking the law folks!

I’ve been able to catch a couple pieces of Quiet On Set on various places on the internet, and I have a lot of thoughts. This is one of them: I was an uptight religious child and I thought the Amanda Show segment “Popper Pants” was weird and suggestive as a child watching it. But I never wanted to be seen as a prude so I forgot about it until I remembered it again this morning.
Guys, these kids are yanking each other’s pants open and pouring things down them? Having them bend over so they can rip holes into each others pants and eat what’s inside? Knowing what we know about the climate in the writer’s room, this is INSANE
