#LatePost Posted @withregram • @abscbnpr STATEMENT OF ABS-CBN ON THE ALIAS CEASE AND DESIST ORDER ISSUED BY NTC At 2:26 PM today, ABS-CBN received an alias cease and desist order from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) directing ABS-CBN to cease and desist from operating digital TV transmission in Metro Manila using channel 43. While channel 43 is not mentioned in NTC’s cease and desist order (CDO) of May 5, 2020, and it is ABS-CBN’s informed understanding that channel 43 is not included in the CDO, digital TV transmission in Metro Manila using channel 43 will cease tonight (June 30), consistent with the intent of the alias CDO. This means that viewers with TVPlus set-top boxes in Metro Manila will be unable to watch Teleradyo, Jeepney TV, Yey!, Asianovela Channel, CineMo, and KBO. ABS-CBN has a pending petition with the Supreme Court questioning the NTC’s CDO and hopes that such petition will be resolved soon in its favor so that it can resume broadcasting on both analog and digital platforms in the service of the Filipino. https://www.instagram.com/p/CCFWMjnnsSb/?igshid=vy6sdk7014r9

On the weekdays slot, Melo Del Prado sa Super Radyo extends airing from the 5:30am pre-Dobol B Sa News TV slot to a 1-hour simulcast edition at 6am, making it 90 minutes of his program. While Easy Easy Lang replaces Kay Susan Tayo sa Radyo with Susan Enriquez manning the 1-hour public affairs program spinoff to the defunct GMA public affairs program Kay Susan Tayo during the early 2000′s, airing at 11am, back to back with the nationally-syndicated newscast Super Balita sa Tanghali Nationwide (via satellite on all Super Radyo AM Stations) anchored by Orly Trinidad and Lala Roque at 12nn. While Walang Siesta finally replaces with Bidang Bida sa Dobol B, a Showbiz-oriented talk show with the Dibadiingdings headed by Tootie, Janna Chu Chu and Mega Ooh La La at the 2pm slot, and the formal relaunch of Super Kalusugan with Ms. Shirley Escalante airing Mondays to Thursdays at 9pm (including the Go Natural-sponsored ‘Super Kalusugan: Natural na Galing’ on Wednesdays). While on Saturdays, Melo Del Prado will man Super Radyo Nationwide which originally hosted by Francis Flores which he then hosted his new afternoon program ‘Francis Kiko Flores: On Board’ from 2:30-4pm. GMA News TV has successfully moved to Channel 27 with no test broadcasts or shutdown notice, but after midnight of June 5, GNTV’s former home formally abandoned its transmission on Channel 11, though it underwent a 3-day low powered test broadcast from June 1-3 lowering its transmission power from 100KW to 30KW (a Ultra High Frequency TV Station must limit transmission up to a maximum of 50kw for analog TV) before the move. GNTV broadcasts nationwide on 30 relay stations being DWDB TV 27 as the sole origin station. Dobol B Sa News TV extends broadcast hours for 1 more hour and airing days up to weekends, making this simulcast broadened to a daily 6am-12pm timeslot right before GMA News’ longest-running midday newscast Balitanghali.
Aside from the termination of GMA Network and ZOE Broadcasting Network’s blocktime agreement, which most of its programs are no longer aired on GMA-7, GNTV, and international channels GMA PinoyTV and GMA LifeTV. ZBNI’s own programming are now exclusively aired on their own Light TV God’s Channel of Blessings on DTV-33 Manila and Free TV 33 Palawan.

Prior to its move, some weekend programs of GNTV as well as 2 of its weekday newscasts bid goodbye from May 25-May 31st. Day-Off, bid goodbye after 13 years from its debut on QTV on November 12, 2005 hosted by Pekto and Carmina Villaroel and changed its hosts over the years. While Wagas, a weekly drama anthology on love stories cancelled its entire 6-year run, but it will move eventually to GMA-7 by August as a daily series.

News To Go and Balita Pilipinas Ngayon had its final edition after 8 years on the air. GNTV’s mid-morning (soon, pre-noontime) newscast News To Go has covered live events in time of disaster and war, the 1st to break news, interviews with newsmakers on the developing story and issue, social media interactions, and virtual reality graphics. NTG earned a Gandingan award from the university of the Philippines Los Baños community.

Balita Pilipinas was originally a weekly regional newscast hosted by Arnold Clavio when it began airing on March 5, 2011, and several years later, it became a daily regional newscast anchored by Mark Salazar and Maki Pulido.
A week after it’s move, MARS, GNTV’s primetime talkshow bids goodbye with their final episode last June 13. MARS debuted in 2012 hosted by Suzi Abrera and Camille Prats and lasted for 7 years on the airwaves. This July, MARS relaunches on GMA-7 as a newest morning talk show Mars Pa More, with Camille retaining her stint plus her new partner Iya Villania-Arellano.

ABS-CBN Corporation has launched its newest DTV device for mobile phones. The company that brought ABS-CBN TVPlus when it sold more than 7 million units has introduced TVPlus Go, an on-the-go device suitable for Out-of-Home and outdoor use. With this new product, the public can now experience the same TVPlus benefits in the palm of your hand. How it works? TVPlus Go Units are available in Cellboy & Celltime stores in select SM Malls for an introductory price of P799 (includes a OTG USB dongle base and a detachable antenna). To enjoy TVPlus Go, your android device must be Version 5 and above, RAM must be 1GB or higher, and processor must have Dual Core or higher core. Download TVPlus Go app on the Google PlayStore, and once installed and the dongle has plugged in, open the app, and register your account (one-time registration is FREE) then scan available channels to enjoy all DTV channels, including ABS-CBN, S+A, Cinemo!, Yey!, DZMM Teleradyo, Knowledge Channel, and free trial channels O Shopping, Asianovela Channel, Movie Central, Myx, and Jeepney TV (free trial channels available in Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Metro Cebu, and Cagayan De Oro. Freemium channels are available in most TVPlus coverage areas). Freemium channels can be activated for FREE for only 1 android device, while succeeding android units with the same TVPlus Go device may charge P40/unit. In the next few months, TVPlus Go users can enjoy KBO Free Trial for registered users.
Last month, KRD reminded DTV box users in Mega Manila to rescan for continuous viewing of GMA & GNTV which many acted them until June 3rd deadline. Most viewers lost signal to these channels after the June 3 deadline due to lack of information on rescanning. Now, GMA Network invites DTV box and other DTV devices in Mega Manila to rescan and continue enjoy these channels and avoid duplicate channel name issues on your digibox.
youtube
TV Sets with DTV tuners may rescan (refer to the brand’s instruction manual for rescan instructions), while mobile phones with DTV apps can also rescan (make sure you have a DTV dongle plugged in to the OTG jack before rescanning. Apps like My Digital TV and TVPlus Go has a scan function to rescan available channels).

SC junks ABS-CBN petition vs. NTC halt order
#PHnews: SC junks ABS-CBN petition vs. NTC halt order
MANILA – The Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed the petition of broadcast firm ABS-CBN against the cease and desist order issued by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) after its legislative franchise expired last May.
In a statement, the high court cited the "supervening denial of the pending House bills for the renewal of the firm's legislative franchise" in July and found it appropriate to dismiss the case on the ground of mootness.
"Because of this supervening event, there is no actual substantial relief which ABS-CBN Corporation would be entitled to regardless of the Court's disposition of the merits of the petition," it said.
Associate Justice Priscilla Baltazar-Padilla took no part as she was on leave in the ruling by the court which voted unanimously to dismiss the petition.
In a 70-11 vote on July 10, the House committee on legislative franchises denied the application for a legislative franchise of the firm.
Previous House hearings have discussed the network’s franchise issues, including the citizenship of ABS-CBN chair emeritus Gabby Lopez; possible violation of the constitutional limits on foreign ownership; reported labor and tax violations; and other violations on the terms of its legislative franchise.
Last June, the SC dismissed a petition filed by Solicitor General Jose Calida in February, which had sought to terminate the franchise of the firm after the court ruled that his quo warranto suit had been mooted by the expiry of the broadcast firm's franchise.
Calida, in opposing ABS CBN's continued operation, claims that the firm illegally acquired smaller corporations that have legislative franchises over frequencies and used investment schemes to circumvent the constitutional restriction on foreign ownership of mass media entities.
ABS-CBN stopped its television and radio broadcasts on May 5 after the NTC issued a cease and desist order following the expiration of the network’s 25-year legislative franchise on May 4.
On June 30, the NTC issued another cease and desist order directing the media network to stop operating its digital television transmission using Amcara Broadcasting Corp.’s Channel 43.
The order affected programs aired on ABS-CBN’s TVPlus offerings, which include Cine Mo!, Yey!, DZMM Teleradyo, Jeepney TV, Asianovela Channel, and its pay-per-view channel KBO. (PNA)

Solon proposes to use ABS-CBN frequencies for distance learning
#PHnews: Solon proposes to use ABS-CBN frequencies for distance learning
MANILA – A lawmaker has proposed the temporary use by the government of ABS-CBN’s former television and radio frequencies for effective distance learning.
Deputy Speaker Luis Raymund Villafuerte filed on Tuesday House Resolution 1044, a copy of which was sent to the media on Wednesday.
Villafuerte said the unused frequencies can be tapped to deliver alternative distance learning modes to keep students engaged.
He also recommended that the frequencies may be used to disseminate information on coronavirus disease (Covid-19) prevention, control, risk reduction, and preparedness.
He cited a World Bank report stating that the Covid-19 pandemic is causing more than 1.6 billion children and youth to be out of school in 161 countries or around 80 percent of the students in the world.
He noted that the Philippines is among the countries experiencing a learning crisis due to the pandemic.
“Inequality and inaccessibility of opportunities such as those pertaining to internet connectivity and possession of a laptop pose a variety of challenges for teachers and learners,” Villafuerte said.
“Engaging our students require[s] going beyond exclusive reliance on online strategies. The reduction of losses in learning require[s] creativity in remote learning strategies,” he added.
Last Friday, the House Committee on Legislative Franchises approved by a 70-11 vote, with one abstention, the resolution denying the franchise application of ABS-CBN Corp. to construct, install, establish, operate, and maintain radio and broadcasting stations in the Philippines. Two other lawmakers inhibited from voting.
The previous House hearings have exhaustively discussed the network’s franchise issues, including the citizenship of ABS-CBN chair emeritus Gabby Lopez; the possible violation of the constitutional limits on foreign ownership; reported labor and tax violations; and other violations of the terms of its legislative franchise.
ABS-CBN stopped its television and radio broadcasts on May 5 after the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued a cease and desist order following the expiration of the network’s 25-year legislative franchise on May 4.
On June 30, the NTC issued another cease and desist order directing the media network to stop operating its digital television transmission using Amcara Broadcasting Corp.’s Channel 43.

SC resets deliberation on ABS-CBN petition to August
#PHnews: SC resets deliberation on ABS-CBN petition to August
MANILA – The Supreme Court (SC) has reset to next month the deliberation on the petition filed by ABS-CBN Corp. questioning the government's order to halt its broadcast operations.
In a media statement on Tuesday, SC spokesperson Brian Keith Hosaka said Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta has confirmed that the petition "will be called again for deliberation by the SC en banc on August 4."
In a 70-11 vote on July 10, the House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Franchises denied the application for a legislative franchise of the Lopez-owned broadcast network.
Previous House hearings have exhaustively discussed the network’s franchise issues, including the citizenship of ABS-CBN chair emeritus Gabby Lopez; the possible violation of the constitutional limits on foreign ownership; reported labor and tax violations; and other violations on the terms of its legislative franchise.
Last June, the SC dismissed a petition filed by Solicitor General Jose Calida in February, which had sought to terminate the franchise of the firm after the court ruled that his quo warranto suit had been mooted by the expiry of the broadcast firm's franchise last May.

Palace distances from NTC’s halt order vs. ABS-CBN programs
#PHnews: Palace distances from NTC’s halt order vs. ABS-CBN programs
MANILA – Malacañang on Wednesday distanced itself from the latest move of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to issue two cease and desist orders stopping ABS-CBN Corp.’s digital broadcast on TVPlus in Metro Manila and Sky’s satellite broadcast nationwide.
“As far as the Malacañang’s position is concerned, we refer to the actions of the NTC because it is the administrative agency specifically created by law to deal with these matters,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a television interview. His statement came after NTC issued cease and desist orders directing ABS-CBN to stop its broadcasts of its TVPlus channels and the services of Sky Cable Corp. Roque said the executive branch could not question NTC’s latest directives. He added that only competent courts can review the decisions issued by NTC. “I’m not too familiar with the issues raised by the NTC because as I have repeatedly said, NTC is a quasi-judicial body. We do not have power of appellate review over decisions of NTC and its decisions are appealable only to the courts,” Roque said. The NTC issued a cease and desist order on June 30, ordering ABS-CBN to stop operating its digital television transmission using Amcara Broadcasting Corp.’s Channel 43. The order would affect programs aired on ABS-CBN’s TVPlus offerings, which include Cine Mo!, Yey!, DZMM Teleradyo, Jeepney TV, Asianovela Channel, and its pay-per-view channel KBO. ABS-CBN stopped its television and radio broadcasts on May 5 after NTC issued a cease and desist order following the expiration of the network’s 25-year legislative franchise on May 4. It later resumed some of its shows on TVPlus through blocktime using Channel 43. The NTC, in a separate cease and desist order also dated June 30, also directed ABS-CBN’s cable firm, Sky Cable Corp., to halt its direct-to-home satellite transmission that would affect households with Sky Direct satellite dishes. The NTC said Sky Cable Corp. “no longer has a valid subsisting congressional franchise to install, operate, or maintain a Direct Broadcast Service satellite” because it also expired on May 4. Roque said the Palace would only rely on the provision of the 1987 Constitution which allows the operations of broadcast firms with valid congressional franchise. “We can only respect the provision of the Constitution that broadcast companies can only operate with a valid franchise issued by Congress,” he said. ABS-CBN on May 7 asked the Supreme Court to stop NTC’s May 5 halt order but justices have yet to issue a decision on the petition. (PNA)

KRD UTRun: ABS-CBN TVPlus (PART 1: Unboxing & Instructions)
(UTRun is a new feature on KRD which will combine Unboxing and Test Run into a particular article, featuring a technology gadget which will test and present results after a series of unboxing & test runs.)
Tumblr media
This new decade, KRD will have a first ever corner as we will turn our 1st decade 11 months from now. I'll be tackling about ABS-CBN TVPlus, the DTV blackbox that is now sold more than 8 million units in homes, and other places.
BACKGROUND
In February 2015, ABS-CBN Corporation launched its Digital Terrestrial Television service and formally introduces its DTV broadcast using the ISDB-T technology originated from Japan, and 2 years later, the NTC (National Telecommunications Commission) officially launched the DTV broadcast service at the DTV Summit after the Philippines officially adopts the ISDB-T standard in December 2014.
Previously known as Sky TV+ and has become a prize for its outside location segment for DZMM’s Failon Ngayon, ABS-CBN TVPlus (Mahiwagang Blackbox) was introduced to the market at P2,499 and in the succeeding years, it lowered the retail price twice until the current price stands at P1,499. During its early years, it had an ABS-CBNmobile sim included in the package for the freemium/exclusive channel activation (and it became available to all subscribers upon discontinuation of ABS-CBNmobile service in order to activate exclusive channels). The DTV service has ABS-CBN (the main channel for news, entertainment, and more) and S+A (features all-sports programming) plus exclusives on the TVPlus blackbox such as CineMo! (a Filipino movie channel targeting the male audience), Yey! (a Kids specialty channel), DZMM Teleradyo (a 24/7 News & Infotainment channel complementing DZMM programming as well as shows that are exclusive on the channel during non-simulcast period), and Knowledge Channel (an Educational broadcast service which turned 20 years old last November 2019). A year later (2016), it launched its own low-budget prepaid Pay-Per-View service for Non-Cable households called Kapamilya Box Office (KBO), which is initially became exclusive for ABS-CBNmobile subscribers, and it eventually became available to all mobile networks 2 years later prior to ABS-CBNmobile's closure of operations. ABS-CBN TVPlus has expanded its coverage in different provinces across the country.
The blackbox not only features its 2 main channels and 4 exclusive channels, the device can also receive FTA channels on DTV broadcast. By 2018, it launched its Free Trial service for additional channels in selected areas (NCR, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Metro Cebu, and Cagayan De Oro) including: O Shopping (The Philippines' No. 1 Shopping Channel), Asianovela Channel (featuring the best Asian dramas and movies dubbed in Tagalog), Movie Central (a dedicated FTA channel for Hollywood movies, which is almost the same format as the old CTV-31 back in the day), Jeepney TV (featuring archived and previously-aired shows and series from ABS-CBN as well as catch-up episodes for select programs such as Magandang Buhay, It's Showtime, and ASAP Natin 'To!), and MYX (The No. 1 Music Channel in the Philippines).
UNBOXING & INSTALLATION

(NOTE: The EIC only chooses products from legitimate sellers in online stores like Lazada and Shopee, especially in the stores' Mall section which sells original and genuine products with guaranteed warranty and returns.
