Blog about our previous interview
A diverse community of Central Mindanao University, we embarked on a journey to understand the challenges faced by its dedicated student body. Through interviews and conversations during the 113th Foundation Day celebrations ,with a diverse cross-section of students, it quickly became evident that they shared a common set of concerns that profoundly impacted their daily lives. Among these challenges, transportation emerged as a pressing issue that cast a shadow over their educational pursuits.
The students we spoke with from various backgrounds and academic disciplines, yet their experiences were interconnected by the recurring theme of inadequate transportation infrastructure. Whether residing on or off-campus, a significant portion of the student population found themselves grappling with the daunting task of commuting to and from the university. Insufficient public transportation left many students to have erratic schedules and lengthy wait times, often jeopardizing their punctuality and attendance. However, transportation was not the sole concern plaguing the Central Mindanao University community. The lack of proper trash disposal facilities and the recurring issue of floods also featured prominently in our discussions. These issues, while distinct in nature, painted a broader picture of the collective challenges faced by students in their pursuit of academic excellence and a sustainable campus environment.
In the following exploration of these issues, we the group 2 decided to focus on transportation since most of the students complained about it. In addition of that, our group thought of possible solution that includes the following; renting a bike wherein the students can borrow a bike and pick it up at specific locations depending on their needs. Furthermore, the rent-a- bike idea must be affordable for every student, it would be per hour, enable for the start up to generate income for the betterment of the new transportation system ✨
Well, from our previous interviews of the students, it taught us valuable lessons about resilience and adaptability of Central Mindanao University. Despite the odds stacked against them, these students we interviewed exhibited an unwavering commitment to their education❤️❤️

Nestled within the vast natural beauty and diversity lies Central Mindanao University, where nature's beauty converges with academic exploration where students embark on intellectual journeys. However, one major challenge stands out among the students: TRANSPORTATION. During the 113th Foundation Day celebrations, interviews with students from diverse backgrounds revealed that inadequate transportation was a prominent concern. Whether on or off-campus, many faced difficulties with insufficient public transportation, leading to delays, inefficiencies, and safety concerns. These challenges ignited our determination to find a solution.
Based on these insights, we formulated the hypothesis that a tailored Rent-a-Bike service, accessible through a user-friendly app, could offer reliable on-campus transportation at competitive rates. This hypothesis became the cornerstone of our business proposal, in harmony with our commitment to sustainability.
As we reflected on our experiences, we gleaned the significance of open dialogue and equal participation within CMU's diverse community. Through collaborative efforts, we reached the decision to launch the rent-a-bike service.

Blog #1: Pedal Power: Solving CMU's Transportation Woes with a Rent-a-Bike Startup

Our journey to tackle the transportation challenges faced by CMU students began with a deep dive into their experiences. During the university's 113th Foundation Day celebrations, we had the opportunity to speak with 13 biology students, and their shared grievances were crystal clear: inadequate transportation options were causing delays, inefficiencies, and even safety concerns. These compelling narratives fueled our determination to seek a solution.
Armed with these valuable insights, we formulated a hypothesis: A Rent-a-Bike service customized to meet CMU's unique requirements could be the remedy. Such a service, accessible through a user-friendly app, could provide a dependable mode of on-campus transportation at competitive rates. This hypothesis served as the cornerstone of our venture proposal, aligning with our commitment to sustainability.
Reflecting on our team's experiences from the past week, I've learned the importance of voicing concerns and fostering open dialogue to ensure every member has an equal opportunity to contribute their talents. It was through this collaborative process that we made the pivotal decision to launch a rent-a-bike service.
In conclusion, after careful consideration and collaborative deliberation, we have chosen the rent-a-bike service as our solution to CMU's transportation challenges. This decision aligns with our vision of providing a sustainable and efficient mode of transportation for the CMU community.

Blog #4: Rising from the Start: An Entrepreneur's Journey
---
Embarking on the entrepreneurial journey, starting a business from scratch, is akin to navigating uncharted waters. Each step holds valuable lessons, both in success and failure, shaping the trajectory of the startup. Here, I share insights gleaned from my own startup journey.
My entrepreneurial journey mirrors navigating uncharted waters, where every step moulds the startup's trajectory. It all started with a spark—an idea to solve transportation issues at Central Mindanao University with a rent-a-bike startup. Research and planning laid the groundwork, but setbacks taught invaluable lessons. Then came "WaxCraft," an eco-friendly floor wax made from banana peels and citronella, tackling school environmental and health concerns.Juggling academic responsibilities amidst the entrepreneurial hustle was challenging, but our resilience shone through. We honed our innovative product, "Musaquito Banish Wax," proving its efficacy against floor issues and mosquitoes.

Our pitch deck underwent meticulous revisions, refining it with precise structural cost estimates that laid the foundation for our ambitious venture. Miriam's reunion with her former high school classmate, now a seasoned 3rd-year business administration student, became the gateway for us to delve into the intricacies of structural costs essential for our final pitch Thus, a pivotal moment occurred during our final meeting on Wednesday, where the focus shifted to refining the accurate estimated structural cost.

The climax of our journey arrived on the day of the final pitch, a day marked by mere hours of sleep following a rigorous morning practical exam. The pitch was led by Chelsea and Renzon, where we navigated through inquiries from an unidentified panel member, showcasing our meticulously crafted cost breakdown to their satisfaction. As the clock ticked and more questions loomed on the horizon, the constraints of time and an impending exam compelled us to hasten to our next subject. In the midst of fatigue, the congratulations from Ma'am Lovely resonated, and we embraced the celebration of our hard-earned success.

As the sun sets on this chapter of my entrepreneurial journey, I find myself reflecting on the invaluable lessons learned. Every twist and turn, success and setback, has not only shaped my business but has also molded a mindset resilient to the ever-changing landscape of entrepreneurship. In the tapestry of startup life, failure stitches the seams of success. Embracing setbacks carves paths to unforeseen opportunities. Staying agile, ready to pivot when needed, and letting curiosity guide the way has been my compass.

To my incredible team, I extend my deepest gratitude. Your unwavering dedication, innovative spirit, and collaborative mindset have been the cornerstone of our triumphs. It's through our collective efforts that we've turned challenges into opportunities and dreams into realities. Together, we weathered challenges, celebrated victories, and upheld a spirit of collaboration that defined our success.
Onward and upward!

Blog #3: Pioneering Progress: A Two-Week Entrepreneurial Quest of Concept to Creation and Unveiling Entrepreneurial Insights
---
Over the past few weeks , my team and I embarked on an invigorating journey aimed at elevating our product to new heights. Our adventure commenced with a pivotal group meeting centred around crafting a concise, impactful three-minute video. A diverse ensemble, including actors, a camera operator, a scriptwriter, a props maker, and an editor, collaborated to bring our vision to life. During the brainstorming, taping, and editing, our team encountered some hurdles and distractions. However, we continued with determination and created a lively three-minute promotional video, starring Leo's and Charity's charming antics. But we didn't stop there – we condensed it into an engaging 30-second ad.

Beyond the realms of our "creative studio," we virtually attended a riveting Zoom talk series. Dr. Gamaliela A. Dumancas delved into the nuances of "Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Transfer," emphasizing the significance of trademark patents and discussing the protective aspects of intellectual property law. She illuminated the scope of original ideas and patents covered within these laws and detailed the enduring rights to copyright. Ending her insightful discourse with modes of technology transfer, she showcased several technologies commercialized by CMU, still relevant today.

The second speaker, Alice Therese L. Caballeda emphasized the importance of a thriving "Start-up Ecosystem." Her elucidation on the support, mentorship, networking, and trend-awareness within such ecosystems laid the foundation for sustainable startup success. Acknowledging the common plight of startups facing the "valley of death," she highlighted various local government and non-governmental organizations offering critical support structures.

The final speaker, Doreen Elsie Jane Gersava, shared her poignant journey with "Virtualahan," a startup designed to empower individuals with disabilities. Through this virtual platform, they facilitated skill-building and job matching, resulting in meaningful employment for 127 beneficiaries and an inspiring 74% employment rate. Their story served as a beacon of hope, demonstrating the transformative power of turning disabilities into abilities.

Amidst absorbing these enriching insights, our entrepreneurial journey faced the hustle of academic responsibilities. Despite these demands, our team convened to enhance our revolutionary product, "Musaquito Banish Wax." In a whirlwind effort, we produced a compelling an approximate of two-minute video showcasing the product's efficacy against dull floors and mosquito proliferation. This organic wax, crafted from banana peels infused with citronella oil, not only champions environmental consciousness but also ensures safety against dengue, especially for young students.
Our upcoming milestone on December 1st involves pitching our product for screening before potential investors at an expo. Stay tuned to my blog for the latest updates as we strive to revolutionize waste reduction, instil confidence, and combat the looming threat of the dengue virus.

Blog 2: Rejection to Revolution: The Eco-friendly WaxCraft Venture
Entrepreneurship is often a tough road, filled with rejections. Initially we came up with a rent-a-bike concept; however, the business proposal, filled with solutions and potential, only to encounter the harsh, unforgiving truth of rejection. We received feedback that while the idea of assisting students with transportation needs was commendable, it was considered unoriginal. Numerous other students and proposals had already put forth similar concepts, rendering it a common idea. However, in the midst of this daunting setback, we didn't waver; instead, they turned rejection into a driving force for development.
Our team gathered and initiated a brainstorming session to identify other challenges currently experienced by today's students. It was during this process that we recognized a prevalent issue in public elementary school classrooms – the absence of tiled floors, leading students to utilize floorwax for polishing. This realization sparked our creativity, leading us to conceive the innovative concept of "WaxCraft."

As Plant Biology students we aim to make a solution to a problem where we will be able to use our knowledge and potential to contribute to the sustainability of our lives while protecting our environment. In a world where many commercial waxes are laden with harmful chemicals, WaxCraft emerges as a gentler, more environmentally friendly solution. "WaxCraft," is an eco-friendly floor wax made from banana peels is primarily composed of recycled and organic components, our group then decided to make it more innovative by adding citronella extract for it could contribute to alleviating the issue of mosquitoes, which is a pressing concern in many elementary schools. With this idea we were able to address both environmental and health concerns in elementary schools.

This resilience in the face of rejection exemplifies our entrepreneurial spirit, as we seek to make a positive impact on our community and look forward to future success. We transformed our setbacks into stepping stones for development. The rejection that initially marked our path was just one phase in our ongoing process of innovation and expansion. Our relentless pursuit of change has given rise to a new venture, one that offers solutions to real-world problems. As we strive for success, our story serves as an inspiring testament to the unwavering spirit of entrepreneurship, and I eagerly anticipate our next chapter.
