After reading this post from @recentadultburnout I went and watched Dang Bireley's and Young Gangsters.

So I thought I would make a post about Noey's obsession with 50's style

In the very beginning we see Noey playing a record player like in the movie. I couldn't get the right angles but at some shots Noey's room is quite like Dang's room (I could be wrong)

There's a DVD of the movie also the poster of the movie hangs beside the mirror. A nice tribute to the movie.

From following Dang's hairstyle to having a gang. Noey seems a lot like Dang on the surface.

But how did this come about!

This is Dang played by Tik Jesdaporn Pholdee a teenage gangster in the 50's. He didn't grow up with the best of circumstances. In the movie he followed the style of his idols like James dean, Elvis Presley. Though he did not meet a good ending, this movie was a major hit when it came out in the late 90's

Which leads me here to these photos. You can see Noey's father is wearing everything Dang wore in the movie. Including the little locket around his neck. You can even see little Noey dressed like his dad. So originally it was always Noey's father who was the fan and Noey followed his father.

Fast forward to the present, the conversation between Noey and Tim makes it pretty obvious that Noey's father passed away. We don't know how he died and I don't think we will. And we don't need to.

If Noey's father was still alive Noey would probably have grown out of that style. But now this is Noey's way of remembering his dad. It's a nice nod to how parents have a profound effect on children's lives even when they are gone.

However in the midst of this political crisis, love quietly blossomed. While pride, prejudice, profit, politics played significant roles in this world, it would seem Darshika of Bandurath was the only one who could bring peace to the region.
