I haven't read animorphs in ages but sometimes I still think about Elfangor and feel a lot all at once.
#animorphs#Tobias grows up with family members who resent him and feeling so isolated and lonely#when in reality his father DID want to be there for him but had to leave because the fate of everyone else was in the balance#ax spends a while talking about Elfangor as his older brother who's a war hero that he looks up to#and then you learn Elfangor was deeply affected by the things he saw and wanted nothing more than to leave#and just live a normal life as a human on earth with his wife and son#the opening scene of animorphs where he gives the kids morph powers and then dies almost immediately after#where it's the first time he's seen his son#and he's giving him and the others this power because it might just save them and everyone else#but he also knows he's going to subject his son to the same traumatic war that he experienced#MAN#the character of all time#also there's a scene in the andalite chronicles where applegate makes it canon that he came up with the idea for windows and apple#and i think that's very funny
