I'm in the mood for beloved horrible men doing horrible things and I've been thinking, could you elaborate on what you said about how Impactor is not someone who would rape for pleasure but he WOULD as a means of control?

Everyone point and laught at Barbie for having the bad taste to like my favourite character.

I'M SURPRISED THAT IT'S NOT A MORE POPULAR READ TBH. Like why does this fandom want this fuck to have such things as A Good Time and Ability To Enjoy Himself. Impactor is so shameless, so cruel, and he doesn't even have the temerity to enjoy himself, he's not even a sadist, he's just a joyless causer of misery and a plague on the lives of everyone he meets.

I think for me what it comes down to is that rape is about power, ultimately. Sexually violent characters who I could see doing it for the pleasure are ultimately also doing it because they're reveling in the power to extract that pleasure from someone else. But Impactor is just so joyless and miserable when he isn't riding an adrenaline high... that's just not him, to me. It doesn't parse, I don't think he really cares that he has power and authority to wield over other people. He treats the Wreckers with the same instrumentality he treats himself with.

So sexual violence would be no different as a tool of violence than, say, kicking someone's shit in. It's just as violent and painful as a beating, and just as humiliating and violating as torture. It would be a very useful tool to be able to pull out to threaten people with just for those qualities, and I think that's where utility for Impactor would be. Because the other aspect of it is the intimacy -- but that's not a game Impactor is willing to play, just based on the fact that he regularly gets mad at his friends for knowing how he feels.

Impactor might not be a literal walking corpse in IDW'05 but in spirit, I think that's what he is. It's all ash, to him, there's nothing worth selfishly chasing or trying to possess or achieve that could really mean anything. Nothing short of literally fighting for his life does it for him, so the usual narratives about other people existing to please him creating entitlement just don't make sense to me.

The point where someone can no longer threaten his life is, I think, the point he loses all reason to interact with them, unless having power over that person will somehow bring him closer to a new fight with someone who could actually kill him. The point of fear tactics is to find the people whose fight-or-flight is biased towards fight, and to be hated. But I don't think any kind of dominance over any specific individual just does anything for Impactor, because almost nothing does anything for him, anymore.

One of the minorly distracting things in the IDW Transformers comics(the 05 continuity, not the 2019 reboot) is that on occasions, the robot’s designs will change. For instance, Starscream goes from his G1 look to the look he had in the High Moon studio games to his Armada look and then finally what I can best call a “modernized” version of his G1 look(wouldn’t look out of place in Rise of the Beast or RiD2015 tbh). Now I know Starscream canonically gets his chassis changed in universe a couple times, but what’s everybody else’s excuse?

Pfft like I actually care. I just think it’s funny. Especially when they made the switch to the video game designs because the only ones who got the treatment were the ones who were in the games or at least got art for it, which created a bit of a clash since everyone else just had their comic designs(I.e. look at Starscream next to Metalhawk)

Distracting yeah but funnily so.

I’m a little late in sending this in due to some issues with tumblr (the app decided that your blog didn’t exist at all for some reason) but I just wanted to send in a big, heartfelt thank you for entertaining the matchup request I sent in!! I was seriously blown away by the details and effort you put in and your timing was impeccable as it really cheered me up after a rough day at work :,) You put so much thought into everything and I can’t help but wish to see how you’d tackle a matchup with a male bot for me too, if you would at all be willing to indulge me?

I was really surprised that I got paired up with Velocity and all the scenarios were so cute and wholesome that I couldn’t help rereading them again and again- I loved the way you characterised her and I’ll definitely treasure your post forever. Not to mention, it was my first time requesting a matchup anywhere so I was kind of shocked when I got the notification for it 💀 Thank you so much for putting in the time despite being busy and for this blog in general. Your writing really does lift my spirits!

My rambling aside, I was wondering about your opinion on fan gifts and if you’d like a piece of transformers related art? It could be an OC, a favourite bot or even just your persona if you’ve got one, anything at all. 01| Rung is inherently a creative nurturer with this drive to help others. That is why he's the best mech to go to whenever you have trouble expressing your feelings. Rung is patient and encouraging, giving you this safe space that allows you to vent and understand your emotions. He's more than happy to take the first step forward for you. Whenever you isolate yourself, Rung would come looking for you, offering you his help. His concern for you extends professional barriers as he regards you as someone special to him. This sense of comfort and trust was one of the many reasons why your friendship eventually turned romantic.

02| He admires your love for philosophy. Rung is also one for literature and art, so conversation was easy between the two of you. You'll often visit him in his office to spend time together and it warms his heart to know that you approach him for company ( a lot of people only tend to go to him when they want something, so it was a nice change of pace.) You'll be reading to him your latest poem while he assembles his miniature boats. You like how versatile Rung was: beautifully handling topics that most people can't usually stomach. 04| Speaking of shore leave, Rung would always take you to the local market to explore the foreign planet's culture. He makes sure to always keep an eye on you because he knows you like to wander around. To avoid being separated, Rung would insist on linking your arms together. Or when he does not have his mass displaced, Rung would carry you away from the commotion. Smiling at you in his arms ( he likes how you make him feel strong, although he's too shy to say it aloud.)

05| Arguments between you and Rung were almost nonexistent. As natural peacemakers, both of you loathe conflict. Yet, when problems arise, Rung isn't the type to shy away from them. Your perfectionism paired with Rung's sensitivity towards criticism may lead to a few disagreements. But it's nothing you both can't handle, especially when no one is better than Rung in finding a win-win solution.

06| Spending time with you is something Rung looks forward to. He loves watching you do art and is supportive of your passions, knowing you'll do great things in the future. Although Rung prefers your taste in historical fiction and comedy, he would sit through horror movies for you every once in a while. Rung has a difficult time accepting the love he deserves. So I try not to make these rambles too powered by salt but considering Impactor is very near my favourite character in the franchise and as a result I read a lot of badfic featuring him out of sheer desperation for something, I'm seriously devastated by the way I've never seen it explored just what a harrowing and accurate description of moral injury and reflexive self-loathing he is.

Like, it's wild to me that we have it in the text, actually on page, that Impactor outright thinks he's a monster. We see it on page! It is written with plain words! He's stuck thinking like "can't survive if the other guy doesn't die", "your life is bought with the blood you spill, and you want to keep living so you best learn to like killing" to the point where he doesn't even want to live anymore and yet he can't stop, he's stuck, there's no safety for him to retreat back to because nobody taught him to value himself in any other way except in balance against someone else.

Like we know. Exactly what Impactor considers horrible, what he considers ugly and unseemly and corrupt. And it's all stuff that makes sense. It's all stuff the most of us probably find a little bit horrifying. We know that his perception of the world is so utterly bleak that there is no way but down, the only trajectory he sees for himself is to slip further and further from that surface because this is just his life now, this is what he is now, this may be what he always was, so isolated in his self-loathing that he can barely see the surface of where the horrible things end, and sure as hell doesn't think he can reach it. He's been cut off from his access to the sublime, to the fortifying, to the beautiful and wonderful and safe, this is all he has left, this is just what he is now.

I think the massive overriding misreading is assuming Impactor has any regard for himself. He may have the ability to act confident and move through the world with intellectual assurance over his own skill, and it's easy to take that as a sign that he has some kind of a core, undivided wholeness of personhood that lets him keep acting like he knows what he's doing. But I don't think that's it at all. His sense of self has been so completely fractured and damaged by the horrors he's committed and been isolated with that they've attached themselves to the space where his sense of self would otherwise be. Again, I'm not even extrapolating -- this just is the text of "Escape".

And then there's the negative influence of Guzzle, another person who thinks the way to deal with your trauma is by committing massive violence on it who has no idea this should maybe be something to discuss with people -- like, we see the way his abandon and reveling in having power and returning the violence drags Impactor down, too, because it's familiar, it makes sense, and then Impactor locks him in a box and goes "I can't fucking do this anymore". It's literally the most unsubtle death wish, it's a textbook flight arrest response, he doesn't want to keep doing the thing he's doing but he doesn't know what else there is, he sees no way out other than down.

And IDK I don't want to cast blame, honestly as a recovering abusive asshole myself, the terrible things he does to other people out of a sense of "this is how it has to be, don't be naive, don't be stupid", the loop of self-justification and grasping for value in his identity as an anonymous source of violence and ruiner of lives is a big part of why I love him so much, and his victims are really visible in the text, their mess deserves exploration and their pain deserves narrative validation, if only for completeness' sake

but like goddamn I just feel for this trash mech so much. He was left locked up with only his own bad thoughts for company, forced in a situation where becoming a worse person was the only way to escape further pain to the point where he's just completely cut off from his access to the sublime, to the fortifying, to the beautiful and wonderful and safe. Like where is there to go when the only things you know what to do are all fucked up? What do you do when all you've been "taught" is that living means killing, but you're getting extremely sick of the killing, when you're tired of your whole life being stained in blood and gore and the traces of the grotesquerie that is living with the knowledge that having power over other people is the ultimate act of survival when you never wanted that?

I’m just flashing back to other Transformers shows and remember in two separate shows had Megatron use his spark energy to corrupt others.

He did it to the stasis pods in RiD 2001 to get the Scourge and the Decepticons.

Again in Energon. God, that scene...

And now I crave it for TFA!

Could even be an accident! Like when Megatron had the AllSpark and when Optimus got blasted by it. A small bit of the spark energy could hve remain behind and over time, just over takens Optimus.

Like Optimus wouldn’t have noticed it but just over time, his personality and actions start to change. More aggressive and such.

Even the rest of the team wouldn't be able to ignore it forever over this new Optimus.

Hell! Maybe Megatron feels something in his spark. Nothing at first but over time, he can feel a pull.

And realize this pull is drawing him to Optimus. This really catches his interest and Megatron has to find out why.

Might have to come back to this one.

Random Idea while I avoid sleep: PreWar MegOp with Orion Pax as an high end courtesan. Could have patrons with the likes of senators and others of the high caste but still work in research or something. He would be some type of Renaissance courtesans.

But Megatron doesn't know that cause he first meets Orion at like of the Archival or some neutral area. He just see Orion as a quite lovely mech with a brain.

Or something else....need to work on it

Random thought for: Cellmate AU

I really want to do more for this AU. Like I really enjoyed during MegOp week and have so many more ideas for it.

Like thinking about like an Epilogue with Optimus has he tries to comes to understand everything now.

The poor mech has regain all his old memories but still remembers the time he spend with Megatron and the Decepticons as Orion. It causes him such mix feelings cause Optimus knows he should hate Megatron for what he had done, and part of him does. Still, Optimus has to wonder if all of his time with the warlord was nothing but lies, that Megatron was playing around with him.

Optimus still can't help but still have feelings for him. His time as Orion, there was so many moments that Megatron was sweet and kind to him, that it felt that the Decepticon really cared for him. He could still picture the hurt on his face when Optimus said his real name and stood against him.

Than there are Optimus' feelings on the whole Autobot/Decepticon war which makes him even more confused. He knows now that the Autobots aren't the good guys that they make themselves out to be.

Both sides have their faults and Optimus find himself actually even tore in thinking was Megatron really right. That maybe he shouldn't have fought against him back at the mine and just let him continue with the plan.

Than there is his old team and friends trying to get the old Optimus back but only a few of them realize that the bot they knew isn't really around anymore. Than there is human relations too cause seriously Optimus did some times attack the city so they wouldn't trust him too much.

All so want to bring the Jet Twins into this cause I just want their reactions to Optimus. With his new larger frame and a flight mode, they would so be curious as heck.

Sentinel doesn't like it though. Makes him nervous how Optimus is now like twice his size.

Also wanted to do like a naughty separate piece with Orion and Megatron, hohohoho cause that happen if you all were wondering.

It happened.

but I want to finish up other chapters first before I get himself into something else. I want to finish Shuffling the Playlist first.

random thought before sleep

I feel like that Heatwave would have sided with the Cons if he was given the chance at the start of war. Not sure how long he would stick with them with how trigger happy they become later on so he might switch to the Autobots but who knows with how mechs change with war. But at the core, Heatwave could get behind getting rid of the caste system and such.

just get a feeling that being a rescue bot wasn't Heatwave's first choice of careers.

maybe just like the idea of Heatwave use to admire Megatron and what he had initial stood for.
