TFN Declassified - Entry 03: Location, Location, Location
https://bit.ly/2MWKzWqWe know that many people are travelling for a long while and a long distance to attend TFNation 2018, and some are even attending the UK for the first time - so for ease of mind and stress, we are sharing once more this short guide to help make that journey just a little less worrying. TFNation 2018 is being held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel. This is located next to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham. The NEC has strong transport links via Birmingham International Train Station and Birmingham International Airport, which are both linked by one convenient hub. Depending on how you're travelling, the following sections below will assist you in reaching Birmingham International/NEC – from there, you are just a short walk / taxi ride away from the hotel!
1) By Air
Birmingham international airport receives flights and flight connections from many major cities across the world. Once you reach arrivals, go up the escalators. At the top of these you will see the entrance to a Monorail. This is important as it is your gateway to the convention.
The free monorail runs every 10 mins from 5:00am to 2:00am. The journey itself only takes a couple of minutes and it will drop you off safely at Birmingham International train station. You do not need to book or board a train from here: during daytime hours, you can simply walk across the overpass that runs between the train station and the NEC. All you have to do once here is follow the signs to the Hilton.
Please Note – The overpass closes at night. It normally closes at 1:00am but has been known to close earlier. If this happens you can either get a taxi from the train station (approx. £8.00 at time of writing) or hope on a free shuttle bus to the hotel – look out for the Subway fast food restaurant: next to it, is a free yellow phone that will connect you to the Hilton. Give them a call and they will tell you when the next shuttle is due. 2) By Rail
Birmingham International is part of the national rail network and can be reached from most locations. If your journey requires you to change at Birmingham New Street, fear not: there are regular services between New Street and International. Once you arrive at the station just head for the overpass, and follow the indications from the previous section. Trains from New Street to International
Thursday 16th: First train 05:29 Last train 23:54 Friday 17th: First train 05:29 Last train 23:54 Saturday 18th: First train 05:50 Last train 23:14 Sunday 19th: First train 08:30 Last train 23:14 Monday 20th: First train 05:29 Last train 23:54
Trains from International to New Street Thursday 16th: First train 06:05 Last train 01:30 (fri) Friday 17th: First train 06:05 Last train 01:29 (sat) Saturday 18th: First train 06:18 Last train 23:49 Sunday 19th: First train 08:30 Last train 00:09 (mon) Monday 20th: First train 06:05 Last train 01:24 (tues)
Please note: UK trains can get quite expensive the closer you purchase your tickets to your travel date. We recommend planning rail travels in advance for both peace of mind and of budget.
3) By Coach
Birmingham coach station is located in Mill Lane, postcode B56DD. It is approximately a 15mins walk from there to Birmingham New Street (via the B4100 until you reach the Bullring, then follow signs for New Street) though we would suggest attendees use a taxi as the journey is mostly uphill. Once at New Street station, follow the indications as explained in the section above.
4) By Car
The Hilton is approximately 200 yards from Junction 6 of the M42. For SatNav users, the NEC postcode is B40 1NT. Road users will be able to reach the Hilton without going via the NEC. The hotel includes an award-winning 700 space "Safe Park" car park, but should spaces fill quickly, the NEC has thousands of parking spaces. Up to date pricing can be found on their website. Alternative accommodation Many guests and attendees have been lucky enough to secure a room at the Hilton for part of or all of TFNation; if you have been unable to do so, there are several other options nearby still available, which you can check out in the interactive map below. https://bit.ly/2MWKzWq To reach the Hilton and TFNation from any of these locations, either take a taxi directly to the venue, or follow the indications explained in the sections above. Transmission_Initiated Transmission ID: 00011TFNation_2018 Operation: A Handful of Voices The second voice actor that TFNation is proud to present for 2018 hails from the land of the early 2000s, and the series that some will argue is called Car Robots, when we all really know it as Robots in Disguise (2001) - please join us in welcoming the man behind Megatron, leader of the Predacons: Daniel Riordan! As well as voicing the purple leader Megatron, Daniel remained at the mic for the gold and white upgrade Galvatron, and is so far the only voice actor famous for lending his talents to a robot, jet, bat, two-headed dragon, giant flying hand, roadster, winged griffin, one-headed dragon, hydroplane, and an elephant, all while only really voicing the same character. In a fun twist, he also voiced Omega Prime, the combined form of Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus and leader of the Autobot side, opponent and eventual vanquisher of Galvatron in the final episode of the series. In other Transformers appearances you may recognise, Daniel was behind the 2007 videogame based on the Paramount live-action series, and specifically, the Decepticon characters of Bonecrusher and Shockwave. He has also been involved in several videogame franchises as secondary and additional character voices, with the likes of Final Fantasy XIII, Mass Effect III, Age of Empires III, Skyrim, and more. On screen, both big and small, he is well known for his roles in Dreamgirls, Jingle All The Way, The Adventures of Captain Zoom in Outer Space, and a brief presence in Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Wild Thornberrys. Daniel Riordan will be present all of the TFNation 2018 weekend, signing autographs, available for quick photo opportunities, and eager to meet fans of his work and of Transformers in general! If you want to ensure all communications are intercepted, join our mailing list at https://tfnation.com Further transmissions to follow. TFNationWhere All Are One Transmission_Terminated

Just when you thought it was safe to visit our guest page… https://bit.ly/2R4YWxA
We’re back! You may be wondering what updates we have for the next edition of Europe’s largest Transformers fan-convention, coming up this August in Birmingham – and we’re here to deliver, straight from the haiku-ridden shores of the State of New York: the man behind the shark, Peter Spellos, will be attending TFNation 2019!
Peter is best known in the Transformers fandom for his role in the 2001 Car Robots / Robots in Disguise animated series as the Predacon general Sky-Byte, fond of poetry and held dearly in the franchise. He is also extremely well received by the fan community as a facilitator of comedy, acting, and improvisation workshops, and has attended several conventions across the USA and Europe.
You may also recognise his voice acting skills from franchises such as Digimon, Gurren Lagann, Naruto, Bleach, Code Geass, Ghost in the Shell, Trigun, and Street Fighter II – and the man himself from screen appearances in TV series and movies the likes of In The Army Now, Men in Black II, The New Adventures Of Superman, Perry Mason, NYPD Blue, and A Nightmare On Elm Street VI, among many others.
Peter Spellos will be attending the convention all weekend.  He will also be taking centre stage for a certain special improvised… something more details on that soon!
We look forward to welcoming Peter and all of you to TFNation 2019, as more updates are released from here until August!

TFN Declassified: - Entry 14 Perchance to Dream TFNation 2016 is shaping up to be a fantastic event, with a mix of new attendees, features and guests, together with the best of convention staples. While most of these new elements have now been revealed, there is one we have yet to reveal, an experiment aiming to celebrate our love of Transformer stories in a unique way, which will hopefully spark all our imaginations!
A pet project of TFNation member Adam White, PERCHANCE TO DREAM invites attendees, in the late hours of Friday night, to hear a selection of Transformer stories, read aloud by members of the community. These stories, chosen from across 30yrs of the franchise, will cover everything from passages of 80’s children’s books to chapters from current wreckers-based text, and will be read in the range of styles that our guests bring to the evening. The speakers for this event will be as follows;
Adam Nicol With a voice familiar to many, Adam "Grufflock" Nicol has leant his vocals to countless podcasts and audio readings, not least of all his work through the Old Oil House podcast. Recently Adam has moved into more official projects, a testament to his hard work and dedication.
George Daniel Lea Author of the gripping, emotive horror compendium Strange Playgrounds and the upcoming collaborative project Born in Blood, George is also well-known for his eloquent social media posts and youtube discussions. We hope George will also give us a reading from one of his own stories, during the event.
Matt Clarke A central part of the TF community, Matt has been involved in numerous podcast teams, managing or guesting, over the last decade. In addition, he has provided work for fan-dub projects and his own timey2wimey youtube channel
Adam White A former member of the Underbase podcast, and TFNation  team member, Adam is grateful for the chance to host this first event and hopes this will be the catalyst for more to come.
We hope our attendees find the range of styles, and stories, refreshing, regardless of age or continuity, and serve as a low-key, but rewarding, end to our first convention day. This, and other events, are listed in our official schedule at https://tfnation.com/2016/blog/News/story/Operation:%20We%20have%20ignition!%20The%20TFNation%20Schedule
