As waters rise, territories shrink. That's what happened on Synnax, and that's what happened with Empire. Day by day, decade by decade, the First Foundation nibbled away planets from edges of Empire. And Empire steadily contracted.

I wonder how Yugo Amaryl felt, a dahlite heat-sinker elevated to work on the most profound issues of his contemporary period. To have met and become a cohort of Hari Seldon during his flight from Eto Demerzel. Dahlite.

Research totally counts as working on your fic, right? Anyway, here’s a quick visualization of ~ 250 sq km /100 sq miles.
Manhattan + Bronx
London
It’s pretty damn big.
And according to Prelude to Foundation, the Imperial Palace + Gardens occupy the same amount of space.
While Apple’s version is nice, it ain’t nearly big enough.

He sighed noisily, and realized finally that he was on Trantor at last; on the planet which was the centre of all the Galaxy and the kernel of the human race. He saw none of its weaknesses. He saw no ships of food landing. He was not aware of a jugular vein delicately connecting the forty billion of Trantor with the rest of the Galaxy. He was conscious only of the mightiest deed of man; the complete and almost contemptuously final conquest of a world.

So, one of the major inspirations for Coruscant (and the first version of the city-planet in sci-fi that I'm aware of) is the planet Trantor from Isaac Asimov's Foundation novels*. In one of the later books Asimov published, Prelude to Foundation, these exact sorts of cultural enclave become a major plot point.
If you don't know the books, a major element of the story is psychohistory, which is able to predict the future with a high degree of accuracy by extrapolating how human behaviour will effect political and social events to come. This science is invented by Hari Seldon, who is dead for most of the books, but tends to show up from time to time as a hologram. In Prelude, however, we see him as a young man, still trying to develop psychohistory.
Without going into the full plot of the book, Trantor ends up being the start of psychohistory. It turns out that a planet sized city has thousands of different ethnic and cultural groups, each explicitly shown to have their own enclave. Seldon makes a study of how these enclaves interact with each other, as well as the wider government of the Empire (different Empire than Palpatine's vanity project), and then treats that as a microcosm of the galaxy as a whole.
The reason I bring all this is up is that, given how heavily influenced Coruscant is by Trantor, I think it makes sense for Coruscant to have similar enclaves, and probably in similar numbers. In fact, they may even have people making similar studies of the different enclaves' interactions in order to better understand the disparate peoples of the Republic, and help maintain unity. I specify the Republic because this feels like the kind of thing the Empire would not care about, maintaining power through fear as they do. Tarkin Doctrine and all that.
I think Star Wars is a marvelously detailed fictional universe, but even the most detailed fiction can't cover everything. Where canon does not provide information, therefore, why not build a headcanon out of the inspirations?
* I assume all this is true of the current Apple TV series as well, but I havent seen it, so don't feel I can speak to it.
Coruscant has GOT to have different places like Ryl Town or Little Shilli or Space Harlem/Space SoHo and all that. Like they’re probably massive and stuff due to the size and population density of the planet but it’s still the same concept. Pockets of certain demographics or developing cultures…
#Star Wars#Foundation#Coruscant#Trantor#It turns out that ADHD combined with a lifetime of reading decades old books can lead to a lot of connections in my head#I was also tempted to bring up Dune but it doesn't have any prominantly featured city-planets that feel comparable

Top 5 Challenges in Salesforce Adoption & How Expert Consulting Solves Them
Salesforce is one of the most powerful Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms available, helping businesses streamline operations, improve customer interactions, and drive revenue growth. However, adopting Salesforce isn’t always smooth sailing. Many businesses face challenges that hinder full adoption, reducing their return on investment (ROI) and causing inefficiencies.
Without the right strategy and expertise, companies struggle with low user adoption, poor data quality, ineffective customization, and integration issues—ultimately leading to wasted resources. This is where Salesforce consulting services play a crucial role.
In this blog, we’ll discuss the top five challenges businesses face in Salesforce adoption and how expert Salesforce consulting—like the services offered by Trantor—helps overcome them.
Challenge #1: Low User Adoption & Resistance to Change
Why It’s a Problem
One of the most common reasons Salesforce implementations fail is low user adoption. Employees are often reluctant to switch from their existing processes to a new system, leading to:
❌ Poor engagement with Salesforce ❌ Underutilization of features and automation ❌ Increased manual work due to lack of familiarity
Many companies underestimate the importance of user training and change management, which results in employees viewing Salesforce as a burden rather than an asset.
How Expert Consulting Solves It
🔹 User-Centric Training: Consultants provide hands-on training tailored to different user roles. 🔹 Change Management Strategies: Ensuring employees understand why the transition is happening and how it benefits them. 🔹 Customized Dashboards & Workflows: Making Salesforce intuitive and easy to use. 🔹 Continuous Support: Ongoing guidance to ensure users stay engaged with the platform.
🚀 With expert consulting, businesses can improve Salesforce adoption rates, making it an integral part of daily operations.
Challenge #2: Poor Data Quality & Management
Why It’s a Problem
Salesforce is only as effective as the quality of data it manages. Many businesses struggle with:
❌ Duplicate records and inconsistent data ❌ Missing or incomplete customer details ❌ Poor data hygiene leading to inaccurate reporting
Dirty data leads to incorrect analytics, poor decision-making, and frustrated teams.
How Expert Consulting Solves It
🔹 Data Cleansing & Deduplication: Removing inconsistencies and duplicate records. 🔹 Automated Data Validation Rules: Ensuring accurate and standardized data entry. 🔹 Integration with External Systems: Keeping Salesforce data synchronized with ERP, marketing, and finance tools. 🔹 AI-Powered Data Insights: Using Salesforce Einstein Analytics for better decision-making.
🚀 With high-quality data, businesses can make informed decisions, improve customer engagement, and optimize sales processes.
Challenge #3: Lack of Customization & Inefficient Workflows
Why It’s a Problem
Out-of-the-box Salesforce features don’t always fit every business’s unique needs. Many companies struggle with:
❌ Using generic workflows that don’t align with their operations ❌ Inability to track industry-specific metrics ❌ Manual, time-consuming processes that should be automated
This results in reduced efficiency, frustrated employees, and lost opportunities.
How Expert Consulting Solves It
🔹 Tailored Customization: Adapting Salesforce to fit business-specific processes. 🔹 Advanced Automation: Implementing custom workflows that reduce manual work. 🔹 Custom Reports & Dashboards: Creating real-time insights for smarter decision-making. 🔹 AI & Predictive Analytics: Leveraging AI-driven solutions for forecasting and strategic planning.
🚀 A properly customized Salesforce CRM can streamline workflows, improve productivity, and boost revenue.
Challenge #4: Integration Issues with Existing Systems
Why It’s a Problem
Many businesses use multiple software tools for finance, marketing, HR, inventory management, and customer service. When Salesforce isn’t integrated properly, it creates:
❌ Data silos – Information remains isolated across different platforms. ❌ Inefficiencies – Teams have to manually transfer data between systems. ❌ Poor Customer Experience – Lack of a unified view of customer interactions.
How Expert Consulting Solves It
🔹 Seamless Integration: Connecting Salesforce with ERP, accounting, marketing automation, and customer service tools. 🔹 API Development & Middleware Solutions: Ensuring smooth data flow between systems. 🔹 Automated Workflows Across Platforms: Eliminating manual data entry and reducing errors. 🔹 Unified Customer Data Hub: Creating a 360-degree customer view for better engagement and personalization.
🚀 When Salesforce is fully integrated with other business applications, companies experience improved efficiency, accuracy, and collaboration.
Challenge #5: Security, Compliance & Scalability Concerns
Why It’s a Problem
As businesses grow, Salesforce must scale while maintaining security and compliance standards. Many organizations struggle with:
❌ Ensuring data security & user access control ❌ Meeting industry compliance regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) ❌ Handling system performance issues as data volumes increase
How Expert Consulting Solves It
🔹 Security Best Practices: Implementing multi-level authentication, role-based access, and encryption. 🔹 Compliance Readiness: Ensuring Salesforce aligns with GDPR, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements. 🔹 Scalable Architecture: Optimizing Salesforce for growth and increased user loads. 🔹 Regular System Audits & Performance Tuning: Keeping Salesforce efficient and secure.
🚀 With the right security measures and scalable infrastructure, businesses can future-proof their Salesforce investment.

Isaac Asimov: the first five books of my Foundation series tell how one mathematician became a legend by predicting social forces at interplanetary scales.
Also Asimov: the 6th book will be a prequel about him being dunked on for months straight for not knowing liberal arts like at all. He gets owned so badly by experts in other fields that he repeatedly nearly dies. I’ll open each chapter with an excerpt from an encyclopedia written ten thousand years later that makes this period of Seldon’s life sound historically important and mysterious, but then the actual story is about how this moron doesn’t know the word “religious” or how to use an oven or clock. The novel will stress out the same types of readers who are bothered by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia because if Craig Mazin, Charlie Day, and Megan Ganz wrote an episode called “Dennis invents Psychohistory” that work would be functionally identical to this novel to all but the shrewdest of branch managers of a regional paper company. While this novel is a prequel, it will advance readers’ understanding of the Foundation setting as ineffective Trantorian leaders trip over themselves trying to capture Seldon, while he continuously fails upward like Bill Murray in the film The Man Who Knew too Little so preposterously and frequently that it will become inescapably thematically clear that his Foundation can only inevitably do the same. I expect this will be a great comfort to readers.
Me: huh, that was a choice.
