18 + Evan/Trevor
I will always believe that you are too good, too pure, and too innocent for this world even as you shout death threats in traffic.
“Ya ibn al-kalb! Lo--” Evan was cursing in Arabic, and Trevor could barely keep up with what he was saying exactly. Trevor wasn’t sure what was happening in front of him as Evan gestured vulgarly at the car that had cut him off, and then ended it with a death threat. He was leaning out of the window, but now had his back pressed against the leather chair of his car, breathing heavily. He was angry, but at least he hadn’t used his lazer blasters on his the man. “Sorry. I get heated sometimes.” It was apparent on Evan’s face that he was uncomfortable with the fact that he had to swear. He refused to make eye contact with Trevor.
“You speak Arabic?” Trevor asked. Of course, Evan spoke Arabic, he was Egyptian and had lived here for a little while now, working on some sort of mission that a journalist like Trevor wasn’t allowed to hear about. Trevor examined at how Evan was panting, his muscular chest, and little bit of sweat on his shirt due to the Cairo heat. His skin wasn’t its usual blue tint, it was tanned and his hair was still black and tightly curled. He was attempting to blend in with the humanity around him.
Trevor on the other hand, was still eyes. He didn’t quite mind the stark difference between their appearance, as Trevor was a civilian, and Evan as a superhero. He’d been uncomfortable at first, at how human Evan was, but understood the need for Evan’s human disguise soon enough.
“Oh? That? I picked up a little bit of the language while here. Makes it easier to talk to people when they can understand you.” Evan didn’t just know a little bit of Arabic, he had perfected the accent, and pronunciation of each letter. Evan knew how to speak in tongue too, but his personality already made him weird enough.  Evan was extremely good at blending into the crowd. “I apologize for swearing, I’m not usually like this. People in Cairo never really understand unless you use insults with them.”
“Superheroes swear too, you know.” Trevor said, looking out of Evan’s window. “It’s normal.”
“Also, people in Cairo? Don’t you live here?”
“I live in Alexandria. I rarely come to Cairo because of all the traffic and how people here act on the road. It’s very rude.” Evan rolled up his window and then focused his eye on the road. “Do you want me to drive you back to your hotel?” There was a hint of shame in his voice, as he avoided making actual conversation with Trevor. Yes, it was apparent that Evan was embarrassed about Trevor hearing him swear.
“How come you never told me that? I always assumed that you lived in Cairo.” A moment to consider Evan’s proposal.  “No thank you, I need to get some work done today.” Trevor can feel, no, actually visualize the shame that was clouding Evan’s aura. It was a greyish blue cloud draped over him. “Evan, it’s really alright if you swear.”
“I told you.” Evan pulled over, parking on the side of the already crowded roads, and then looked at Trevor, trying to decide which eyes to focus on. “I told you my flight was directly to Cairo, and I guess you just went with that, I had assumed you heard that my mission was in Alexandria. I didn’t have the heart to correct you and make you feel bad, so I’ve been acting like I live in Cairo too.”
“So is that apartment….?” Trevor wanted to ask him why he stopped, but it was possibly due to Evan’s fear of causing an accident, usually he got distracted with conversations. He’d never been much of a driver. There was always a dreading feeling of being the bad guy, and that was so easy with car accidents.
“Oh, it’s mine. I bought it. It’s just like a secondary home rather than where I live. I let people rent it out every now and again, since I hate for it to just to go to waste. It works out cheaper too, since I have things to attend to in Cairo.”
“Do you actually have business in Cairo? Or did you take a job so that you didn’t have to lie to me?”
Evan didn’t respond, and let his ears do it for him. They were bright red from embarrassment. Evan always did this, he went out of his way to make sure people weren’t embarrassed.
“You’re really sweet to do that.” Trevor smiled and gently placed his hand on Evan’s shoulder.  “Next time, you can just correct me, you know? I’m not going to get my feelings hurt because I misheard something.”
Evan smiled. “I like keeping myself busy. It’s lonely here. I miss you and I miss being with the rest of the team.”
“You always have a job there.” Evan looked at his hands. “We’ll always want you back.”
Trevor pressed his face on Evan’s shoulder. “I miss you too, sweetheart.”
“I know, but there are things I need to do here.” Evan sighed again. “Do you want to go back to my apartment? I think there’s a few things I haven’t shown you.”
