AMC has already aired four episodes from Preacher Season 3, and now they’ve taken advantage of SDCC to release a brand new trailer, teasing all of the wild shenanigans still to come.

First, the new footage sees Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Jesse (Dominic Cooper) resolve to kill Gran’ma because they have things to do and “God’s not gonna kick his own ass.” And speaking of ass-kickings, we get a glimpse…

  Summary

Tulip, Jesse, Jody and T.C. hatch an ambitious plan to save both Gran’ma’s and Tulip’s lives. Cassidy explores a new friendship in New Orleans.

Positives 

It’s never easy for a show to start to juggle multiple story lines, and Cassidy leaving the pack was definitely going to set a new tone for the show. Preacher however handled this incredibly well and introduced a new narrative with Arseface going back to Annville and finding it destroyed in the opening moments. The Saint of Killers adopting Arseface, but still trying to shake him from his “God has a plan for me” attitude is great and could lead to a redemption arc for Eugene.

Cassidy has fully embraced his dark side and shot Sabina dead when planning to kill Gran’ma. It’s a welcome sight to see this darker Jesse and the nuances that come with that. While we have seen a dark Jesse before, having him removed from Tulip and Cassidy will surely bring something new to the table and unleash a beast like we have never seen.

  Negatives

It seems like I say this every review and it is my main negative for the show so far… WHERE IS HITLER!? The show begins to hit that mid-season hike that lets you know its starting to unravel the mysteries that it laid out. With so much time spent last season on Eugene and Hitler, you’d think it would result in some climatic event for this season, but Arseface has only begun to appear and Hitler is still MIA.

The Grail is another point I can’t seem to get behind, while Tulip running after them seemed to be a big point at the beginning of the season, her quest was then shifted to Jesse’s contract, and now it seems she may seek refuge in her own arms. Some great characters embody The Grail and I’d love to see more.

  Verdict

Preacher is gearing toward the middle and that means just a little more and it’s over. The season’s been action packed and story heavy with few episodes missing the mark, and this one is definitely worth checking out and watching till the very end.
