Big shout out to @westlabsalts for gifting me these products !! I’ve used the mineral shower wash the most as it’s more practical given I don’t have a bath! Happy to confirm it left my skin feeling super hydrated and soft after every use and no irritation at all!! IT ALSO SMELT SUPER FRESH, I don’t know what the smell is but im obsessed. I was super hesitant to use sea salts as I always thought they’d feel like the ocean does and be dehydrating and irritating. Very happy to confirm that after using the sea salts in my sink my hands remained super soft and hydrated for hours !! No itch either !! On the whole I’d say this was a great success and that @westlabsalts has gained a new customer !! Thank you!! I’ve now learned that you really shouldn’t “Knock Something Until You Try It “ ❤️

My Twitter Experience

Twitter is a platform I have been using for years to engage with my favourite YouTubers, celebrities and gaming communities. Never did I think people would openly tweet about their eczema issues and promote eczema awareness. I searched for the word 'eczema' to to see what was out there and was surprised by the number of tweets. There were many people talking about their skin currently day to day, information they had found, sharing articles nd having conversations with one another. It was really humbling to see how open people were and how easy they found it to relate with complete strangers, especially with twitter having such a small word count to compose tweets.

Scrolling further, I noted common hashtags that various people and companies were using. These included #saveusfromeczema, #eczemaawareness, #unhideeczema and #geteczemawise. By using these hashtags when composing my own tweets, it allowed for more engagement in comparison to not using them, as I did not have any followers. These hashtags represent a community wanting to spread awareness and make a change. From these hashtags, I caught the attention of a similar page trying to promote a welcoming place for those suffering from various skin conditions and another user that is a fellow eczema sufferer. Both of these people retweeted a post of mine and actually started a conversation regarding it. Both people were being really empathetic to one another, while discussing their personal experiences with topical steroid withdrawal symptoms. They also recommended some creams and solutions to each other, which was exciting to see. By posting this article in the form of a tweet I allowed these people to connect, making me feel confident to continue on my blogging and social media journey. It also allowed me to see that power Twitter has to connect people with the same interests, by being able to follow hashtags and keywords.

Overall, I enjoy using Twitter for sharing quick thoughts and being able to have conversations with people. It is much easier than writing a while blog post, that at times, can feel very one sided. Twitter allows for more of a back and forth, simpler discussion. It also allows for the spread of information without overloading people with too many words. People can jump in and join the conversation while sharing their thoughts. Although I wish I had more engagement, that comes with time consistency, through building connections.

For #EczemaAwarenessWeek , I wanted to raise how Eczema has made me feel throughout the years. Eczema has taken away my confidence at times, been the reason I don't wear certain things / don't attend an event/it's been the reason I've had a dire mental health day/ taken extenuating circumstances at uni. It's even been the reason I couldn't physically straighten/move without my skin ripping open and bleeding. 
 "I want everyone to know it's okay to ask for help. I've taken time off work as I couldn't straighten my fingers due to how cracked and dry they were. Asking for help and being open about your skin is a vital step towards healing physically and mentally. We can't always control our Eczema, but we can control how we react to it.  Over the last few years, I have been soo happy that there have been references to Eczema in films/ tv and media; I remember sitting watching Netflix and being caught off guard by an eczema joke here and there. It's incredible to see such a common skin condition finally being mentioned. The more this happens, the fewer questions people will ask, and the easier it will become for sufferers to accept their skin. Nobody should ever feel like less of a person because of the way they look. Change your thoughts, change the stigma, empower others. I've said it once, I'll say it again! The AllergyKid is on Day #3 of wearing his Remedywear fingerless gloves but I wanted to document the start.
