उत्तराखंड के चमोली जिले में 7 फरवरी को सुबह ग्लेशियर टूट जाने के कारण काफी तबाही हुई। पूरे देश को इस घटना ने झकझोर कर रख दिया है और हर किसी के सामने एक बार फिर 2013 का वो मंजर सामने आया। ग्लेशियर टूटने से प्लांट, बांध, पुलों को नुकसान पहुंचा और सैकड़ों लोग बह गए। अभी तक कई शव मिल चुके हैं, वहीं सैकडों लोग अभी भी लापता हैं और रेस्क्यू ऑपरेशन भी चल रहा है। रेस्क्यू ऑपरेशन के लिए ITBP के साथ SDRF, NDRF, तीनों सेनाएं और अन्य सभी एजेंसियों को लगा दिया गया है।

 चमोली में ग्लेशियर टूटने के बाद ऋषिगंगा और फिर धौलीगंगा पर बने हाइड्रो प्रोजेक्ट का बांध टूट गया। इससे गंगा और उसकी सहायक नदियों में बाढ़ का खतरा पैदा हो गया है।

 उत्तराखंड के मुख्यमंत्री त्रिवेन्द्र सिंह रावत ने कहा कि अगर आप प्रभावित क्षेत्र में फंसे हैं और आपको किसी तरह की मदद की जरूरत है तो आपदा परिचालन केंद्र के नंबर 1070 या 9557444486 पर संपर्क करें।

 वहीं प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने भी 7 फरवरी को उत्तराखंड के मुख्यमंत्री को 4 बार फोन कर के दुर्घटना का हाल जाना था और हर संभव मदद का आश्वासन भी दिया। और तमाम राज्य सरकारों ने भी हर संभव मदद का आश्वासन दिया है।

 उत्तराखंड में ग्लेशियर टूटने की एक बड़ी वजह जलवायु परिवर्तन को माना जा रहा है। विशेषज्ञों की मानें तो हिमालय का क्षेत्र अन्य पर्वत श्रंखलाओं की तुलना में कहीं तेजी से गर्म हो रहा है।

 अगर समग्र हिमालय क्षेत्र की बात करें तो 8000 से अधिक ग्लेशियर झीलें हैं, जिनमें 200 को खतरनाक की श्रेणी में रखा गया है। अब अगर सिर्फ उत्तराखंड की बात करें तो इस इलाके में 50 से अधिक ग्लेशियर तेजी से आकार बदल रहे हैं। राज्य सरकार की ओर से 2007-08 में कराए गए विशेषज्ञ कमेटी के अध्ययन में यह निष्कर्ष निकला था।

 ग्लेशियर से जुड़े खतरों के वैश्विक तापमान से संबंधों के खतरों से आगाह करती एक रिपोर्ट में कहा गया कि हिंदू-कुश हिमालय क्षेत्र में दुनिया के अन्य हिस्सों की तुलना में तेजी से बढ़ रहा है। संभवतः इसी खतरे को पहले से भांप कर चमोली जिले में रैणी के ग्रामीणों ने इसी को लेकर नैनीताल हाईकोर्ट में जनहित याचिका दायर की थी।

 आपको यह जानकर आश्चर्य होगा कि 7 फरवरी को उत्तराखंड के चमोली जिले में जिस ग्लेशियर के फटने से इतनी बड़ी तबाही आई है, इसकी चेतावनी उत्तराखंड के ही वैज्ञानिकों ने 8 महीने पहले दे दी थी। वैज्ञानिकों ने बताया था कि उत्तराखंड, जम्मू-कश्मीर और हिमाचल के कई इलाकों में ऐसे ग्लेशियर हैं, जो कभी भी फट सकते हैं।

 वैज्ञानिकों ने बताया कि श्योक नदी के प्रवाह को एक ग्लेशियर ने रोक दिया है। इसकी वजह से अब वहां एक बड़ी झील बन गई है। झील में ज्यादा पानी जमा हुआ, तो उसके फटने की आशंका है। यह चेतावनी दी थी देहरादून के वाडिया इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ जियोलॉजी के वैज्ञानिकों ने।

 वैज्ञानिकों ने चेताया था कि जम्मू-कश्मीर काराकोरम रेंज समेत पूरे हिमालय क्षेत्र में ग्लेशियरों द्वारा नदी का प्रवाह रोकने पर कई झीलें बनी हैं। यह बेहद खतरनाक स्थित�� है।

 आपको बताते चलें कि उत्तराखंड में गंगोत्री ग्लेशियर सबसे बड़ा है। यह चार हिमनदों रतनवन, चतुरंगी स्वच्छंद और कैलाश से मिलकर बना है। गंगोत्री ग्लेशियर 30 किलोमीटर लंबा और दो किलोमीटर चौड़ा है। हालिया शोध में यह बात सामने आई है कि गंगोत्री ग्लेशियर पर्यावरण में आए बदलाव के चलते हर साल 22 मीटर पीछे खिसक रहा है। पर्यावरणीय बदलाव की वजह से फिलहाल हर साल ये ग्लेशियर कई मीटर तक पीछे खिसक रहे हैं।
