BABE THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT. Cyberpunk, even as a tabletop game, revolved around the fact that there is ALWAYS something going on that you don't know about. The whole point of the series is that YOU CAN'T WIN. You, no matter how reknown you become, will be an insignificant cog in the big machinery that is night city, and you will die that way. The entire point is that there's no satisfying way to end it. There is no "good" or "happy" ending because THE WHOLE POINT OF THE SERIES IS HOW FUTILE TRYING TO BEAT THE SYSTEM IS. The most compelling thing about the series is that no matter what choices you make, you lose, and you've got to grapple with that to get to the ending that you consider the best possible outcome, and even then, you won't be happy.

There are no happy endings in Night City.

Relationship Analysis

There’s an undeniable thrill in being around Panam that makes V feel alive. Sometimes it’s even easy to forget about all the other shitty things going on when they’re side by side.

However, the fire for the Aldecaldos that burns within Panam leaves a bitter taste in V’s mouth. Every time she talks about her tribe, belonging, hope for the future- V can only think it makes her dependent. Naive. And maybe V is just a little spiteful, a little jealous, that she got the family they secretly always wanted. Though the recognition and acceptance of that is behind an ironclad door. Doesn’t stop Panam from repeatedly hinting or flat out begging V to join them, return to the nomad life. To which V quickly responds with a scoff and a “not gonna happen.” Home is a lie they won’t swallow again.

It really would be difficult to find two people more capable of bickering relentlessly then laughing freely together the next moment. And there’s no denying V hasn’t thought of Panam in a naughtier way on multiple occasions. Afterall, Panam is a careless flirt- she magnifies this primal feeling V normally pushes away. How fun it is to be reckless and impulsive again. To have a ‘ride or die’ again. Like how things were before this whole mess started. And there’s an unspoken attraction. But boundaries are respected, lust buried. Tension always breaks short of intimacy. Cause they’d be better off as friends.

Panam found her road back to kinship, whereareas V only knows how to burn bridges. Yes, better off with Panam seeing through the cynical jabs, the hurt behind the sarcasm, their willingness to walk alone, and just act as a place to escape every so often. But maybe, on a sweaty adrenaline riddled night, they sleep together and then never bring it up again.
