I never thought Mallorca would be so exciting and beautiful. I spent a winter here in 2011, now I came back for the Summer. There is a lot to see, where should I begin? The most important is Palma, the capital. It is a cosmopolitan city, you can find everything you need: museums, squares with small cafeterias, a lot of shops, the La Seu Cathedral, many beautiful buildings, a long promenade at the harbour, amusement possibilities…etc…and many more…. There are more than 200 beaches here, altogether more than 50 kilometers, they are mostly in the Eastern part of Mallorca. One third of the island consists of the Tramuntana mountains (Serra de Tramuntana) in the West – Northwest. The highest point is the Puig Major There is a lot to see in the Tramuntana area: Valldemossa, Deia, Soller, Port de Soller, Sa Calobra, Lluc, Andratx…. 2011 telét itt töltöttem, most visszatértem erre a nyárra. Ennek a legmagasabb pontja a Puig Major. Amit meg lehet itt nézni a Tramuntana térségben azok a következők: Valldemossa, Deia, Soller, Port de Soller, Sa Calobra, Lluc, Andratx …..
Valldemossa is one of the most beautiful villages in Mallorca. I must agree. Here you can visit the Carthausian Monastery, inside you can find the Cella of Chopin and George Sand. The garden is really beautiful, it is a pleasure spending there some time, the view is also amazing. Valldemossa Mallorca egyik legszebb faluja.
And you can be lost in these small streets. / És ezeken a kis utcákon barangolva rengeg időt eltölthettek.
Deia is a small village, it takes from Valldemossa 30 minutes to get there. Before you reach Deia you can stop at the Son Marroig, a lookout point and a small museum. Honestly I expected more but the view from here over the Sa Foradada was worth the visit.
In Deia I must stop next time, now I didn’t find a parking place, but I remember from 7 years ago how nice it was there.
On the way to Sóller you can stop at Lluc Alcari, here don’t go down to the town because only a dead-end street will you find. Stop rather at a lookout point and take pictures of the village with the small bay and ships from above. A Sóller felé vezető úton megállhattok Lluc Alcari-nál, pár kilátóhelyről képeket készíthettek a faluról, a kis öbölről és a hajókról.
La Granja is a museum, a mansion near Valldemossa. I preferred this to Son MArroig, the garden is huge and the house is richly decorated. I suggest you to go rather here.
I had visited Sóller earlier and some weeks ago again I went on an excursion to Sóller by the train-tram-ship. In Soller that is the most important sight to see, the centuries old wooden crafted train. The train goes from Palma via Bunyola to Sóller, it takes about an hour to get there. During the journey you can admire an amazing landscape, the Tramuntana mountains, the lemon and orange trees and the small villages. Itt Sóllerben a legfontosabb látnivaló a fából készült több száz éves vonat.
From Sóller to Port de Sóller 5 kilometers you can take the tram. It was the island’s first electric tram in the beginning of the 20th century.
After that by ship we went to Sa Calobra. From the small bay you can go on foot to the Gorge where you can find a tiny beach.
The Monastery in Lluc is the most important pilgrimage site on Mallorca. Be prepared that the road there is a nightmare… A Lluc-i kolostor a legfontosabb zarándokhely Mallorcán. Az kanyargos út egy rémálom odafele…
Near Bunyola you can find the Jardines de Alfabia (Alfabia Gardens). I visited it again, it is a pity that a storm in March destroyed the fountains and they are not renovated yet…(I don’t know how long it can take…) . I am lucky I could see them.
You must stop in Fornalutx at least for half an hour because this village has a great atmosphere.
I saw some pictures taken in the evening in Port de Andratx, I want to see it then, it is beautifully illuminated. I saw it only at daylight 7 years ago, but I remember I had here an amazing lunch in one of the fish restaurants.
ANd the best you can do to get to know the Tramuntana mountains is to go on a Jeep safari 🙂 És a legjobb, amit tehettek, ha a Tramuntana hegységet fel szeretnétek fedezni, ha elmentek egy Jeep safarira 🙂
To be continued about Mallorca.. / Folytatás következik Mallorcáról…
Vicky
Mallorca: Tramuntana mountains – lookout points, typical Spanish villages, monasteries… / Mallorca: a Tramuntana hegység – kilátópontok, tipikus spanyol falvak, kolostorok … I never thought Mallorca would be so exciting and beautiful. I spent a winter here in 2011, now I came back for the Summer.

A tiger blamed for killing three people will spend the rest of its life in captivity, Indian officials said Sunday, saying the big cat was “too dangerous” to be allowed to roam free.
The five-year-old male predator, also blamed for attacking cattle, had embarked on a trek more than 500 kilometres (310 miles) long from western Maharashtra state to central India’s Betul district in Madhya Pradesh state in 2018.
“We gave it several chances to re-wild but it habitually went into human habitations,” Madhya Pradesh’s chief wildlife warden, S.K. Mandal, told AFP.
“The only option left was to put it in captivity to ensure both the tiger and humans are safe.”
The tiger — dubbed the “vagabond” or “nomad” by some local media — was first trapped in December 2018 after its long journey and held in captivity for two months.
The big cat was eventually fitted with a tracking collar and shuttled between a tiger reserve and a national park.
Officials however said it repeatedly strayed and hunted near human settlements, attacking cattle and endangering humans.
Finally the tiger was tranquilised and sent to a zoo in Madhya Pradesh capital’s Bhopal on Saturday.
Officials said the decision to capture the adult tiger was taken a few months ago, but was delayed due to the novel coronavirus lockdown.
“It will take sometime for him to adjust to the new environment. We will be monitoring his behaviour,” Bhopal’s Van Vihar National Park director, Kamlika Mohanta, told AFP.
“As of now it will remain in solitary confinement. A decision to put it on display at the zoo or send it to a (fenced) safari will be taken later.”
Human encroachment on tiger habitats have increased in recent decades in the nation of 1.3 billion people, leading to deadly conflicts with the animals.
Nearly 225 people were killed in tiger attacks between 2014 and 2019, according to government figures.
More than 200 tigers were killed by poachers or electrocution between 2012 and 2018, the data showed.
India is home to around 70 percent of the world’s tigers. Last year, the government said the tiger population had risen to 2,967 in 2018 from a record low of 1,411 in 2006.
