Arx Fatalis, the 2003 RPG banger, is so good it should have absolutely destroyed Elder Scrolls
Tumblr media
A decade before Arkane Studios would create the silky-smooth stealth sandbox Dishonored, it released its debut – an altogether dirtier breed of first person action-RPG called Arx Fatalis. Unfortunately, the developer released it just a few months after something called Morrowind. Both games are stuffed with the sorts of things a particular breed of computer anorak gets sweaty over: pantheons of bickering deities, weapon durability, fiddly controls, obtuse levelling systems conceived by an absolute lunatic, mushrooms. Where the games differ is in just how little Arx Fatalis is interested in making the player feel powerful.
The Elder Scrolls are absolute power fantasies, built entirely around freedom and letting the player act out their LARP-ing dreams without going outside. Sure, the player usually starts in chains, but within 10 minutes they’re roaming the fantastical countryside and pissing fireballs out of every orifice. In Arx Fatalis, the chains never really come off. There’s no post-tutorial catharsis, no sense of wonder as you exit the starting area and gaze at the possibilities stretching out to the horizon. That Big Moment – that thrill of your eyes adjusting to the light as you leave Vault 101 or as Link wakes up from his 100-year nap? In Arx Fatalis, it never comes. Because Arx Fatalis is set in a cave.
All of Arx Fatalis is set in a cave. You never leave the cave. When you escape from one cave, you simply arrive in a different cave. The world of Arx has lost its sun, and every archetypal fantasy race has been forced to share the dank deep underground. You spend the opening hours desperately flailing at rats with a bone you’ve scavenged from a pile. You rip the meat from the rats, warm it by the fire and feast on it while you’re hunched over in your pants. When you finally manage to drag yourself to the human city, you’ll be shocked to discover that it’s just another cave. It’s caves all the way down. But what caves they are.

Gran Turismo 7 update 1.07 goes heavy on dirt tire events and reward adjustments
Tumblr media
Gran Turismo 7 has another update available, and along with adding a Broadcast Mode to the Sound Volume Settings, it makes some welcome improvements and adjustments.
In Car Settings, update 1.07 fixes an issue where an application error would occur when selecting a Setting Sheet from the Quick Menu screen within 'World Circuits' while being in Offline Mode. An issue where copied Setting Sheets would disappear when the Car Settings were opened and closed has been fixed, and so has the problem with the Ford GT Race Car 2018. Apparently, it would only go into first gear when a 'Fully Customisable Manual Transmission' or a ’Fully Customisable Sequential Transmission' were installed.
The patch fixed an issue where cars would be considered within regulation even though they did not meet the Balance of Performance regulation, and a problem with the Lobby was also addressed. Here, some Assist Settings, such as Auto-Drive, were able to be changed or saved even when Limit Driving Options was set to Prohibited.

Two Point Campus students will learn the art of potions, spells, and general wizardry this August
Tumblr media
University management sim Two Point Campus will introduce witchcraft and wizardry to its students when it releases in August.
In Wizardry class, students will be able to brew potions, divine the future using a crystal ball, or end up getting a pumpkin for a head - likely due to some form of spell mishap.
You will need to make sure your students study properly and hone their skills in the Spellroom to compete in magical duels. The better your students do, the stronger their magic becomes, and apparently, they will need it due to an ancient curse and a nefarious enemy roaming around the halls.

Ghostwire: Tokyo proves there’s nothing inherently wrong with the maligned Ubisoft open-world formula
Tumblr media
Ghostwire: Tokyo’s exploration loop is a brilliantly elaborate conceptual pun. It is this game’s version of the ‘Tower Unfogs Map’ mechanic popularised by Assassin’s Creed. Here, instead of climbing stuff and checking your watch as the camera whips around some murderous aristocrat holding an unlikely pose atop the Bastille (or whatever), you cleanse Torii gates of demonic influence, which rather usefully clears the streets of literal fog. I’m not sure if it’s intended to be funny, but regardless, it’s a smirk-worthy meta-twist on a now ubi-quitous gaming trope that can be found everywhere from Zelda to Mad Max.
It’s become something of a lightning rod for online complaints about the predictability of open-world design. The dreaded Ubisoft Towers; their mere presence implying that whatever game they loom over is, often in stark contrast to pre-release marketing, another bloated Icon Janitor sim. Another ‘Assassin’s Creed But’.
Assassin’s Creed but… you’re hunting robot dinosaurs. Assassin’s Creed but… you’re Spider-Man. Assassin’s Creed but… you’re in a vaguely problematic caricature of Cuba, and the bad guy from Breaking Bad has been given about three minutes of screen time in a desperate attempt to lend this bollocks some prestige. The sheer number of these games seems excessive, especially considering that Assassin’s Creed itself comes in a multitude of flavours spanning the entire latter half of recorded history, encompassing genres as disparate as stealth action, pirate simulator, and Copying The Witcher 3.

Doomfist and Orisa getting considerable reworks in Overwatch 2 and changes are coming to two other heroes
Tumblr media
The Overwatch 2 closed PvP beta kicks off next week, and testers will find changes have been made to some of the heroes, and a couple have received major reworks.
These heroes are Sombra, Bastion, Doomfist, and Orisa.
For starters, Sombra's cooldown on her hacking abilities has been reduced to eight seconds. She will also now be able to view targets through walls that she can hack for either herself or her teammates. She will also be able to hack while using stealth. Her ultimate will now deal damage up to 40% of an opponent's health, and her passive will dole out 50% more damage to hacked targets.

Save up to 75 per cent on DLC at Ubisoft's spring sale
Tumblr media
Ubisoft have made huge adventure games in recent years, and they've expanded on this success by adding to those stories and the time we get to spend with original, interesting characters they feature.
Some of their latest DLC packs are on sale on Ubisoft's own website right now, and we've made a list of some of the more notable discounts.
The best deal available here is the Dawn of Ragnarok for Asssassin's Creed Valhalla. You play as Eivor, and your goal is to become Odin, the Norse god of Battle and Wisdom, and use everything in your arsenal to save your son in this Viking saga. It was only released last month, and is the game's biggest DLC. It's reduced by 25 per cent to $29.99 at the moment.

Halo Infinite Season 2 features modes such as King of the Hill and Last Spartan Standing
Tumblr media
343 Industries has provided some intel on the game modes included in Season 2 of Halo Infinite.
In Season 2: Lone Wolves, you can expect three modes along with variants featuring a mix of returning favorites and something new to Halo.
One of the modes coming with the season is King of the Hill. While you may already know how the returning mode is played, this iteration comes with a bit of a twist. In it, a neutral hill will spawn on the map. When this happens, two teams will battle to take control of it to earn points. When a player enters the hill uncontested, it is captured and begins earning one point per second into a capture bar. Once a team’s capture bar is full, the team will score one point and a new hill spawns elsewhere on the map.

Can Bayonetta 3 capture the magic of Bayonetta 2 – one of Nintendo’s greatest ever exclusives?
Tumblr media
When most people picture the Wii U, they remember a Fisher Price-looking disappointment. Yet, for action gaming connoisseurs, it’s the console that Trojan Horsed the best game of 2014 into our lives. I am, of course, talking about the breath-takingly bizarre Bayonetta 2.
As the once-shelved follow-up to the Sega-published Bayonetta, the 91 Metacritic-rated sequel is a madcap masterpiece. Now, eight years on, we find ourselves potentially just months away from this year’s Nintendo Switch threequel. With only a single trailer to go on, details on the Umbran Witch’s highly-anticipated upcoming adventure are… well, somewhat scant. What we do know however, is that after returning to the batshit brilliance of the eight-year-old Bayonetta 2 – there’s a very real chance we’re in for another all timer.
For those who skipped Nintendo’s Angel-obliterating opus, Bayonetta 2 is an experience that operates entirely in its own sense-defying stratosphere. From its manically melodramatic main theme, to a whiplash-inducing Christmas shopping prologue that sees a festive Bayonetta fighting angels atop a fighter jet, Platinum’s turbo-charged joyride is one that never lets up. It’s an undeniable high point for the character-driven-action genre. A serotonin-secreting source of utterly glorious nonsense. The best part about it, though? This sweary, sexual, angel-slaying sim wouldn’t exist without Nintendo.

Save $300 on this HP Omen gaming laptop from Best Buy
Tumblr media
HP's Omen line is one of the more premium in gaming hardware, as the company combines flashy style with great, powerful components. The HP Omen 16 is another example of this, and this particular gaming laptop is available for $1199.99 from Best Buy, a reduction of a significant $300.
The processor powering everything is an Intel Core i7 11th gen chip, which has eight cores and sixteen threads. This is plenty to run modern games and to handle CPU-intensive tasks. There's also an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060. This combination is ideal to run many of the latest games at great detail, ensuring your laptop will be sufficient for many years down the line.
And if you're into competitive gaming, that's possible too, especially with the 1080p 144Hz display. This high refresh rate means you'll see more of the action in titles like Fortnite and Leage of Legends, especially as the components will have no issue keeping up. And the unusual 16" size makes it ideal for those who think the standard 15" displays are a little on the small side.

Outriders' Worldslayer expansion adds a new campaign, new subclasses, and a new endgame
Tumblr media
As part of a special presentation earlier today, People Can Fly, and Square Enix unenvied Worldslayer, the new expansion coming to Outriders on June 30.
Worldslayer was teased towards the end of last year when People Can Fly released the free New Horizon update. Unlike that one, however, Worldslayer is a paid expansion, releasing on all platforms where Outriders is currently available.
Worldslayer's main addition is the new campaign chapter, which will take us to entirely new locations, debut new enemies and variants, and explore what's happened to the world of Enoch following the events of the main game. While the new campaign is intended for players at level 30, owners of Worldslayer will receive a free level boost should they want to skip straight to the new content.
