"They're both awesome! Volt's the sexiest hybrid I know, and I love spending time at his Inn with him. I'm just glad he was willing to date both Nodesy and I- I know we can be a handful. Though I do wish he'd tell us when he had to leave for things, that way we'd worry less..." The hedgehog sighed quietly. "---As for Harmony, I do worry at times that she's going to get herself hurt- but how proud she looks after each mission she comes back from keeps me from voicing it. She's definitely got the heart of a warrior.....I just hope Buddy can keep up with her!"

He honestly enjoyed both the hybrids in different ways. Harmony was, without a doubt, his kid at this point- and Volt, his beloved. The hedgehog had even been considering springing the question on both Volt and Node, of late...but that was a thought that would have to wait. For what, he wasn't sure- but the time wasn't quite right, yet.

"...I do wish Volt'd not keep things from us,...but I don't plan to pry. That's his choice, and I'm not gonna disrespect it. I love him dearly- I'm still surprised he was actually willing to try to get involved with Bless and I, but...I don't regret it." Their tail was swishing back and forth, slow but steady. "His power's on another level...makes me feel safe, when I know everybody's home...and Harmony,..." There was a faint smile. "...she reminds me of Bless, in his younger days- wouldn't surprise me if she's just like Volt from when he was younger too, though... I do consider her to actually be my daughter, though I worry at times that I can be....a bit overbearing? So I end up overcorrecting into...being a bit too...little, I guess." They shrugged. Node had never been a parent before- trying to find a happy medium,...was definitely taking time.

"I've thought of giving her a nickname, but...Bless already uses 'Harms', and I'm not so sure she'd be happy if I started using it, too. So for now..." They shrugged. "...I'll think'a one...'ventually."

Neither of his partners would begrudge him that time. Both knew the mind could be a hectic place- so when Volt made his way towards Bless, resting his head ever-so-gently in his lap...the hedgehog didn't even try to fight (not that he would've, anyway). A hand raised, moving to ever-so-gently slide, following the path of his quills.

Bless moved by faint degrees- slower than anyone may have thought the speedster capable, shifting until he was laying instead of sitting. He pulled his fiancé closer, nuzzling into the top of his head- fingers never pausing, never so much as straying from little ministrations designed to comfort. Emerald hues remained focused, a soft smile on his muzzle as he offered what comfort he could give.

However much time Volt needed.... Bless would give him that, and more. Just this silence,...just this peace.

Node had been standing at the sink, caught on their reflection. Idling, their chores complete, just studying their own face. Lines that had formed in more recent years, the way their eyes actually lost the once-prevalent eyebags. They'd heard Volt approach, but not turned. The fox happily leaned back into his chest when the first touch registered, but they'd not realized his full intent. Not until teeth were ghosting along their fur. Not until fangs sank, eliciting their mouth opening by the faintest margin.

A small lick of his tongue over bubbling crimson, a faint sting at the edges of their awareness. Their muzzle tinted the faintest pink, a shiver running down their spine. They didn't turn to look, instead following the reflection as a hand gently covered the one exploring their torso.

"Careful, Funke...you're gonna make my knees buckle if y'keep this up~..." Not that they much cared, one arm sliding back so their digits could caress familiar, soft fur. That low rumble of his was killer- it was hard to keep their tail in check. Their head turned just enough to plant their lips on his arm. "Not that it would ever take much from ya..."

Bless had been enjoying the past few days- fully healed. He'd not thought it possible, even a week ago. He'd figured the injury he suffered would be with him the rest of his days- and he'd never be free of it. But to no longer have headaches, no more black spots, no more dizziness from quick turns or insta-runs,...!!!!

"Hoho!! GET BACK HERE!" And he was off like a shot, no slow start to his run- just a sheer explosion to full speed, a blast of wind behind him as a blue streak shot after his daughter. "I'm gonna get you, Harms!!!" His laughter echoed, even as he disappeared down the trails- after Harmony.

"Sure- but do y'wanna do sandwiches, or somethin' else?" Sandwiches were Node's specialty, compared to other foods. But, they weren't against helping with whatever- so long as they could hear the music from the lobby, they'd be able to stay on-task. "...n' probably a drink...orange juice or milk?" Idle thoughts, grinning even as they moved over to the fridge to start in on the preparations.

Node hadn't really thought about it until it was too late- until they knew they were already starting to shed, and Volt had offered an idea. One they had accepted without a second thought, grabbing the required brush before the two made their way into the garden to work. Node had been still at first- though as Volt worked the brush higher, they'd found their ears relaxing, their tail wagging- leaning into the sensation with a quiet fox-laugh. Bit by bit, their coat had grown lighter,...and lighter,....until they were finally freed of their winter fur, the brush waggling at the edges of their vision.

"You got it." They turned 'round, brandishing the brush for but a moment before getting right into their work. Slowly bringing out tufts of orange and red as they went, nearly falling into a steady rhythm with their task. Node had been planning to speak, but...it was just...so calming. Brushing through Volt's fur, tail sliding from side-to-side as the brush drifted down, only to come back up, ready for another pass. The low rumble of a hum settled in their throat, no rhyme or reason- merely a tune, merely notes strung together that flitted through the air as they helped brush the 'winter' out of their beloved's coat. They could hear the twitter of birds- the clicks and chirps of insects, the gentle breeze as it flowed by- taking a few extra loose strands with it.

Bless hadn't been given the mercy of knowing what was going to happen. But, he was one to go with the flow- so finding himself tugged into a dance? He was more than able to fall into step, emerald hues flicking upwards as his own hands slid low.

He couldn't fight the quiet laugh, nor did he bother to try to hide the way his eyes nearly melted into matching pools of emerald, looking up at his fiancé with a smile as sweet as cotton candy. He returned each sway of the hips, his tail going nearly at ninety miles an hour as he nuzzled into his other's fur for a moment.

A dip- warmth spreading through his whole chest, meeting those fuchsia eyes. He had an idea what Volt was after- but he couldn't resist adding a few. Dozen. Just a few kisses, pecked back in return- the last daring to bite his bottom lip with a quiet hum of appreciation. If Volt wanted a melted hedgehog, that was precisely what he ended up holding in his arms. Tanned fur was wrapped around either side of his love's neck, feeling the warmth of his breath.

"...you say that like we weren't the ones to win the lottery, V." He leaned closer, stealing another small kiss- brief, barely a flash of sensation before he was pulling back. His head shifted upward- letting his forehead brush against the red fur atop Volt's own. One hand drifted, cupping his cheek with a closed-eyed grin. "...and that's a chance I don't plan to waste."

"Just between the ears, also behind them- the beans of my right hand are hyper-sensitive, but it's really easy to make me nauseas if you use the wrong texture. Base of the neck, just above my tail...tail itself, too. Should I stop?"

"A place you haven't discovered, yet....actually, the insides of my elbows. But it's only 'laugh like an idiot' sensitive." What could be said- Volt already knew all of Bless' weak points, as far as the hedgehog knew. "However, I'd be happy to give you another lesson on my 'sensitive spots', V..."

How much flattery can you take before catching a crush?

"Given it took Bless and I a few years,....and it took us and Volt a few years..."

"We can both handle a lot of flattery before catching a crush for someone! Although, we're both pretty used to at least a few lines every now and again from the general public...part of the package, being worldwide heroes and all!"

"...I....check myself out...s-sometimes,...I just--- I'm curious--- and...I've come to like the fox I see in the mirror. Besides--- an artist needs references, n' I'm not willin' t'ask my loved ones about it."

"I like making faces. The faster I can make them, the better- it's fun to see if my reflection can keep up!" The hedgehog enjoyed it, at the very least. Though he was side-eyeing Node. "...I might dance if I feel like it...though I think I'd need a partner for that....~" Why did Node feel like they'd just made a mistake?

Violet eyes bright and alight as their steps moved them from the kitchen into the dining room and out into the side section of the lobby where most guests would sit at tables of their own.

But they were alone. Just the two of them and even if they weren’t; Volt’s gaze was locked on those beautiful hazel he loved waking up to see. He tipped his head, bumping their noses together in affection just as the song came to an end. Soon after his lips followed, gentle in their touch to Node’s while slipping his arms around their shoulders and drawing them in close. A lingering kiss that ended far too soon in his opinion, but he had something important to say.

“I love you.” Something Very Important. “You and Bless are my world. Thank you for letting me spend the rest of my life with you.”

Node had blinked- the sensitivity of the old scar momentarily flaring, but the touch was so soft that it wasn't anything even remotely painful. They leaned their head back, a soft purr rumbling in their throat. Loved one. Ears flicked, before shifting down to either side of their head to make room. Not a hint of malice in Node's movements, nor a single note of fear.

They could barely hear that music from the main lobby- but when Volt pulled them in to dance,...they were happy to follow. Quickly stepping into line with his own movements, a soft smile greeting their partner. A happily-wagging tail that also fell into its own rhythm, trailing their frame.

What a pretty color to gaze into,...violet hues that sparkled nearly like gems, at the bottom of a deep cavern. They could have looked into those eyes for hours, if they were being honest. A quiet giggle- happy and light- managed to slip from them. They didn't mind. Couldn't mind, not as a nose bumped against their own and Volt came so close,...

Hazel shifted shut for that brief kiss, their own arms finally coming up to try to wrap around his upper torso.

"Ich leibe dich, auch.." Their head drifted, finding its slot just under Volt's chin again. "...and you, ours...there won't ever be enough time for everything I want to give you,...but I hope that I can show even a fraction of my love, with the rest of my days." Nuzzling into his fur, rumbling purrs making their body vibrate ever-so-faintly. "You n' Bless,...you are my everything." Their tail was wagging as they clung to him. "...I love you, Volt...now,...n' always."

During the weekend, Bless had been working a bit more on his abilities. Getting them to grow without a happiness surge had taken some concentration, but it was all worth it to look up from mixing some cookie dough and see his daughter dozing in the middle of the patch.

"The only seal of approval I need." He found himself grinning. "Hopefully she'll rest well..." A flash, and he was back with a camera in hand. Well, he'd read Node's mind. The Fluffhog Seal of Approval™️ needed to be immortalized-- preferably before the cookies were done.

Node had been the first up, today- but they didn't mind just laying in bed and dozing while their partners were both still asleep. Eventually, Bless had gotten up- the faintest 'breakfast' on his lips, of which Node hadn't stopped him. No, they'd simply returned to their dozing- arms wrapped around Volt's frame, their head pressed gently between his ears as if they could somehow embed his scent in their muzzle. They'd managed to resist the faint purrs that came from their happiness-- at least, until Volt had woken up.

They offered only a silent smile, purr growing that hint louder as Volt had pressed a gentle kiss to their chin. Their tail moved the sheets (just a little) as it wagged, content to return to their previous resting place. Bless would be on his own for making breakfast this morning- though Node had no doubt they'd be dragging his ass back into the bed if he dared try to enter the room. They had little intent to get up.

A kiss was pressed to red quills, their body practically vibrating as the purrs grew in strength. A few more minutes,...just a few more minutes of peace, before the day truly began...

Two pairs of eyes had flicked over to the door as it had opened, nearly content to go back to their work only to realize it was a familiar face- though not one the two had met. Shadow- undoubtedly Volt's Shadow, given he called the hybrid by name.

"....he's out and about in town, right now..." They weren't sure if this Shadow could be trusted. Though he'd helped get Volt away from Black Doom, hadn't he?... Oh well. Worst to worst,...they'd just try their best to stop him.

Bless was ultimately the one to offer out a hand with a confused, but well-meaning smile.

"Sorry about them. Good to see an alternate of a friend." Though their own Shadow...well. Bless barely spoke to the guy. It would seem much was the case with this one and Volt...or so he'd guess. "Alri-?" And he was gone, a flash of energy the only warning before he'd disappeared.

Emerald and hazel hues flickered down to the items that had been deposited into Bless' glove.

"....didn't even let me say thanks..." A key, a key ring...and a magenta Chaos Emerald charm... "...guess we should give these to Volt when he gets home?"

"...we should ask him if it's safe before that, though." Node had been watching a few too many shows involving items having secret 'explosion' properties, lately. Though the age on them...were they personal items of Volt's, from his past?....

The two had been awake for maybe a few minutes. Neither had willingly opened their eyes, content to have Volt's company until he had to leave them. His quiet declaration of love was met with soft rumbles and returned affections, an emerald eye cracking open, a furry muzzle gaining a tired smile.

"Love you too." A shared statement between the two- one that had solidified over time, until the present moment.. The two mobians slowly sat up, glancing to one another, unwilling to say anything until they heard the telltale clink of kitchenware outside. Volt would be busy for a little bit- time enough to figure out their plans.

"We're agreed on bracelets, right?" Bless whispered, grinning. The two had been plotting this for a little while- and they had zero intent to stop any time soon. Though figuring out how to go about the actual day would be a mess- they'd sort it out, eventually.

"Yep--- I found a night there's gonna be a meteor shower, figured we could do it then." The two's tails were both going, beaming from ear to ear at the thoughts playing around in their heads. They loved Volt, quite dearly- both were certain of that. And now,...they knew what they both wanted. And it was only a matter of time before they truly asked, trying their best to keep the hybrid in the dark until that day came.

Though both were also keeping each other in the dark about the bracelets they'd found for one another- but it would be alright. They just...had to figure out how to ask.

Volt might have dozed off while keeping Node company while they sketched. He didn’t mean to but he was still recovering… Hopefully they didn’t mind the slight weight against their side.

At least he was purring… quietly.

It had been one of many opportunities to try sketching the interior of the Inn. For Node, they'd been more than happy when Volt had decided to keep them company, tail wrapping partially around him as he'd sat beside the fox while the charcoal Harmony had gifted them scratched along a previously-pure white canvas. They were lost in their work, only really coming out of it when they'd felt a slight weight against their side, enough to throw off a stroke of their hand.

They turned their head to ask Volt what he was up to, a mirthful bubble of a laugh on the tip of their tongue- only to clamp their muzzle shut before it could fully escape upon sight of the brown-and-red hybrid... Resting peacefully, his hands in his lap, eyes closed, one ear only twitching every now and again in response to his dreams. Node's playful question was replaced instead with a soft smile. Their tail wound a little further, careful not to press for fear of scaring the hedgefox awake.

The charcoal was rested on the paper, the work only just beginning to look like the Inn's main lobby. Node's hand gently moved up, resting atop the other's forehead. It was funny- he'd gone through so much in so little time,- and yet he could rest here, looking like everything in the world was pure. They wished they could have stopped the disaster, could have helped keep Volt safe from the initial kidnap... Guilt that bit at their nerves even as they leaned their head back against his. Brown, white, and soft yellow touched as Node released a quiet purr of their own, adding a second tone to the hybrid's own.

It didn't really occur to them until far later, when they'd awoken to the sound of the canvas and charcoal slipping from their legs... That their hand had had charcoal on it, so as a result, Volt would awaken with a bit of a smear of dark-gray atop his head. Something Node instantly offered to help get out of his fur.
