Facing the world of freelancing. For almost two decades of working, my mindset belongs to wake up early - travel to the office - work - go home cycle. This cycle has been my routine and being used to doing this did not even occur to me that one day, in just one click of an event everything will change. All of my plans need change and some of it is no longer doable.
I decided to shift my mindset and do freelancing jobs online. I updated my account in Upwork and even asked my brother-in-law to check it. So everything has been set up and then I started to browse on the available jobs online. Applying online is just a piece of cake. But I struggled a lot. Here are some of the problems I encountered in facing the world of freelancing :
I think too much. I started to think, what if I get hired, how will I do the task? What if I cannot deliver the service on time? What will happen? Funny thoughts that I am getting ahead of it.
I feared being rejected. Being rejected is scary and it loses your self-confidence to move forward. I had tried being interviewed as an online teacher and I did not pass the first interview.
Laptop - my 8-year-old laptop is giving me a hard time doing what is needed to be done.
How did I survive this problem? Maybe to some of you, you might think that this is just a small concern but to someone who used to be on the limelight of her career, I am some kind of sensitive. But I believe that in every problem there is a solution. So here's how I made it to conquer everything.
In order for me not to think too much, I enrolled in Shaw Academy and took up Digital Marketing and Freelancing course at FVA Academy. I prefer the type of how FVA Academy teaches aspiring freelancers and it helps me a lot to stand on my own with the application assignments every session. Watching a lot of videos related to freelancing really helps a lot. Be resourceful and be with the group that will guide you not to think too much.
Freelancing is also a process. I may be rejected many times but the process of it will only help me to assess what is lacking and what needs to improve. I started to read and watch videos again about how successful personalities were able to reach where they are right now.
Since the basic requirement in order to get hired as a freelancer, I need to bring my laptop and get it fixed and upgraded. Thankfully, God really works in a mysterious way, my laptop can still be upgraded and now it's working faster than before. A good way to keep on moving forward.
I may be new in this industry but I am confident to face the world of freelancing. I can deliver the output with ease, passion, and an innovative mindset to some of the following services that might be helpful with your business:
