Software Defined Storage: Enabling Agile and Cost-Effective Data Management

With evolving technology trends, data volumes are growing exponentially across organizations. Traditional storage solutions are finding it difficult to efficiently scale and meet these growing requirements. This presents an opportunity for Software Defined Storage (SDS) which decouples storage software from hardware to enable simplified, automated and scalable management of data. Software Defined Storage refers to the separation of storage software from the physical hardware that stores data i.e. the controllers, disks and other components. This separates the storage software and its management functionally from the underlying hardware infrastructure. The storage software controlling the hardware forms the “brain” of the SDS architecture.
