short sandduo au where wilbur’s an exhausted college student that just wants to get through this semester of work so that he can rest during winter break. the only thing that seems to keep him going through the struggles of upcoming papers, quizzes, and exams is his english professor, phil, who routinely schedules homework through “brain-relaxing activities.” aside from a few papers here and there on open topics, most of the homework is related to something that makes a person happy. subsequently, wilbur has spent more hours playing minecraft as a part of his english professor’s curriculum than he ever has in his entire life. when finals come around, they’re scored on their ability to utilise the skills they’ve learnt regarding “relaxing” activities and ability to write a one-page paper about who their hero is. it’s meant to be a difficult question—something broad with a complex answer—and wilbur, who is running on an hour of sleep and more caffeine than should be humanly allowed, cannot think of anything so he picks the first thing that pops into his head: his professor, who saved him a lot of hours of homework on weekends, and made him feel a lot better on weeks that were mostly shit. (when phil later reads the paper, he goes through an entire half-box of tissues trying to dry his eyes).

honestly my thoughts are extremely empty regarding aus atm, but i thought that this seemed like a silly goofy crack au with hurt/comfort potential :D
