ive done this specific effect a few times now and its actually an attempt to translate something i genuinely experience due to dissociation, that ive called the spotlight effect since i was a little kid. the first time i distinctly remember it happening was when i ended up hurting myself on a walk with my parents and they started yelling at me for it, and it was like everything around me vanished except for this bright light that was shining on me and everything else had been blacked out, like the way old cartoons draw stage lights as just like a singular cone of light surrounded by blackness. now as an adult i understand that was 100% a form of dissociation, but at the time it really scared me. i dont experience it much anymore but its something im always trying to emulate
