Walker Season 4 First Look: An Overanalysis of TVLine's Exclusive Sneak Peek
TVLine released this article earlier today and there is SO MUCH to talk about
First off, we have an official premiere date for season 4! 4x01 will be hitting our airwaves on April 3rd! Which leads us to our next point: Walker will now be airing on Wednesdays. Regardless of the network reasons for changing the air day of our beloved show, I do appreciate the alliteration of Walker Wednesdays.
Second, let's talk about the plot that awaits us.
The first episode will cover Cordell's birthday and I am literally BEGGING the powers that be to give us an official birthday for Cordell. If we don't at least get a month timespan to work with, I'll be quite upset.
We also have a few cliffhangers coming off of the season 3 finale but this article spends the most amount of time talking about how the reopened cold case "The Jackal". Jared shares that Larry James will be having a few issues with this case, specifically "past trauma". We know from the season 3 finale that James was obsessed with the case and hearing about it on his wedding day probably didn't help matters. Jared also says he hopes Cordell will get to "get to return the favor and be there for him" during his time of need so I'm looking forward to a lot more Walker & James scenes in the coming season.
Jared also specifically called out Cordell and Geri giving things another try and being a "good tag-team for Stella and Auggie", so it looks like we're looking into some romance mixed with co-parenting.
Now, onto the promo pics!
This picture has a few interesting details in it. First off, where's August???? I know it's entirely possible for him to be in a different room or just out of frame of the picture but literally everyone else is here!
Second, it looks like there's some heated conversation between Larry and Ben. Taking in a lot of surprised and concerned faces on both sides of the table, I'm going with the theory that Ben said something that accidentally ruffled some feathers. Abby and Bonham tactfully staying out of it only reinforces that idea for me.
This photo is also very interesting to me. Based on the chairs and the candles, I'm betting this is also at the ranch house dinner table. But this time, it's dark and Cordell is all alone. The article describes him as "somber and contemplative" and I have to agree. The big question is, why? My current theory is that he just got some bad news relating to the "Jackal" case and this will be our end-of-episode cliffhanger. But there are other options too! @theladywyn posited August's absence in the previous photo may be deeper than it looks and could be contributing. It's also possible that Cordell learned about what happened between Stella and the home invader in 3x18- and that she called Liam for help.
So many possibilities, so little information, and so many questions left to answer. April 3rd (or 4th if you- like me- are stuck watching the episodes online) can't come soon enough!
